I can’t stress enough, do NOT run with shin splints. I ignored the pain and got a stress fracture and haven’t been able to run for 1 year + it’s heart breaking not being able to do what you love. Thank god I’m recovering now. Remember nothing beats rest and have patience in recovery

I had posterior shin splints for almost 5 months since I started playing soccer, after not playing for 10 years. I did everything, stretching, strengthening and even physiotherapy, however, since I got custom orthopedic insoles my posterior shin splints went away, now I can run and play as before, in the end it was a footprint problem.

Jumping jacks. Do like 50 a day. Also stretch calves for 30 secs multiple times a day.
I'm not Doctor, but I used to get shin splints and my uncle told me to do jumping jacks. Without shoes on soft surface like grass

So no orthotics for uneven surfaces?

I had ankle pain and found an immediate cure which was pushing one foot into plantar flexion with the other. It must strengthen the shins. Also maybe stress fracture related to vitamin d deficiency?

Very interesting but I've ended up confused about the implications of what you're saying and what exactly we should change about our footwear and walking style (I'm a hiker and like going up hills!). Are you saying don't wear orthotics when out exercising? All the quality walking boots/shoes I know about have raised heels and firm arch supports, so do we not need to use orthotics in those shoes? If we wear ordinary flat shoes on rough ground then aren't we risking other types of injury because of the lack of support and inferior tread of those shoes? Please advise me! Thanks.

    • @proudfatherofnone

Don't overeat. Don't lay down after eating. Take a ppi as prescribed by gastroenterologist. There are surgeries for that.
