In the early 80's we used Rapala Ice Jigs while Spooning in the winter time....The Spiral effect,, In the summertime, we used Reepers with a #1 Mustad Jig hook...,,Drywall screw as the weight....Socal Fishing!.
Do you still use this technique? Having a hard time finding the hooks, and VMC number doesn't match their new numbers? Heavy duty wire or lite wire? Thanks,
no one explains it as thoroughly as he does, plus he talks loud, enunciates perfectly.....very easy for me to understand him ( I am hearing impaired).....
This is like the spine rig you did a while back, ill have to re watch that video now. Haven't tried this but I think it would work on my Nova Scotia smallies pretty good
You said the bait spirals on the fall. Can you add a small swivel up the line to prevent line twist? I am going to try this method for suspended fish and around a bridge in a lake I fish.
We have been fishing like this for a few years down here in South Texas not the hover strolling with a soft minnow but letting a lot of line out behind the boat with toobs ,dropshot, jigs and TX rig . Works great when the bite is slow . My buds call it dragging are long lining . It’s not my favorite way to fish but it does work and well sometimes . I personally changed the name from dragging and call it Hobo rigging because every time my buds do it they sit down in the seat have there pole in one hand sitting on there shoulder pointing behind them and a beer in the other hand . Just stirring around bumming a ride sipping on cold beer and catching fish aka hoboing and my motto is if you can’t beat them join them lol Thanks for the info can’t wait to try it
Dude, you're so psyched!!! I love it... You get me psyched, and I'm a salmon steelhead fisherman...lol. but you very your ass I'm going to rig some of my plastics with your tips for them. Nice job. Love your enthusiasm.
I appreciate this content, very educational. Really liked the way and how you explained this. You got me hooked on trying this technique and you got another subscriber. I am ready to learn. Glad TH-cam suggested your video.
Great info. Thanks. Could not find the VMC hooks recommended with the model number you gave. Can you please post in the notes? Closest I could come to was VMC model # 7247.
I can’t wait to try this and I’ll let you know how I do. Thanks Ike ! I’m heading out Monday and Tuesday with the right hooks and lures to give this a shot.
Killer rigging tip vid. I’m definitely going to give this a shot. Think I’ll do the Berkeley max scent so they won’t drop it quick give me a better shot at catching them. Thanks for the tips!
Awesome video it isn’t super easy always too catch bass when it is hot but you sure know where too find them my favourite summer bait is a black Texas rigged senko and pumpkin seed tubes!
How is my FAVORITE FISHERMAN doing? I'm in the process of moving from Chicago to Orlando area. While I was packing I found your book. Reading it again. Thanks for teaching me so much about fishing, once again. Never give it . Thanks buddy!
Light line stuff in general is the best for pressure! #2 cultiva twistlock finess with a 3 inch keitech shad impact in the weeds will drag any shady character out of their hole
Hey Mike I love the technique but I live in Maryland and we have alot of grass and foliage and snaggs in our waters. What type of weedless hooks can I use with this lure?
I tried this with a 3.5 inch craw bait this morning fishing 4 to 6 foot of flats. I also threw it on humps in deeper water. I got bit on the fall or as soon as it hit the bottom. This thing gets aggressive bites.
The hook rigging is true to the original hover strolling but the weight and action is not correct. Hover strolling originally is meant to shake and roll the lure in place in the water column. Right around 5 to 10 meters away from you. Hence the hover part. Real hover strolling doesn’t rely on the fall but more the hovering in place aspect of the lure appealing to highly pressured predator fish.
Humm ! I'm a BIG FAN of you Ike, but I can't find any difference between this "hover strolling" and the "spine rig" you did 4 years ago... Maybe you are a little bit older ;p Is there a "difference" ?
OMG...that's awesome...love it! Will have to try this coming summer. My lake is so pressured, you almost can't get them to bite. I guess this one might do the trick. I have two question though: When you cast it out and just hold it with occasional twitches, doesn't the bait just slowly sink below the level of the fish? Second question what size nail weight would you use when the fish are in 30feet of water? Again thanks for this rigging tip.
I learned a new technique and a new word!!! “Atomically correct”
Could almost say this is the bomb.
It’s nuclear B! 💣🧨
Almost as good as “loud and ambidextrous” lmao!!!!
LOL .. nice catch Brian .. too funny!
I like you videos best. I can’t stand the way he screams when he catches a fish. You would think that he would, someday, grow up

The flat nose minnow is really awesome because the nose isn’t thin. It accepts a hook well and even a weight.
Nice! Coretackle just came out with an all on 1 weighted hook for this technique. And they're excellent. Thanks for sharing mike
I got some of those two, I bought a bag of each of the two sizes
Thanks for sharing!! Love watching your energy explode!!!😊🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Mike sharing this technique from Japan.
Thanks for all the info could you bank fish that presentation
Do you still use this technique? Having a hard time finding the hooks, and VMC number doesn't match their new numbers? Heavy duty wire or lite wire?
Thanks,
Gotta love riggin tips by Ike.. I’m always adding his tips and techniques to my arsenal

Is this the spine rig?

