A "J Flavor" local forecast aired on The Weather Channel in July 1993. Features "Chardonnay" by Network Music (Killer Tracks). All Rights Acknowledged.
Quite possibly the greatest example of TWC in the 1990s, and probably the best LF music of all time, complete with the LF intro, makes this the best EVER.
Yep, Back when the weather channel had 24/7 weather instead of all those reality shows but now it sucks because they got dumb shows and WeatherNation has 24/7 weather they play Jazz Music and have live coverage and it's what TWC used to be before they started reality shows and i watch WeatherNation now and not the weather channel that much anymore.
And on a totally unrelated, yet still relevant note, this was the exact date (Wed July the 14th, 1993) that Super Mario All-Stars was released on the SNES. great great times.
I wish TWC would go back to these good old days again. This was one of the few things about the 1990s I loved. The 1980s were still the best for me, but TWC was the best in the 1990s. The last of the good days for TWC were around 1996 or 1997. After that, they started going downhill. And, the rest, as they say, is history.
God I was always fascinated with the weather channel back in the 90's. Local forecast and all. I decided to go back to that channel not long ago and now has too many shows and no more local forecast. Forshame
I miss the weather channel being 24/7 weather and i miss it being the 1990s and Early 2000s and i always watched this channel just to hear Jazz Music and for safety when bad weather was happening but now this channel sucks because too many reality shows at night and weekends and WeatherNation plays Jazz Music it also has 24/7 weather and has live coverage and it's what this channel used to be before they started reality shows and i watch WeatherNation on the app now.
God I miss the old local forecast and the Weatherstar 4000. I used to love watching it in the mid 90s just for the local forecast and it's graphics, hahaha lol. I was what, 6? I can't even remember the last time I had the channel on. I have the app on my phone. Oh when I was 5, for Christmas, I asked for a "weather computer." no joke. lol
Thank you for posting this!! We need more of these forecasts up- I miss so much of the music. Often times when I was younger (when these were popular and I didn't know what the narrator was saying) I would watch TWC religiously. I had my favorite songs and all on this. God I miss them. THANK YOU for posting this- I'll definitely be doing some audio hijacking (relax, it's just a program) for this music! Thanks again!
@chrisz71 People at school thought I watched the weather channel faithfully because I was interested in meteorology. Well, to be honest, I watched it faithfully to hear the cool ass jazz music playing. Nice songs. Didn't get a jazz station in Indianapolis until 2000's.
Wow...It give me the chills remembering this almost perfectly. One of the best childhood memories right there. I love the backround and foreground layout and the music. Gotta get that song! Ever since, me and my family had relied on TWC ever since. F From the layout TWC has now, I like the color coordination of this 1993 one better.
Used to be able to turn this on and go about my day around the house and be happy with it in the background...can only tolerate it now in short spirts..
The music conveys the feeling of drinking a colorful cocktail on an outdoor chair at the beach on a breezy day, watching the little sailboats go by. Or maybe a deodorant commercial IDK
@chrisz71 Dude I always thought I was the only one who did that. And I agree, circa 1991-1994 was probably the best of it. I went so far as to tape record a lot of these with a handheld recorder. I'm sure I still have those old cassettes lying around somewhere..... but nothing to play them with now! :\
How Irony it was in July was my cousin Danny's 3rd birthday, Candace Flynn, and Caillou was born on Sunday July 11, 1993, and Davey Allison died 2 days later July 13, 1993.
Does anyone know the title of the piece of music played on The Weather Channel's Local Forecast segment during the 1980's which was a piano&violin piece of music that had a sad rolling sound to it that makes you think of sunset turning to dusk or a rainy day? It has a beautifully sad sound to it.
@jeremysgonenorth: 93 was a great year for twc, but i personally liked '91 better for the "you need us the weather channel" catchphrase and jingle, and the first year wae had thiese graphics used for the local forecast in our area...not to mention the music scores used for the local forecast in the winter and spring of '91
Quite possibly the greatest example of TWC in the 1990s, and probably the best LF music of all time, complete with the LF intro, makes this the best EVER.
Back when the Weather Channel had actual weather 24/7 instead of "It Could Happen Yesterday" and "Storm Stories No One Cares About"
Don't forget "Flick and a Forecast".
That was when Weather Channel officially jumped the shark.
JTblcksheep Lmao at weather channel jumping shark

"Storm Stories No One Cares About" XD

I loved the music and the layout of the local on the 8s from the early 90s, mid 90s
The Network Music songs fit the LF's perfectly. I miss the 90's when TWC was watchable and focused. Now they sacrifice reporting for commercials.
Childhood nostalgia overload. Happiness.
33 lol. Where have the years gone man? :(
Sorry but I have never heard of a kid that enjoyed watching the weather channel. The music is pretty nice though
I miss these graphics and the music
@@disconnectedfromtheinterwe9157 Lots of us weird kids out there :). I'm about the same age and loved the Weather Channel as a kid.
The name of the song is Weekend Fun Chardonnay
Now I can merge all the weather channel videos together and loop it for ambiance as to pretend Im still 8yo

Man, I def miss this. The peaceful transitions into the local forecast
Thank you for giving me back my childhood for 3 minutes and 6 seconds.

for my 7th birthday I asked for a doppler radar lmao
I was 17 in 1993 what a great year!
Nostalgic chills
I remember watching the weather channel back when my local cable company had this style of the local forecast system until they changed it around 2000
This was during the epic Midwest Flooding on the mighty Mississippi River.
I'm currently running a weatherstar 4000 emulator. think I'm gonna set up this song to play along with it
i would put this song on my mp3 right about now. killer tracks has some great tracks

I don't know what's sadder: that someone actually uploaded this, or that I actually searched for this.
I graduated high school and was waiting for my first year in college when this was on! I can't believe this is more than 15 years old.

My cable company (Comcast) currently uses Intellistar III.
28 years ago today.

This track along with "Spotlight" are two of my favorites from Killer Tracks.
a e s t h e t i c
Damn. Weather channels have to bring back the tunes!
That's from Columbus, MS Air Force Base.
They should make a channel called classic weather channel from your region
@jeremysgonenorth: 93 was a great year for twc, but i personally liked '91 better for the "you need us the weather channel" catchphrase and jingle, and the first year wae had thiese graphics used for the local forecast in our area...not to mention the music scores used for the local forecast in the winter and spring of '91
