    Can I give the Genuine Health probiotics to my 6 and 4 year olds? Or do they need their own at this age? Right now I open an HMF forte pill and pour half the powder in each of their drinks. I think I might try the Fermented Protein powder too!! I'm excited that you're back to the TH-cam vids!! woohoo

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do this sometimes too, but the best is really to give babies and toddlers probiotics formulated for their age. Since you're using Genestra already, I would simply switch to "HMF Child". Hope that helps!

    Hi Joy, I have seen this video many times and the truth is that you have a very beautiful energy. I would also like to ask you a question, is there any difference in taking probiotics for women or those that you take? I speak of the same brand that you like. Genuine Health. Thank you!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just a slight difference. The advanced gut health probiotics DAILY women probiotics from Genuine Health will have specific strains that are beneficial to women's health. It's not to say "regular" probiotics aren't beneficial though. It's simply a preference :)

    I noticed when looking at Genuine Health's website for the U.S. they don't appear to sell the probiotic capsules that you were speaking of. Is there another way to find or purchase them in the U.S? Also, just FYI I had DM you a while back, just wanted to let you know in case you haven't checked your messages. Love this video!

    My four year old son gets sick a lot and I decided I would ask his pediatrician about getting him on a probiotic supplement and her eyes opened wide and she said "nooooooo" he just needs the flu shot. My gut tells me I need him on probiotics but not sure what brand to get for kids. My respect for doctors has unfortunetly declined over the years because doctors always seem to think natural health care and treating symptoms with food is bad:/ is there a brand for kids you recommend? Thank you for this very informative video!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's very unfortunate. You know your little one best. There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving him probiotics, they can only help not harm. I would recommend going to your local health food store and asking for a recommendation.

    This is so helpful!! If your colon health is poor, will you properly utilize prebiotics (or do the prebiotics aid in creating a healthy colon)? I am a health coach, so I have been taught how to create healthy digestive systems. But we never got the WHY behind what we were doing...drives me crazy! I just want to know for my own knowledge! One day perhaps I'll be a Holistic Nutritionist :)

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to have existing good bacteria in your gut first. The probiotics then help to feed that beneficial bacteria and keep it alive, to hopefully outweigh the bad bacteria. Hope that helps :)

    I have a question that might be better answered as a future video since it's likely to be a long-winded answer and I'm sure would benefit more than just me. My husband takes a drug that affects his immune system (TNF inhibitor to be specific), so I'm wondering if there are foods/supplements that would help keep his immune system strong, and also if there are some foods that we should likely avoid. There's nothing from a medical standpoint that we've been told to include or avoid, but I'm thinking from a holistic standpoint there might be a few tips and tricks in there somewhere :)

    I've learned green bananas are a great prebiotic and to make things with green banana flour.

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exactly! Although I didn't go into that much detail, you're exactly right. When bananas are not yet ripe they are rich fiber that is not digested by our digestive system.

    Thanks for an awesome and informative video! This was exactly what I was looking for! Hah! I had to go on an antibiotic last week - ack...sinus infection that would not give up the ghost! Anyway, I have noticed that I am craving sugar and it's got me worried that I may have a yeast problem! So I am glad to have a refresher for what pro and pre-biotics to eat...like yummy sauerkraut! Thank you sooo much Joy. Didn’t expect a reply in “minutes”, but I really appreciate it, you and all that you teach. You may not fully realize the reach of your information, but it has had a profound impact on the quality of my life. I am a diabetic and was diagnosed a while ago with polymyositis. I have a LOT more to implement into my diet, but following your advise, I have regained a LOT of control over my blood glucose levels and substantially reduce my doses of insulin. The lemon water every morning and the anti inflammatory smoothies coupled with following your anti inflammatory recommendations for the foods to eat and not eat have unbelievably reduced my joint swelling and the associated pain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and God Bless you and your family. I will forever be in your debt…. John

    I want to add that my son is very very gluten sensitive and gets eczema and so bloated I feel so bad for him. I have celiac disease too and I wonder what I can do to strengthen our immune systems. It really is frustrating going to the doctor and all they suggest is flu and vaccines. He is fully vaccinated minus the flu....I just don't trust their input after saying we shouldn't be in probiotics...

