I have a huge array of whiskeys and I never understood the hate for Jack... I actually like the smell and taste, I find it smooth and sweet. Sure, it's not nearly as complex and special as some others, but I don't really have a bad experience with it. Maybe others just over-drink it in college and do stupid stuff then associate the drink with those emotions. Overall though, I find it pretty decent.

It has a strange taste, it tastes like feet. x) For the price you can get much better. I usually even prefer to drink a Jim Beam White if I want something simple and cheaper. In my country Jack's price sometimes goes up as high as Maker's Mark, and Maker's is just a whole different category, or Jim Beam Black which is again much-much-much better

Also in increasingly higher quantities (start with maybe 1/4 ounce and scale up to a full shot by the end). The person would freely choose to continue or not, same as Hot Ones, and the real deals can finish with that darn shot.
This episide is just amazing, Briana needs to be a reccurent host in this channel, this kind of host bring a fresh and accessible way to invite people to discover this wonderful world of spirits :) please give her a chance !!
@@fredlabosch5164 Johnnie Red is a good blended whisky. I tried Johnnie Black, but like Red better. I prefer Cutty Sark to either. Even bottom shelf blends can be very drinkable. A friend set up a blind tasting once, and Old Crow came out #1. Sometimes top shelf is worth the money, sometimes it's just marketing.
Ya his thought process was going back to when he was saying how not to stop on one word but to keep digging, He was helping her develop her whiskey vocabulary. Funny comment though just wanted to point that out.
Briana is very honest now that she's more comfortable with what she's doing. The guys have done a great job of making her feel like she's part of the team and valued for providing the newbie lady perspective. She is a trip! A whisky date with her would be an Uber night for sure.

Coming back to this video nearly a year later to say, please keep making Whiskey Curious videos! At least as physical distancing craziness allows. Even if the process is the same every time, watching you two guide whiskey noobs from popular and accessible to interesting and challenging will always be super entertaining and fascinating to me.
Brianna actually has a very good sense of aroma's for a beginner. Excellent, even! If she can actually name stuff like lemoncake and chocolate covered cherries on here first nosing, she's golden for a career of whisky smelling and tasting! Most beginners I meet don't go any further than describing it as "awful rubbing alcohol" if nothing less.
If she did ASMR videos of her taking shots and giving soft-spoken tasting notes like she does in this video, I don't think I would be mad at all. Good video. Great personality
I just wanted to say as a noob, this channel has been incredibly helpful and wildly entertaining. Recently became a fan of Bulleit Rye and Woodford Reserve's wheat, reminds me of a boozy applesauce.
It's a great channel for new explorers and it would have been great to have it when I started. However the exploring is just part of the journey and it's best done hands on so welcome aboard and hope you enjoy.
She was so entertaining and I really appreciated their friendly introductions and gentle coaxing of terms and tasting notes. I initially thought this was going to be a pretty pretentious video (having never seen the channel), but man, you guys had me laughing along pretty good a few times.

This channel, especially this video, and the full Ardbeg follow up introduced me to the whole idea of Islay Scotch and I've never turned back after trying Ardbeg.
I've been to the Jack Daniels Distillery. They let you smell it before and after the filtering. Before it is filtered it smells very yeasty like raw bread dough.
I have watched this one a few times. The "noob" approach is fantastic! I love when Daniel and Rex talk whisk(e)y . . . it is so helpful. However, watching them talk a noob through is even better. I have had most of what was tried here and went along recognizing what was described. I would love to see a "Noob" series . . . and if you could get celebrities to join, that would be "fantastic-er". Celebrities from Sports, The News, and, of course, movies and TV. Great stuff!!
What a fun spirit she has, what a doll! My grandma would be totally down for a 5-way twister match for cash on the front lawn half way through. You've given me great plans to do this in my bar. I totally predicted the Monkey Shoulder the moment you said blended scotch. I was interested in your choices for the sequence. A true roller coaster ride there. One of those old wooden ones where you get lulled for a moment up high riding the smooth curves taking in the views and just when you turn to tell your cousin to check out the chicks waiting for cotton candy below you get slammed down a 100 percent grade until you throw up one of your own feet. Today I tried sipping a bourbon "like hot coffee" for the first time, after watching this video. (I've seen a few earlier videos that suggested it too).

I like how Daniel&Rex diverted from the top ten most popular whiskies after only four. Meaning, as whisky lovers we can't help but spare newbies from the terrible choices they're bound to make with "popular/beginner whiskies."

I have tried some whiskeys and bourbons like Johnny Walker, Jack Daniels, Jamison, Jeam Beam, Four Roses, Bullet Burbon, Aberlour, Monkey Shoulder...etc, but I am a total fan of Islay single malt whiskeys like Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore. I love smokiness and complexity of the taste. Thank you for teaching me. 👍

I've been to the Jack Daniels Distillery. They let you smell it before and after the filtering. Before it is filtered it smells very yeasty like raw bread dough.

I have watched this one a few times. The "noob" approach is fantastic! I love when Daniel and Rex talk whisk(e)y . . . it is so helpful. However, watching them talk a noob through is even better. I have had most of what was tried here and went along recognizing what was described. I would love to see a "Noob" series . . . and if you could get celebrities to join, that would be "fantastic-er". Celebrities from Sports, The News, and, of course, movies and TV. Great stuff!!

What a fun spirit she has, what a doll! My grandma would be totally down for a 5-way twister match for cash on the front lawn half way through. You've given me great plans to do this in my bar. I totally predicted the Monkey Shoulder the moment you said blended scotch. I was interested in your choices for the sequence. A true roller coaster ride there. One of those old wooden ones where you get lulled for a moment up high riding the smooth curves taking in the views and just when you turn to tell your cousin to check out the chicks waiting for cotton candy below you get slammed down a 100 percent grade until you throw up one of your own feet.
