- Scott the Woz was in town for the TooManyGames convention, so we invited him to our offices at Screenwave Media to discuss video game movies. Unfortunately, James is busy working on upcoming videos, like the rest of Monster Madness and AVGN episode 200, so Justin and Kieran joined Scott on this adventure. Together they rank the best and worst video game movies of all time.

Scott speaks much more calmer in this style, and it makes him really sound more and more like James.
Which brings back those comparisons of Scott being the new AVGN style reviewer and takes it full circle.
I'm just a casual viewer of Scott, so I am genuinely curious to hear the comparisons between Scott and AVGN.
I mean, personally I'd call Scott a 'spiritual sequel' since he seems to mainly talk about the history and impact on various video games and it's technology.
he should be a part of the team but at this point he might surpass his popularity

Oh, it's sad. It's Super Mario Bros awful - there's a scene involving "abobo" being force fed - spinach or something. Then twin brothers that are as alike as Samuel l Jackson & John Travolta and only one of them knowing actual martial Arts (Mark Damascos) in a movie based on a fighting game from the 80s.

During the second wave of the pandemic in 2020 Scott did several videos with a bunch of people with no social distancing. If he didn't care about the well-being of his friends and family in 2020 then I don't think he cares enough now to be vaccinated

One thing about Detective Pikachu is that I can genuinely believe it exists in the world of the games, I can’t say that about any other video game movie
No joke, I’d put my S card on Postal. In essence, it is the most accurate depiction of playing Postal that you’ll ever see on the big screen.

House of the Dead is probably my favorite videogame movie because of how hilariously awful it is. I like it for all the wrong reasons but it's great to riff on, even saw it multiple times in theaters.

You guys keep saying Shin Godzilla was all CG but that's not actually true, the monster in Shin Godzilla is actually a person in a rubber suit but all the shots featuring it have been enhanced and touched up with CG much like was done with original Jurassic Park.

I can't agree with S rank for Street Fighter movie since Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie exists and it is so much better in every possible way
I never saw the animated sf2 movie until 2017. It is so awesome.
I saw the street fighter live action movie when it was new. I enjoyed the live action movie for how campy it is.

Wing Commander made the majority of it's box office from people who just wanted to see the trailer for Star Wars Episode I, and then they would leave the theater immediately

I was one of those people who was only there for the Episode 1 trailer, though I did end up staying and watching the movie (which I have absolutely no recollection of).
I don’t really see what was the point of it if none of them saw most of those movies.

Eternal Diva is propably best videogame movie that is animated imo and it's even canon in Layton series timeline. In live action case I think best is Ace Attorney movie.

Can't believe Scott the Woz is in a video with the guy who interviewed Gape Newell.
My S movies would be Mortal Kombat (1995) and Silent Hill 1. The new Mortal Kombat, I know exactly what Kieran means, I wanted to like it, but kept comparing it to the great original. And I couldn't watch all if it, it felt pretty lame. Resident Evil 1 was okayish, but the series quickly went down hill. The sonic movie I found funny/charming, hopefully the next really dives into the lore.
FF7 Advent Children I'd give S, Cloud is soppy but it's great. Also spirits within is great, I wouldn't mind watching it again (even though it weren't FF related, probably the only negative but we got AC anyway)

I love AVGN and the crew but a podcast between all you guys definitely looked better on paper.
The new Mortal Kombat is no less schlocky than the old one, but does a half-assed attempt to be more serious, which makes the schlock feel even more out of place. I prefer the original.
Postal's an E? Sad. I honestly felt that it embraced the spirit of the games more than any other video game movie.