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would highly recommend you see a Naturopath or a Certified Nutritionist who can be complementary to your primary practitioner (your doctor). There are so many things you can do to strengthen you immune system especially from a dietary perspective. Whenever I'm feeling under the weather I eat lots of raw garlic. For my daughter I give her Vitamin D daily which is very important for a strong immune system as it helps the body better identify viruses before they take over. The probiotic I talk about in this video is gluten-free and that would be very beneficial for you and your son depending how old he is for your immune system too.

    I take a probiotic with soil based organisms. Do you have an opinion on SOBs? (By the way, loved hearing you on the Ultimate Health podcast recently!)

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soil based organisms are definitely something that interests me! Right now the research has been limited to animal studies only with no research on humans. However, every time you eat plant foods you're likely to be exposed to microorganisms from the soil especially if you grow your own food! Once we have good human research then I will consider taking them myself. Hope that helps!

    I need to know is those only the food groups that contains prebiotics?
    What makes genuine health so trusty ?
    Most companies are claiming the same issues ?
    Should I take the suplement each day ?
    Is there any food group that counters the effect of the bacteria and what about ACV after food im trying to stick with to improve digestion?
    Thanks Jouyous , you are my model in nutrition life

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soha Salama there are many foods with prebiotic benefits because they contain polyphenol compounds which have been found in research to nourish and have a positive impact the gut microbiome. So it’s not just onions, sipping on green tea that’s rich in polyphenols or raw cacao in a recipe! They are poorly digested /absorbed and have their main benefit in the large intestine where they act as food for the microbes. Pretty cool!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soha Salama and to answer your other question about Genuine Health - they are trustworthy because they have scientists formulating their products who are doing so based on the latest research and science available on the gut microbiome. Every ingredient in their product has a function and I’ve known them for years so I feel super confident recommending them as I wouldn’t reco anything I don’t actually use myself. 👍🏻

    Hey Joy! Love your videos, so informative. I was wondering, I take a multivitamin, omega 3 tablets, minreals, probiotics at night before bed. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think I am giving my body too much work late in the day? Thank you!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds good, but a lot of those supplements should be taken with food which we shouldn't be eating too late at night. Is it possible to take some of those in the morning and at lunch with food?

    Hi Joy! How do you feel about the refrigerated Bio-K probiotic capsules of 25 billion. Are these a good option? Was previously taking HMF genestra (I think that's what they're called) but had trouble fitting them in my budget and they are hard for me to source. Is there another option you recommend for about $40 a month or less? Thanks!

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Bio-K is also a great brand as is HMF Forte. I don't know how much Bio-K is but Genuine Health is around $40-45 so that may not match your budget. I would also recommend eating fermented foods and perhaps making them yourself since you're on a budget. Hope that helps!

    but kombucha and a lot of kimchi contain sugar are they still okay to eat?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the brand of kombucha -- you can find low sugar options. Also keep in mind the sugar is adding in the fermenting stages. Good quality kombucha will be flavoured with tea not additives or sugar. Same with kimchi, I do not add sugar to my kimchi when I make it. Not sure if you have my new book Joyous Detox but I have recipes for both sauerkraut and kimchi. You can get my book on amazon.

    thankyou i appreciate however when you ask most people out there about the difference most dont really know and then when reading on the labels they sometimes just aren't suspecific enough..Dont get me wrong i love your presentations however for some of us whom are still trying to map this out to understand more clearly i found you spoke too fast and not detailed enough and i would have preferred if you had listed the foods as well in writing on the screen because you were talking too fast and then i found you spending more time promoting your products.Anyhow its constructive criticism to my own personal opinion not be be taken by any other interpretation becuase you asked viewers to leave comments so i have commented.Thankyou i am grateful.anyhow and love your videos.Love and Light🌺

      30 billion is a decent amount. I'm not familiar with that probiotic brand so I can't really speak to it's quality but usually I recommend taking a probiotic on a daily basis along with eating plenty of fruits and veggies -- they are like the soil for your probiotics so diet is just as important. Hey there! I did a blog post all about this! www.joyoushealth.com/26039-blog-supplements-for-nursing-what-i-am-taking Now I'm still nursing, so the only thing I will stop taking is my prenatal but this post I wrote will definitely give you the low down on everything I take regularly. That being said, there are certainly additional supplements I take if I'm feeling run down that I don't take on an every day basis... this is an idea for a future post. I wasn't taking the probiotic I talk about in this post at the time because it wasn't on the market yet. Any other questions, just let me know!
