  • NEW DELHI: The process of de-escalation may have begun along the LAC but India is not letting its guard down. The Indian Air Force is conducting sorties in the area both for surveillance and to let the message across that it’s ready, just in case. When it comes to the use of air power, how does India compare with China? In this episode of Simply Nitin, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief explains why India has the advantage as far as location of air bases is concerned.

@deadfrontier240 We should have not just supported but also defended Tibet. Brits were smart, they knew the importance of that buffer. But we had a highly idealistic PM then who had very little startegic thought. The long list of his blunders is widely known.
BTW he is the only PM in India's history who was in power who got himself Bharat Ratna. He was in a hurry because he probably knew how history will judge him once his dynasty lost power.

So defence st is best offense to frustate your enemy to an extent either they will attack and start war or have to be static. So Bharat can easily take POK . We have a large arsenal of laser guided bombs, and targeting pods, and experience in using them, starting from Kargil, up to Balakot, with tremendous success. The PLAAF has rarely demonstrated its precision bombing, and has never used it in actual combat. Add to this the sukhois carrying Brahmos, and the advantage for IAF is clear.

Good analytical approach... Though I feel some airbases probably left out. it will be interesting to have a analysis of Chinese ground position in Tibet and Xinxiang region also the road network...the supply line. I'm sure due high attitude the terrain would posses challenge in quick deployment and withdrawal and troops wud have to be concentrated at various locations. It would be interesting to review those aspects. Also how strong is our helicopter cover and strength?

Indian missiles are mostly indigenous. Israeli air to air missile (Derby ) is there but it is not the main weapon. We have our own air to air ASTRA. Russian R73 is there and also another Russian long range air to air. Surface to Air missiles are also mixture of imports and indigenous. Surface to Surface missiles are mostly indigenous. Israeli missiles were bought for Indian navy defense. For offense, Indian navy has Brahmos cruise missiles and other missiles

@@indianmilitary ya Astra is not inducted in big numbet and derby missile in Tejas mk1 is only 50-60 km extended range will only be inducted with Tejas mk1A

India has to launch a pre-emptive strike on all Chinese airfields simultaneously as Israel did in 1967 to Egypt. Once the PLA airforce has been eliminated their ground forces will be sitting ducks for the IAF. The PLA airforce is 90% old outdated and most pilots have no combat experience.

Although the acclimatization factor is there. I believe many PLA soldiers are from the extreme cold Northern China ( where temperature dips -20 C ) just like our own Mountain tribes. These kind of soldiers may be more naturally acclimatized to Tibetan plateau. We need to keep this in mind as well.

This is the main GOAL even though very few people see this behind the skirmish
