LAC Standoff: ‘China Testing The Waters-India’s Response, Timing, Political Will’

  • NEW DELHI: A roadmap for de-escalating the LAC standoff is in place after Indian and Chinese military commanders met on June 6, as StratNews Global reported earlier today. But what explains the confrontation that began over a month ago? The Chinese have an agenda and I don’t think the current chapter has ended, says China specialist Jayadeva Ranade. Speaking to StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale, Ranade, a former intelligence officer, said: ‘They are testing our response, they are testing the timing of our response. They are testing our military and political will’. Lt Gen. Sanjay Kulkarni (retd) who has served as Chief of Staff, 14 Corps, concurs. Even they know military confrontation is not the answer, he says ‘They’re trying to send a message to Southeast Asia, to Taiwan, to Hong Kong, even to America’.

I totally agree with mr Jayadeva ranade : Chinese won’t do anything haphazardly, if they are here , they are here with solid reasons and strategic thoughts. We need to outdo their thought process by completely focusing on their mind games and studying their actions world over. Great discussions. Always a pleasure to hear the renowned panellists

@Sachinraddy Bappasai , keep your political views and retorts to yourself, there is no need to dish out jibes on political lines without any instigation to you.
Also, Mr. Jadhav, all these three panelists might have spoken with each other in Marathi on appropriate forum or youtube channel where Marathi is the primary language of the content. StratNews Global is meant for a wider audience across India, her neighbours in/around Indian Ocean region and wider audience across the globe - so it's fine to discuss the matters in English which is perhaps commonly understood language across the mentioned audience spectrum.

Guys actually if there is ia war nobody is gonna win...this ain't plain lands of any other country...it's the Himalayas...no one would be stupid enough to move their troops deep into either of the countries land to face the full might of armours...it would be complete suicide....if the war is conventional then there would be nothing but long and strenuous fights with heavy casualties from both sides, over mere peaks...the fighting will be limited to mountain infantry supported by artillery barrage from both sides...guided missiles will be worthless in Himalayan snow with minimum visibility... choppers will likely help because of lack of visibility risking life of its own soldiers...navy will do trade blockade leaving the Chinese navy to the US...at last we will gain mere territory in Himalayas will high casualties...and yes we will gain cause our race fights better and are tough...both countries economy will be devastated and there will be armstice...
Neither the economy or the willpower will let either of the troops cross Himalayas and get slaughtered....
      Le Himalayas- hehe boi😎😎

Indian generals cannot think beyond liquor and party and self appraisal. This General saab was called here to give us a perspective and not speak about drinks and party. Even though it might be realistic there is a requirement of a greater perspective which the Indian generals r incapable of and as aptly demonstrated by lt gen Sanjay Kulkarni.

Is it true that during the Mallapuram summit last year Xi Jingping mentioned that he would ask Pakistan to give up Gilgit Baltistan to India in exchange of Azad Kashmir and on condition of India joining the OBOR via CPEC ? That shows the hold China has on Pakistan and also the extent to which Pakistan must be ready to negotiate on Kashmir issue. What are your thoughts if India accepted this proposal considering the Gilgit Baltistan is 6x size of Azad Kashmir and that would mean India would control almost 80-85 % of the Kashmir (incl Ladakh, JK, GB & AC) from 50-55% it rules today. It could also enable India to reach Afghanistan directly and then Tajikistan as well ? Also Perhaps hard negotiations could also land Aksai Chin on the table. India and China are in no position to fight a war as it would destroy both economies so perhaps this is the channel to normalize relations and also secure (relative) peace on the Western Border and let Azad Kashmir on the side for further negotiations?

India and China have a boundaries that were never jointly settled before. No marriage can occur unless a man and woman agree. Where do have that agreement between India and China?
You guys must ask that question. It is stupid to talk about strategy, arms, economy, territorial integrity when there is no integrity of territory.
Help both countries by asking them to sit and settle like everyone in the world settled their boundaries . Even China settled with everyone. And India settled with no one.

China might be taking over Gwadar or other Pak areas which we must never allow. Probably we must takeover the Shaksgam valley sooner.

For Pakistan India goes for surgical strikes, BUT for China it follows the Roadmap given by China.

Hey genius surgical strikes happened bcoz terrorists killed our ppl.... this is border issue... like any country in world... any country which has border wl have border issues... this starts with talks if it won’t work then fight... just bcoz u don’t like modi don’t think u can talk anything... it’s ok u blast govt for inside country issues... but when outside ppl come it’s our responsibility morally we shld be with govt... u can blast modi and Amit for internal issues

@@jayakishore3032 If India was strong enough China would have thought for 100 times before occupying Indian area and showing muscle to Indian army. Why India has come down to table instead of kicking the butt of China. And where is Uncle Trump whom Modi thought to be his Godfather.

SMART FOX no one cares trump... u r imagining itself god father and all... tell me one thing modi asked trump for help... and no one wants want war... everyone wants to happily sleep in jokes and bco of Covid economy is going down... so it’s time to increase economies with good strategies ... so it’s always good to go with talks unless it goes to bottom.... if war is inevitable let’s die happily... wats the big deal... even if we loose it wl be a memorable war to tell our kids dats all

SMART FOX Wherever our position is strong we show China its place, Arunachal, Sikkim, Doklam etc But Aksai Chin is a different ball game, the boundary demarcation was not done since China occupied Tibet and shifted boundary post clandestinely over a period of seventy years inch by inch to now mile by miles.

@@bvshenoy7259 China always makes strategic moves. But India makes tactical moves. This is how India lost its land. India needs a strong leadership not a Andh Bakht.
