    Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud, sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
    Sing of happy not sad
    Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
    For anyone else to hear
    Just sing, sing a song

It's funny coz this was the thinking of David Byrne of the " Talking Heads." When they said: not good enough. He said: I don't care. I'll keep doing it coz it's enjoyable to me .

@@JD-yq3dd I did this routine by Dr. Mandel and also Wim Hof breathing exercises and the copd test came out as extra normal. I didn't know there was such a diagnosis. I was always wanting to know the difference between anxiety and heart condition and breathing conditions. Always the anxiety was just ignored. The breathing exercises helped me with the anxiety and that is what I needed and didn't know. None of the doctors addressed this issue. Stress is always going to be around knowing how to handle it is so beneficial. I always feel like my prayers are answered when these videos show up for me. I am wishing you all the best JD.

Awe, blessings! Been out of work singing/performing pop/jazz/rock for the majority of 2 months now due to respiratory issues. I know how to breathe from the diaphragm being classically trained. Ended up having to go on inhaler recently, however to properly do my breath exercises. I’m doing his (Dr. M’s) phlegm concoction too. My dad had the alpha gene that makes the type of copd non-smokers have more likely and used a nebulizer. I’m getting tested for that gene. The first two exercises in this video were fine but the last two hurt my teeth and were uncomfortable. We are taught in classical voice to try to not cough if possible bc it’s bad for the vocal chords, so, I’m not sure I agree with the last exercise. I’ve done some professional voice over work too and am a part - time vocal coach. ❤

@ONTHEFLOW unfortunately I was not vaccinated and am currently not vaccinated only because I now have to wait 90 days to be vaccinated which I will be getting vaccinated then . My only reason for not being vaccinated in the first place is because a year ago I had a very serious adverse reaction to a Flouroquinolone Antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin that literally devastated my health for months . This is why I grew a temporary fear over almost any Pharmecuticals . It took me over a year to start to regain my trust back into the medical field which I'm glad I did despite what happened. So grateful I found this video. Diagnosed with hyperaerated lungs after having a flu January of 2024. My most recent x-ray still shows that my both lungs are still hyperaerated. I went through lung function test and came back normal. I can breath normally, I can even walk 3 miles and climb up 14 floor building. I was not placed on any medication except Levokast taken only if I find myself having difficulty breathing. My recent consultation with the pulmo, advised me to do a breathing exercise. I watch and followed a few. But, this video is far awesome than the others. I just want to clear the trapped air in my lungs and have it back to normal as before. Virus infection is very scary and we must take care of ourselves, wear masks when going out and even in the office setting. Thank you again for this video. I will do this everyday for the next two - three months and see if my lungs are cleared as per my doctor, CT-Scan can be perform if I am worried and want to make sure the overall health of my lungs. But, he assure me that there is nothing to worry about. Two doctors gave me a clearance to continue working. Thanks God!

These are exercises that every nurse & doctor should teach all their respiratory patients. From the comments I don't believe they have or the patients didn't listen to begin with. If you have COPD then you should have gotten an incentive spirometer to help you with your breathing exercises. Even people who aren't respiratory patients will get one prior to surgery, especially if they are sedentary life styles. These are really good exercises to do. Hopefully you'll keep up the good work after you get started !! It definitely MAKES A DIFFERENCE 💝💝💝💝💝

Not one single exercise or breathing method has ever been mentioned to me by any Doctor. No mention of diet, nothing but medication.I just ordered a airphysio device. We'll see how that goes. Its got great reviews and simulates lung exercises. Humming is good for loosening mucus. One thing this device does is simulate humming as the air vibrates as you breathe in thru this device. Let everyone know how it works soon , I hope. You're also breathing out thru pursed lips, another good technique.if anyone here has got this device already please let us know how you have found it.Another brand of this device is called airfit.

Few tips for people new to diagnoses with copd (I was diagnosed a few weeks ago I got 40% oxygen left last tests) .. iv been getting bad panic attacks due to my copd. I'm left with a panic disorder that ruined my life for a couple weeks until I found a few tips and now iv gone from having 3 or 4 attacks a day and being suicidal to just 3 or 4 times a week. It's a start! Ok.. we all seem to breath from our chest like this doc says.. all these excercises are brilliant! .. few extra tips for serious people wanting more oxygen.. if your struggling to breath and you want to try reset you diaphragm then sit on the floor and hug your knees for a minute or two. Also breathing while sat hugging your knees really helps.. you seem to use your diaphragm more than your chest and it resets it. Normal sit up help strengthen your diaphragm.. I use a 2kg weight amd I do side raises and front raises while breathing. It helps strengthen your diaphragm, chest and muscles surrounding. I also lay flat on the floor and place my 2kg weight right ontop of my diaphragm (you could use heavy book) amd then breath in threw your nose feel the weight go up amd down as you breath. Try breath from low down in your diaphragm amd not your chest.. if you place a hand on your chest while laid flat you can try feel that your keeping it still. Basically any deep breath in threw your nose and out threw your mouth with one hand on your chest the other on your diaphragm will help you feel from the spot your breathing from. Also deep breaths using your diaphragm and hold it aslong as you can. Just work your lungs and diaphragm. Iv been working them every day for 2 weeks now. I'll admit I went a bit hard at first and had pains from sit ups 😂 ... but within 3 days I can feel my breathing coming from deep down amd not high in my chest. For me it's important because your fight or flight nerves are high up.in your chest amd your calming nerves are low down in your diaphragm. Anyway iv said loads bit when I first got diagnosed this is the type of info I wish I had in one place. Work your stomach lungs everything. Even holding your breath is working and stretching them. Ontop of that excercise as much as u can. I have another chest xray on 16 march amd I'm guessing damage will be same but when I do a oxygen test I'm confident I can improve. Work towards improving amd stretching everything. Breathing from deep really does seem to be the key. All the best people.

I totally love you, Dr Mandell! Thank you! This will help me hugely! I had a stroke, subdural hematoma and pneumonia fairly close together! I was a smoker but quit 11/1/11, so I had bad COPD! Knowing this is wonderful!

Thanks Dr. Mandel, I was on a drug for cancer called fulvesrrant which is an estrogen blocker. This drug has as s side effect shortness of breath . I am no longer taking it , but have had a hard time breathing for months . Coughing and not being able to take deep breaths . I will try this . I was doing these exercises along with you during the video and I already feel some relief . Thank you for all you are doing to help people live healthier lives 💗
