If you're comparing it to the Bosch Performance line motors: they are failing (according to official statistics by Statista) with a rate of 6.5% in the first two years without limitations of kilometers and there are only two more reliable motors (Yamaha Pwseries ST - 4,3% and Giant SyncDrive sport 6,4%) which both are sold a lot less than the Bosch drive units.
This is going to be much more punchy, powerful, louder, and heavier. Its 90% as powerful as a full ebike. If you like the more natural feeling, lighter bikes, don't have buyers remorse. That trek is awesome.

I’ve never seen a second battery setup like this before. I’ve seen the Bosch Powerpack, but that’s installed on the down tube and plugs in to the motor. I guess this is good that it’s easily removable, but why the regular power adaptor and not a smaller one? More options are never bad though tbh.

@@Pikestnt Bosch dont allow you to service your own bike on the motor side. If you had a YZ 125 you can get parts 30 years later. With Bosch 2 years they call the bike obsolete and only sell parts to authorized service centers. By ransom at the end of the warranty period the service center will hold the bike to just past it, and then charge you for what should be warranty repairs. If you want your bike back you got to pay a ridiculous fee for what takes literally 5 minutes and a flash drive. That's the ransom part... Then when you get the bike back it still dont work cuz they intentionally bricked it so you have to buy a new $5000 or more bike. Hope that clarifies it.

As someone who worked in a Bosch authorized service center, they're a joke. Their competency ends at what the diag tool says or what the Bosch cert class preaches. In my opinion, these centers and "training" is just a Bosch and shop money grab.

The anti tampering includes switching out the battery for a same one of a different ebike will not work because they are serealized replacing the display will not work because it's serealized it can only be connected via that program on that USB stick which only will work in that location so rip on site diagnostic and repair

Using only metal gears will cause much more noise, and it would feel not that good. The plastic gear makes it smoother silent and it saves the other components in case of damage
