Just got 2 stagg 24A from my local kroger in Lexington for $52 each. Got a birthday bourbon from the same store 2 weeks ago for $196. And 2 or 3 weeks before that, I got a weller 12, full proof, cypb and a single barrel for $55 each….think I found a honey hole lol
You guys are killing it lately. Its crazy how much we agree on. I scored Birthday Bourbon 2024 8.2/10. Its excellent but definitely missing something that would put it over into 'special'.
I agree with the list with the exception of the 4Roses LE. I really like that bottle and hope that David comes around on it for the end of year bottles.
Agreed on many of these. The Woodford Batch Proofs have priced themselves too high for something non age stated. The Old Forester Barrel Strengths are sitting more and some of them the flavor is lost due to the higher proof point IMO. The Magnus Cigar Batches have priced themselves too high now I see them sitting quite often. Kind of shocked you guys didn't mention Midwinter Nights Dram those have priced themselves way to high for what they are. However if you don't want that Four Roses LE I will happily take that off of your hands.
I went to jim beam this past weekend. I tried OGD 16 and little book infinite. I didn't think either was worth 200. So I walked out with Bakers 13 and old overholt 11 year cask strength rye for like 60 bucks more then ran to four roses bottling facility and grabbed a 10 year OESK tier 2 and was much happier with my 3 bottles for less than getting OGD 16 and little book the infinite. Old overholt is a BANGER
I wish all limited releases were bottled in 375ml only (or 90% of the batch). Cut the price in half or close to in half, and double the bottle count. Twice as many people get to try it, and you only have to risk half as much $$$
I want to agree, but I will say, with the trending of pricing from the big companies. I can 100% see them lowering the price on 375s at first, but release after release before we know it the 375s will be just as much as the 750s and they will all just state that they did what we requested and so on and so forth. I could be completely wrong, just something I fear

I know there's been a lot of speculation the bourbon bubble is going to pop, but this feels like the first indicator that it might actually happen. Been too many expensive releases lately that just don't meet expectations. I've even seen a few blinds lately in which tasters were surprised that the regular expression from a few brands seemed to be off profile. Wonder if we're hitting that point where it's going to be harder to pick out the good barrels in a glut of mediocre product trying to flood the market.
I agree on that cigar blend The first batches which I have were good they kind of dropped off in the early '90s? And they just seem to be okay probably bought up all MGPs good barrels😂😂
We are with you, guys! We opened the Infinite the other night and our overall take was: mediocre with some oak notes. Don't allow the hivemind to tell you you're crazy.
I am incredibly confused on the hype over Little Book Infinite. Not bad Bourbon, but certainly not as good as a number of people are making it out to be, and I am a huge Beam fan (pours glass of Jacob's Well 211).
Price keeps me from getting many of these. Plus seeing them is a challenge. I like Bookers anything yes some are off profile but to me still bangers. But I'm a big JB fan. If its over a 100 its a pass for my budget. And it has to be spectacular at 100 for me to drop that on a single bottle. I'm a huge fan of Wild Turkey as well and as I get older and I'm old I find myself staying with shelf available bottles its just easier. I've never camped for a bottle and never will if I can't walk in and get it its not worth having. Enjoy!! 🥃🥃🥃
I'm not a big Old Forester SiB Barrel Strength fan. With all the barrel strength options out there, I just don't think the Old Forester Single Barrels are worth spending $100+ on.

The small batch cask strength bottle they discussed in the video is $80 in my area but the aged stated SiB cask strength bottles are around $200 MSRP in most places and $250-300 on secondary. Relatively speaking, the small batch cask strength is pretty solid for the price but I’d rather ECBP or JDSBBP in that range.

Four Roses LE is probably the best allocated bourbon you can buy - period. It's always beautifully blended, it has genuinely old bourbon in it plus they give full transparency and it's not outrageously expensive. Seems a bit sus as a (granted, self-proclaimed) reviewer to tell people not to buy something based on your own flavor profile. I personally don't like Wild Turkey very much, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy a Rare Breed just because it's not one my favorites.

I usually love your content, but this video was a miss. No way you agree that all of these bottles aren’t worth it. Availability is different across the states and you guys get the pick of the litter! In the gift stores almost every week and drinking Presidents Choice like it’s JDSBBP. These bottles are still special. Enjoy bourbon how you will folks.
Starting to realize store pick/single barrels are the best buys. Especially once you find a store you like/trust. Or find someone sourcing great stuff from mgp. Hunting bourbon is totally overrated
Are these guys serious? An embarrassment of riches. The vast majority of enthusiasts out there would be more than stoked to have any of these special releases. These guys are way out of touch.
Think you missed the point of the video. Most people may only come across 1-2 of these bottles each year and, in their opinion, these bottles don’t drink “special” despite their designation (and pricing) reflecting as such so they’re trying to help consumers spend their money wisely and find the best products. They had multiple sub-$100, available bottles on the list…these aren’t all unicorns.

I just got a store pick knob creek rye 117 proof bottled in 2019 for 35.00 old bottle this is insanely good rye
Great review. One different opinion, I picked up a 117 Series Batch 3 that I tried at the bar and liked better than the President's choice.

My LE bottle of 4 roses is something special. I feel bad you got such a bad bottle. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Such a great experience.

The Penelope 9 yr Private Select was good this year I liked last years better
I am an Old Forester lover but since the allocated bottles don't get to my part of Indiana, I stay with 1920, 1897 and OF 100 proof.
Got a OF blue label pick from evergreens in bardstown and it’s fantastic

I got the cask strength for $100 in Dallas, TX and it was just meh...It's not "bad" but def would be bummed if I shelled out 3 bills for it.
