Shout out to Ari! every place you’ve been to are very authentic and is what locals would actually buy from. This is why it’s always best to go with locals whenever we’re trying out food at a foreign country, bcs often times there are difference to “Tourist attraction” and “Local delicacies”

That manual processes are part of what actually preserves the original taste. They can't replace it, otherwise compensate the taste. I am Javanesse. I brought my 'layah-uleg2' just to make original taste of sambal to the US. Those tools cannot be replace by a metal-made tools. Taste much differs and not original sambal anymore.

Your final stop is my high School friends' favourite even until now. It has been more than 30 years ago she sells ES BUAH Gerjen or fruit ice at Gerjen (name of location). Thus you tried one of yogyakarta's legend beverages Luke!

You have to visit other islands, not just Java, Bali and Sumatra. Explore other islands, especially the eastern Indonesian island. Lots of food and diverse culture
