    I have only today stumbled across your TH-cam channel and being someone who is completely blind and recently looking into natural health and plant-based foods this is by far the best channel I’ve come across. You are absolutely incredible, your knowledge, the way you present. I’m bingeing on your videos now. Thank you so much for sharing, I’m learning so much. X

    Your videos always have such nice quality content!! This was fun!! And I love that you're letting us know what's coming up!! Nice touch!! I can't wait for the pantry items since that's where I feel most people store junk!!

    Some people choose the wrong careers and are boring when they attempt to share what they think they know with others. You, on the other hand, are quite refreshing. I truly enjoyed watching this video and will reference it to research most of the products you have in your fridge. I say most because soy is not good for the thyroid as it depletes the body of iodine. Thanks, Joy, for sharing. Much appreciated.

    Also, a bit off-topic, but what products do you use for your hair? It's always so nice and shiny. I know it always starts with nutrition but mine recently got matte and dry :( and it gets oily fast on the roots. I've been using organic and natural shampoos for 6 years now (I even have a blog dedicated to organic beauty), so I don't know what is wrong with my hair now. xx

    so useful Joy. I wish I had all your tips when I was pregnant of my first son last year :-). You are full of joy Joy. Every time I watch your video, it makes my day, you're inspiring! I am looking forward to the other videos. Is it true that you should always eat any vegetable rich in Lycopene like tomatoes or carrots with fats to help absorption of vitamin A by your body ? Many thanks. Marianne

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marian Smet Thanks so much lady! You're sweet ;) Lycopene and beta-carotene (precursor to Vitamin A) just like many other antioxidants is best absorbed in the presence of fat, this is why extra-virgin olive oil and avocados are a great pairing with tomatoes and carrots go great with the good fats in hummus!

      STEPHANIE MAE Tamari should be refrigerated after opening otherwise it will ferment further and spoil quickly. It should say on the bottle to refrigerate -- same with maple syrup, says on the bottle.

    Great video! Do you have any posts on the types of probiotics you use?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Morgan Smith I don't have a recent post but I can just tell you what I'm using right now... I use Progressive brand HCP 70. It's a broad-spectrum probiotic on par with Genestra brand which I used to take for years. However, what works for me may not work for you. It's always best to talk to a healthcare practitioner to find the right dosage and type of probiotic. You may find that 70 billion bacteria per day is too much and you may need to start at a lower dosage. Hope that helps!

    You look great! your hair is amazing. If you have time, please, film some tips on how you treat your hair(shampoo, conditioner, mask, leave in) thanks in advance!
    Also, i have a question. I'm pregnant too) and I heard that its good to eliminate any meat and dairy from the diet approximately 1 month before labor. do you know anything about it? or any opinion?
    thank you!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angel- A Thank you! I don't do much other than wash it 1-2x per week... the less washes the better! Those natural oils are amazing for shiny hair. In the winter I use coconut oil in my hair because it gets very dry where I live. Once and I while I will do a DIY treatment on my hair but not regularly. When pregnant I do not think you should put these kinds of restrictions on yourself. As long as you are eating high quality whole foods on an every day basis that is truly the most important thing. The more variety the better. I personally eat very little dairy but I was that way before getting pregnant. Listen to your body because it will always tell you what it needs. Hope that helps :)

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paleo Y'all Hey there, I'm taking mostly pregnancy supplements right now so not really applicable to the average person. I would suggest you talk to a healthcare practitioner -- preferably a certified nutritionist or Naturopathic Doctor who can advise you what you should take based on your health history, health goals etc etc. However, some brands I really like are Genestra, AOR, Thorne, New Chapter, Progressive -- these are all more premium brands. In most cases, the pricier supplements tend to be higher quality and better bioavailability but of course there are some exceptions to that rule. This is why it's always good to talk to an expert who can put together a custom recommendation based on you :)

      Amour Corn is a great source of fiber, just be sure to purchase organic. I wouldn't consider it a "weight loss" food but I also wouldn't call it a "weight gain" food. As long as you are eating plenty of high quality protein, good fat and vegetables and anti-inflammatory foods you'll be well on your way to achieving your ideal weight. hey joy, I feel that I don't get a lot of nutrients from the foods I eat because I am a picky eater. I am thinking of taking multivitamens and supplements. Which brand would you recommend. I am looking for vitamens for my thinning hair especially.

      superstar4895 I always recommend food first and supplements are "supplemental" to a good diet :) That being said, it's best to talk to a natural healthcare practitioner who knows your complete health history and goals and can advise you what would be best for you. I do like these brands for multis: Genestra, AOR, Thorne, New Chapter, Progressive. For thinning hair I would rule out low iron and low thyroid function. Also if you are just not getting adequate nutrition from food you could be lacking the essential nutrients for hair growth. Here are some foods for healthy hair: www.joyoushealth.com/blog/2015/02/11/part-2-beauty-foods-healthy-hair/

      Natalia Piaszczyk I like both Progressive and Genestra/Seroyal -- those are the 2 main ones I use but there are more good brands than just those.

    The feeling of disappointment and sadness when I saw the cruelty and suffering in the fridge ... what is joyous in cruelty ? 😕

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry you're feeling sad. I'm sure there are many vegans on youtube with fridges that you can look at. My family and I are not vegan, we eat mostly plant-based but feel our best with animal foods too.

      Not vegan. I enjoy a plant-based diet but because of my blood type, I feel best when I include a bit of animal protein :)