Have used those hooks for years with small minnows fishing for crappies! Great tip adding the nail weight. Thx!

Mike you need to talk to Brian the carpenter about measurements LOL
Trying it on big brown trout clothes of bass patterns work on huge browns
On spinning reel techniques, do you always reel set on the hook up?
Always dig a new way to fish
Mike learns a new word.
Great info. Thanks.
Could not find the VMC hooks recommended with the model number you gave. Can you please post in the notes?
Closest I could come to was VMC model # 7247.
Interesting technique I will put it to the test on my fishing trip in the morning
Can't find any vmc hooks like this.
I can’t wait to try this and I’ll let you know how I do. Thanks Ike ! I’m heading out Monday and Tuesday with the right hooks and lures to give this a shot.

I'm leaving alot and been a fan of Mike since 2005 but these videos are reminding me of QVC or those laste night selling shows lmao
I'm a little late but loved the video content. I will have to try this. Thanks Mike!
You are truly a brilliant fisherman.
Very thought provoking, thank you
I have a feeling this will do great in lake Lanier
With the gliding around, is there a problem with line twist?
Gonna try this. Being a Jersey guy, all the spots get HAMMERED here at all the local haunts. The skunk is real lol.
Hey Mike Iaconelli do you remember the autographed Toyota hat that you gave me
Awesome video it isn’t super easy always too catch bass when it is hot but you sure know where too find them my favourite summer bait is a black Texas rigged senko and pumpkin seed tubes!
This technique is awesome.... Thanks for sharing!!
Love that technique👌
Pure Gold Ike! Hold onto your butts with this 1
I'm ready to give this technique a shot on Palantine!
Son of a gun, this is brilliant. I’ve caught 95% of my smallmouths in BFL on flat nose minnow. It has really good action nose hooked drop shotting.
Ben Millikin has already done this! Hover Juggle.
How is my FAVORITE FISHERMAN doing? I'm in the process of moving from Chicago to Orlando area. While I was packing I found your book. Reading it again. Thanks for teaching me so much about fishing, once again. Never give it . Thanks buddy!
Lol he said right IN THE FACE . I love your videos
Look at this! Man we need a close up. Put a picture of it or get to closer to the camera with it for a second
This is a great technique. I snap these in the fall.
How many tournament folks are snagging bass with lives scope.
Great tip Ike!!! Love your in the shop video!
Very similar to a really popular flat water fly pattern called the balance leech that a lot of fly fishermen use in lakes.
This catches Walleye too!
Help ... Did I miss the brand and size of the hook used?
Great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Light line stuff in general is the best for pressure! #2 cultiva twistlock finess with a 3 inch keitech shad impact in the weeds will drag any shady character out of their hole
Gulp minnows are a hidden gem. Those sons of guns work big time... No one uses them. But they absolutely catch fish.
Im definitely gonna give this one a shot!
Ike need more bank tips.
very nice!!! ill try it for sure :D
Ike, meet me at Raystown lake in Pennsylvania and let's try this technique. 👍😎
Hey Mike I love the technique but I live in Maryland and we have alot of grass and foliage and snaggs in our waters. What type of weedless hooks can I use with this lure?
Decoy Worm 153FF Hover Shot Hook. Not at a 90 angle but 60 and is weedless.
What about listing the hook.
Ike come fishing here at Texoma I'd love to fish with you!
Keep dreaming simp

I always love your new ideas I am all about the stupid tube 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I tried this with a 3.5 inch craw bait this morning fishing 4 to 6 foot of flats. I also threw it on humps in deeper water. I got bit on the fall or as soon as it hit the bottom. This thing gets aggressive bites.
can not find those VMC hooks
Damiki rig?
I would think a horizontal tail is to make it seem more like an injured minnow
Why are you not fishing MLF?
Thanks
This tip has been around for almost 2 years now lol not a secret anymore lol 😅
Mike, this method looks like a tube rig.

Basically a fresh water Terroreyz from D.O.A
Look Like a Killer Rig to Me !
It really is!!
For some reason the hook keeps sliding out after a few casts.
Boop... Just the tip.. Boop.. YOUR NOT GONNA BELIEVE IT.... BOOP
similar to Tube fishing
Humm ! I'm a BIG FAN of you Ike, but I can't find any difference between this "hover strolling" and the "spine rig" you did 4 years ago... Maybe you are a little bit older ;p Is there a "difference" ?
VMC does not have these hooks. Great Vid though.
OMG...that's awesome...love it! Will have to try this coming summer. My lake is so pressured, you almost can't get them to bite. I guess this one might do the trick. Quit yelling at me!
Great video but stop yelling at me! I’m sorry for whatever I did to make you mad lol
aNatomically ...... Root word "ANATOMY". I got hung up on that word then missed the rest.
Enjoy your tips but man these videos could be so much shorter. Start to lose me after a while.. Thanks for the info though!
Whales and dolphins have horizontal tails... I wanna catch a bass that eats whales!
This guy sounds like he's talking to 4 year olds.
I’m not hard of hearing.
If you want to sell me something, quit yelling at me. Lower your voice.
Mike, please remove this video! I do not want any of my club members to see this!! LOL
