Episode 97: Blanton's Straight From The Barrel

- Today we reviewed Blanton's Straight From The Barrel. This is the barrel proof version of Blanton's. The proof ranges in the 125 to 130 area. Blanton's SFTB has a MSRP of $150 and is quite hard to find. Blanton's was started back in 1984 by Elmer T. Lee as the first Single Barrel bourbon documented. As a Buffalo Trace product, this bourbon is highly allocated and comes out once per year in the fall.

Was in Kentucky this past weekend (Louisville) I tried blantons gold at Justin's house of bourbon. So delicious!!! Me and the guys are planning to make a trip to Japan and hunt for the other versions of Blanton's
Damn Black Ice... that’s what’s up. I need to plan an international vaca with the crew, and seek out some good bourbon while im there. Smart man... I do wish though they would simply make more and have it available in the USA

I was able to trade for a SFTB a couple years ago, drink it sparingly. The Golds used to be easy to get in Canada but now they are lottery. Usually get 1 or 2 of those a year at $100 Cad in Ontario.

Great video. I live in Australia so I was able to buy a bottle of SFTB. haven't opened it yet Might try and get another one first and drink one keep one in the collection. But great video really loved it

@@BourbonJudge i was able to find it at one of the big liquor chains here and then had to drive and pick it up. im hoping they get another one in. I got a GOLD as well and will probs get a second gold when I've got some more funds
But yes we are lucky enough to get SFTB, GOLD and Michters Toasted Barrell Strength Ryes. But you just have to HUNT a bit online and be ready to buy as soon as they pop up.
Just in time, your honor. We wee folk just got a 375 ml of Ancient Age so we could at least sample the same mash bill as Blanton's. Seems people either love it or love to trash talk it. Sipping on Buffalo Trace and Very Old Barton too as I watch NFL divisional Playoffs and you at halftime. Any Superbowl predictions, your Honor?

@@BourbonJudge I've really grown fond of both Old Forester 100 proof offerings of Bourbon and Rye as go-to's. Each is under $20, here, and always available, and just deluxe, imo. Another that comes close is the Old Grand Dad Bottled In Bond. I like it even better than 114!!! Cheers, Your Honour!!!
