@@Tngoz Ok, thanks. Won't be around there anytime soon. Lowest I found it in areas that I goto is $50 total (no sales tax on booz there)... Anyway, actually never had the Rare Breed yet & wanted to ask people how much different/better is it than the WT101? This year got a bunch of the 101 when found the 1.75L for $32.50 total, or $13.93/750mL. So was not in a rush to pay 3-4Xs for something that may be the same thing, just 10-15 proof higher. Would probably cost less to figure out how to remove water from the 101 & make it 115P, hah.. Yeah, so not sure if Rare Breed is aged any longer or selected from different barrels than 101. That would make some difference.
Old Forester 100 Is my daily drinker- great whiskey… my GGP & Grandfather made whiskey to sell in the clear, but they drank Old Forester… been a family tradition up here in the Mitten where I’m from for all of my 54 years… just did some work on a cabin my fam used to log, distill & hunt from , & found a really old jug of Forester- was still primo after 50 years 🏴☠️
Still Austin is doing slow water reduction so they basically re-add water to barrels so they don’t lose water so fast in the Texas heat. I think that’s the difference in flavor you get and it really tastes great!
The EW BIB is decent but I like the EW 1783 better. It’s a slightly lower proof but a lot more mature with an average age of 6 to 8 years. The BIB they pretty much bottle and ship the day it hits 4 years and it’s a bit too young for my taste.
I am Brazilian and I live in Brazil. I love your content. To me is the best YT channel related to cigars and whiskeys(Brian and whiskey tribe included) and other stuff. But let´s say that the Us Dollar is in the same price quote of brazilian Real...those whiskeys would cost over hundreds of dollars..So you guys are fortunate. The variety, the quality, all of what we would never have...
Haven't seen the Jim Black 7 in my area yet but heard good things. Your list is spot on! For $35-40 give Redwood Empire Lost Monarch a try! It's a great one!
Great show! You featured several offerings from my shelf. The Turkey Trot: Russell's Reserve 10yr, Kentucky Spirit, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. The Storming Brown Forman: Old Foster 1910, Cooper's Craft 100, Old Foster 1920, and Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof. The Early Times Bottled in Bond, OGD 114, and Benchmark Full Proof, 1792 Bottled in Bond and Full Proof, not to mention a few others. Have a great day! Cheers!
Still Austin has so much potential. It just needs another year in the barrel to mellow out the grain/youthful notes. I still like the cask strength. It just needs that little bit extra time.
One of my staples, and quite frankly a good blanton’s replacement, is woodford double oaked. I can get it for 55-60 where I’m at so it’s always on the shelf.
I haven’t had Jim Beam Black 7 yet but I can’t wait to do a blind between it and Evan William’s Small Batch. I’ve had all the rest you featured on your list and completely agree with you. Still Austin is hard to find here in rural Kentucky or I’d have more of it. Love the channel, keep it coming
Out of the Old Forester collection, I like the 1910 the best! Wild Turkey Rare Bread is the best. (Period) Penelope toasted is a good pick too. The Still Austin pick, not a fan. It’s ok I don’t like Sagamore, including their highly rated Ryes Knob Creek is over rated to me First time viewer! Love your show. Thanks for sharing.
I have been following for over a year now and love what you put out! As a military guy coming up on retirement soon #retired I love expanding on my whiskey pallet. #Bangforyourbuck #Viski
Love the list!!! Haven’t had Still Austin though. That Jim Beam Black 7 year is a bargain banger!!! I put it up there with my favorite bargain banger WT101.
Im at the stage of my whiskey journey where I dont chase any bottles anymore and only drink what I can pull off the shelf. Wild turkey and Old Forester are the sweet spot for me between availability, price, and quality. #bangforyourbuck #Viski
just picked up 2 bottles for $17 each here in Jacksonville based on @JeremySiers recommendation. Turn's out we live a 1/2 mile apart! Smells smooth and will try after dinner.
If you can get it in you area get a new riff single barrel. Bought one last week and went in the next day to get a backup. Single barrel 118 proof from Kentucky 4 years old for 50$ is my new favorite. Call it the Blantons killer
Some hitters I'd toss in are Old Grand Dad 114, Benchmark Full Proof, and New Riff single barrel bourbon. My bottle of Knob Creek 120 proof was kind of harsh at first, but after a week or so of opening up the bite really mellowed out and now it's delicious.
OGD 114 & Bonded are fantastic, but what hurts them from being on the value list (at least the Bonded) is that they are not available in the 1.75L size. Bonded has 1L in some states, but 114 is 750mL only.
Bought some Viski whiskey glasses based on this reco and I have to admit they are great. I feel the aroma and flavor is enhanced and weight/balance is perfect.
Love and agree with this entire list...really enjoy the content! Still Austin is doing great things...that double oak Sag is great, I'm also a big fan of their 8-yr and cask strength. And just came across that rebranded Beam...so great for the price...as good as some recent Bookers IMO.
Going to have to revisit my Penelope Toasted. Didn't think it was bad, but not exactly my jam. Give me all the SA offerings. Def putting Texas Bourbon on the map. Maybe the only texas whiskey I have liked. Have you tried Dettling Cask Strength Bourbon out of Atmore Alabama? Its amazing. Dark, buttery, chocolatey, and a nice finish. Price point is above this review, just thought I would mention it.
Everybody's different. A lot of people like Maker's 46 but, I get a good flavor from it, but on the nose I get a fingernail polish remover that is hard for me to get past. Rare Breed is one I don't let myself run out of. I'm also a big fan of double oaks. I also love Ryes. One of my favorite farm distilleries is coming out with a new rye this summer, and I just happen to be visiting the area when the release is happening. I am definitely booking a tour, and tasting.
I just picked up a Penelope Toasted this past weekend. It’s only a char level 2. It is very tasty. I pick up a lot of honey notes on it. Would be interesting to try yours with the (what I am assuming is their…Alligator Char”)
I was watching a completely unrelated video (about space), stopped in the middle to run errands. On those errands I grabbed a bottle of Knob Creek SB Select store pick. Came home, finished video, in the suggested videos was this video's thumbnail featuring the exact bottle I had just bought. Serendipity. I then watch said video and it's a veritable list of all my favorites since I'm such a toasted and double oaked fan. I'm just pointing at the screen nodding for the most part. Cheers!

I second Old Forster 1920 and Knob Creek SB, which doesn’t have to be a store pick. I like Wild Turkeys 101 and Rare Breed, what I prefer though is use that money to buy me Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel, very nice experience and much more complex and enjoyable. Cheers!
spot on...that new jim beam 7 year is insane for the price. but the best value for the buck is for sure knob creek sb picks..however im shocked there was no Makers Mark store pick on here as around 110 ish proof and priced well makes my top 10 for sure!!! Cheers
Love wild turkey 101 and the Still Austin cask strength is excellent. I would have also included Jack Daniels Single barrel barrel proof and the barrel proof Ryes are always excellent.
Nice list but no OGD bonded?! What a shame Jeremy! I won’t hold it against you this time but now that I think of it I will have a glass and a Te-Amo to go with it

Jeremy.. You should try Blackland Rye or Blackland Bourbon from Blackland Distillery in Fort Worth. Such amazing whiskey. If you did a blind taste test would you think it was an $80 to $90 bottle that is only $32.

i love toasted and double barreled products and i really wanted to like penelope, but the toasted and the rose finish give me very little other than hot young juice. the 9 year barrel proof was okay but im convinced i just got bad bottles :/ absolute banger of a list all around tho
