    I really don't feel like veganism lacks variety at all. There are so many different plant based food. I think other diets are much more limiting. But others might disagree. Also I've been vegan for 7 years and the only thing I supplement regularly is B12. I have considered switching to a multivitamin that also contains B12, but over all the years I've been vegan I've never had a problem. That's just been my personal experience though.

    Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for making the video. I have been struggling about what kind of diet I should do to lose weight and EVERYONE has an opinion on my eating habits. I tried both paleo and vegan (out of pressure) and I didn't feel good on either of those diets. Now I am working on creating my own diet based on recipes that I find on your site and other whole nutrition sites that make me feel good and that I like!! I am going to listen to my own body, because she is the best expert. Thanks again! I always enjoy your information.

    So funny when you mentioned the introduction using a diet name rather than their first name. Happened to my mom once--she genuinely thought one of my friends' name was Vegan for a while. 🤣 I can't imagine introducing myself as something like "plant-based, whole food-focused, organic-preferring, local-supporting omnivore." 😜

    Joy you ended your video by saying ‘I hope you enjoyed this video’..... Well I personally thought it was excellent!!!! As you rightly said it can be VERY confusing listening to all these conflicting ideas and oftentimes fads. I am not at all overweight, in fact I’m very petite, but I have had health issues for decades, and I know it’s because of my very poor digestion. But I have found something that resonates with me, so I’m going to stick with it. Variety truly is the key, and also eating what we know we can absorb and digest. So thank you for your suggestion to eat what makes us thrive and feel good. Keep up the good work hun.

    I disagree that a vegan diet is limited because of my own experience. You will thrive if you grow your own food

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's definitely ways you can thrive on a vegan diet but there are a lot of things to consider from a nutritional stand point before approaching it to ensure all of your nutritional needs are being met. But as long as you feel good, that's what matters most :)

    • @gaarcemail
      @gaarcemail 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its limited to the extent that there are foods that are off limits to you, which may or may not be good for you, in the long run.

    I started to listen to that same podcast with the Balanced Blondie and had to stop because they began to discuss how she was condemned by vegans for no longer being vegan. But I recall when she wrote that book "Breaking Vegan" the criticism from most vegans came from her blaming her health issues from orthorexia on a vegan diet implying it's an unhealthy diet. That's irresponsible and misleading.

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't read her book so I can't speak to that but I am very aware of people being seriously harassed by choosing to eat animal foods again. This is so disappointing because I think we don't always know what someone else is going through and so I condemn this type of behaviour. However, what I did like about this interview on UHP with the balanced blonde was the message that it didn't matter what others were saying because she chose to eat the foods that made her body thrive. In my opinion, as long as you're eating whole foods most of the time with the occasional mindful indulgence then you're doing a great thing for your body! Thanks for your comment!

    • @patty-cf7jj
      @patty-cf7jj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joyous Health I agree! Just a poor choice for the title of her book but I guess the more controversial a title can be the more it will sell!

    Loved the video! You're absolutely right. I've been tracking what I eat to find out what is and isn't working for me. It's been a great exercise for teaching me to listen to my body and how food effects it. Also Paleo isn't that expensive. The protein per meal should only be 3-8 oz, 2-4 oz per snack the rest is made up of non starchy and some starchy veg with fruit and clean fats. Like any menu if you meal plan, shop sales, and are even part of shopping clubs (Costco, Sam's club) you can save a lot. Thank you for all the great content😁😁

    Good video, I agree with your common sense approach to eating. If you are doing paleo, veganism, or keto properly, you are miles ahead of the SAD diet most Americans eat. The 3 groups should emphasize what we have in common- that we care about our health and the environment, and eat a lot of plant based foods, and no processed foods

    • @joyoushealth

      I would recommend you do a food journal for 1-2 weeks and write down how you feel after each meal. This will help you identify problem foods. For example, take note of foods that make you bloated or anxious or tired. Of course there are more symptoms than just those three that can be triggered by food, but a food journal is a great start.

    Hello joy! I'm so confused, why so many opinions on eggs? Are eggs God for you or not? I want to ear eggs but I'm scared when I hear how bad the cholesterol is. What's your take on eggs? Please help!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eggs are awesome for you! They serve as a healthy source of fat which is a vital macronutrient for the health of our brain, organs and cells. Eggs have got a bad rep in the past because of cholesterol but eggs do not actually raise cholesterol. Your body makes its own cholesterol and has the ability to down regulate production when it senses too much in the blood. Cholesterol doesn't rise from eating high-cholesterol containing foods but from eating foods that the body uses to make cholesterol. I hope that helps to clarify things!

People need to try different styles to see which suits them best, and not feel they're doing something wrong if they dont follow the correct formula for a particular diet. Girl thank you for pointing out that just because we're not all Vegan, Keto, Paleo, or Vegetarian gives no cause to preach, judge, or criticize each other. I have tried, researched & read up on about every diet out there. The one that makes me feel best does include meat & eggs. I tried Vegan and eating lots of plant based proteins & a rainbow of plant foods and I never felt as good as I wanted to. When I incorporated lean meats & eggs back in my diet then I felt better. Personally, I don't think there is a one size fits all diet. I know Vegans & many others would argue this all day long saying if that is the case then why did Adam & Eve start out as Vegans. However, our bodies, climate, and lifestyles have evolved since then. Everyone doesn't have 100% identical biological makeup. And furthermore, the best way to make people hear you out or even consider "your side" is to do it with love, kindness, and no judgement. Otherwise, being preached at & criticized automatically puts a wall up. So thank you for this!

    What about just plain old plant based. Not vegan. Vegans are ethical, and yes they eat junk. Whole food plant based is just what it says whole foods, no processed foods, and the variety is amazing! Yum!

      I definitely believe in emphasizing plants in the diet as a general foundation but everyone has their unique needs and might need other additions to that diet to feel their best :)

    Lmao vegans need a good source of iron and zinc? What a great nutritionist 😂
