I think CCI obviously created this round to get some market share from Federal Punch - it is literally named "uppercut" pretty similar to "punch" and it is marketed as a self defense round meant for short barreled guns exactly like Federal Punch is.
I love the Crickett rifle as it comes from the factory, especially the stainless steel .22 Magnum, but that's your rifle and I'm glad you can enjoy it however you like.

They should change the marketing from PISTOL rounds to rifle! Only Plinkster got them to work (supposedly) with a handgun. EVERYONE else I see, to include Buffalo Outdoors, never got ‘em to work as advertised! With a carbine, they looked good.
Buckeye Ballistics used the organic gel and they expanded fine for him. I think one through heavy clothing might have failed, if memory serves. Everything else opened. Of the several videos I saw, everyone else used the synthetic stuff, apart from the one done with water.
good video and you showed the uppercut to be a great defensive round if you are attacked by a squirrel you are hoping the eat for dinner. really it looks like it would make a very good small game round like you said it hits a sweet spot between the other two, altho I don't think the segmenting would be a plus for small game you plan to eat.
The only poor review was with “Tools and Targets” and he was using incorrect ballistic gel. The rounds performed as advertised everywhere else. I am impressed with the accuracy !
@@mkshffr4936 Tools uses “Clear Ballistics” gel. It is not the standard by which the FBI or ammo companies rate or judge ammunition performance of either depth or expansion. The industry standard is 10 percent organic gel which is yellow. It more closely resembles true human tissue. The reason he and others use the clear ballistics gel is because it is reusable and is cost effective and is not really effected by temperature like 10 percent organic gel is. 10 percent organic gel is only able to be used for one session and then discarded. Ballistic gels are expensive and I understand why people use the clear stuff but make no mistake it’s not able to deliver the true characteristics of a round effectively.
Here's the big thing if rifle shooting. The stinger is and always will be and amazing round. But you need to realize is the stinger is a 32 gr going around 1600 to 1640 fps and the valoscitor is 40gr going around 1400 to 1435 fps so the stinger will more then likely be flatter shooting however I have had guns that tended to jam from the longer casing.... some 22s are picky. But over all the weight fron valoscitor can give u a little more thump on impact. On my farm shooting blackbirds the stinger left quarter size exit and valoscitor left a half dollar ext, that's if it didn't completely remove entire midbody of the bird. Both exceptionally well preforming rounds. Not tested uppercut yet myself. But for now I'd go valoscitor over stinger just for the heavier bullet with less wind drift. Sorry for being long winded just Sharing my experience.
Thanks! With the accuracy, it looks like it’d be a good one for the rifle. Much appreciated ❤ Adjust the advertising and I bet it would do better. Makes sense now, why I couldn’t find it, lol.
I was shooting water bottles with Stingers and was really surprised to find a bunch of pieces of jacket and caught one at about 20-30 yards. Haven't come across any Upper Cut yet, but would like to try!
So, by your testing, the Uppercut seems to be a really good hunting cartridge and the accuracy is very good. I would consider that to be Match grade accuracy. However, I think you are absolutely right about it's use as defensive ammunition. I hope CCI does revamp this ammo if they are going to market it as such and actually test it out of short barrels. I like their .22 LR ammo and this Uppercut intrigued me but I think for the time being I will stick with Velocitors or Stingers in my 2" revolver. Interesting bullpup stock on that 10/22.
Maybe CCI will rename the Uppercut, and release it as a rifle round instead under the new name. The existing Uppercut ammo could become a collector's item. I tried to find them, and never saw them anywhere. I didn't look online much for them, but Midway never had them.

I don't know if it actually helped and it may not feed in some platforms. Maybe try different brands. Keep up the great work big thumbs up 👍
The MiniMag segmented round May come close to the performance of the Uppercut product. It would be interesting to see, but if the accuracy is better out of most rifles than the MiniMag segs, that would be something. The price would have to come down closer MM segs however.
Odd question. Where do you get your non-drying clay? Only thing I can find is the tiny packages of 2 oz bars. The larger stuff that I can find is "air dry" stuff that is ruined shortly after opening. I can’t help but wonder what these different bullets are supposed to do? If you go rabbit hunting, and intend to stew the rabbit, which bullet would you use? I’m just not sure that maximum destruction of a can of dog food (or anything else) is necessary the intent of the design.
Thanks for watching! I'm sure that none of these bullets were designed with the intention of destroying dog food. But, it gives you an idea of what the performance on small game will be. LOL But yeah I don't know any good niche this one would fit into beyond what they already have had on the market for years.
