    I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

    100% agree the worm must have a flat bottom for the correct fall. Been fishing it only this season and yep its a winner. KVD fat baby finesse worm is a good one for H.S. The tail has a concave pocket which helps with the random fall for this technique. I've gone down to the 1/32 size nail weight, works great in 4-6 fow. Looking forward to summer pattern deep outside weed edges. It's gonna give my 1/8oz tube a run for it's money. Thanks for the vid.

    When you did the other video on this, I melted the lead off some jigs and wrapped the shank with lead wire. I was sitting on the front seat of the boat and was just screwing around with it, seeing how it looked. I thought it was cool and WHAM a 4lb largemouth zipped out and inhaled it!!
    The dock is where I do a lot of messing around with baits, trying different things, etc... Plus it gets hammered by people fishing as well. My point is, these bass see EVERYTHING LOL And they really fall for this! I am tearing them up on a different bait right now, but I always have this tied on.

    Great vid, Matt. After watching, I tried hover-shotting the other day and caught a few, but each time the nail weight would fly out of the flatworm when fighting the fish, so I ran out of nail weights. Any tips to not lose the nail weight each time you hook a fish? Thanks!

    Totally off topic question, but say you're wife buys you an early Father's Day gift - an Abu Garcia Max ZS spinner 200 size with 5.2:1 gear ratio and a 7' Medium power rod to put it on. How do you rig it up and what baits would you throw?

    • @albow4oops5
      @albow4oops5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This set up is what I fish the most.
      Uni filament braid like nanofil as your spool fill then a uni knot to a 10- 15lb fluro leader ( unless you want to fish topwater with it, them mono). Really the only techniques tou can't do effectively with it are techniques that require a heavy weight like punching. Spinning rods aren't great for flipping but it can be done.

    A weird discovery I made. I ordered Decoy Worm128 Neko hook, but find it smaller than I thought. I noticed the line tie sits 90 degree like the Ryugi Hovershot and would make a killer Texas rig Hover Strolling hook. Compared it in the tank, it seems to sit more horizontal vs a Ryugi, but I'll find out how falls, etc in the Spring.

    Is the hover shot any good in 5 to 6 feet of water? We fish a lot of ponds and small lakes with maximum depth of about 6 feet are use live scope I’m assuming it would be fairly effective if I can drop it right on and kind of work it back slow and keep it a little bit off the bottom I know it’s ideal to have it above them a little bit

I went out yesterday caught 1 decent bass & few small ones. & Came across a 10 alligator that blew her back up & was hissing at me. I slowly got outta that area she must of had a nest near by. • @DrGargani
      @DrGargani ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattStefanFishing sure, but so does anything when you put it in front of a bass's face, which live view allows you to do....fishing this technique WITHOUT that advantage, is fishing like most of us do all the time: VOLUME, with the hopes of achieving that proximity eventually......Oh, yes, we cut down the odds a bit if we are targeting obvious cover, and there are other deep structure situations that also help with normal sonar interpretation. But the key is the live view: there are already a good dozen variations of this hover fishing with the usual lure companies competing to be the "top dog", including Rapala. I will add hover strolling to my deep water arsenal, because where I fish, bass are in deeper water for a good part of the season.

    This is a very basic walleye fishing technique. The reason why you don't hear about it is because it is not making the sponsors money. Somebody changed the name to and a slight variant of a bango minnow. The fall might not matter most days. But there will be a day only that works. This guy is a pro. He better be able to do that with a half dozen different lures in those conditions. Sorry for the rant. I get tired of hearing the term elite in fishing circles.
