    Around 1:06 you pass by a very interesting trivia point of this story. The writer who wrote the screenplay that Silver and the studio went with (Peter Lenkov) was only in his 20s at the time, and that success of writing Demolition Man was a career springboard and key step in eventually becoming the showrunner for a number of TV action shows- most notably the current incarnations of Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I. and Macgyver. Which shouldn't be surprising... if you watch the early seasons of Five-0, it frequently celebrates gratuitous 80s style action in a kinda similar fashion as Demo Man.

    This movie was a masterpiece... When it came out, it was a great action, futuristic comedy. Now it was a future-telling movie, predicting our current technology, and the falling of our society. That makes it an even greater movie, because it could be made today, and would still hold up... Also... Sandra Bullock... OH YES!

    I liked Edgar Friendly's libertarian speech. It feels like action movies were starting to become a parody of themselves in the later 80's and early 90's with some exceptions, so that's why I didn't really notice the parody. But what really stuck to me was the mocking of PC culture.

    • @d.aardent9382

      Funny thing is i always felt most of Segal's movies seemed like parodies of action movies as they had a odd exaggerated , hammy vibe about them and the hero character would always beat all the badguys even with all the circumstances stacked against him.

    Great work as always Cecil! I love Demolition Man, it's one of my favorite Stallone films and Simon Phoenix is one of my favorite villains of all time. Honestly, movie is all the way awesome but Snipes is the best thing about it. It's damn true, the satire of the movie is more effective today than it was back in '93. Too bad about Warner Bros interfering in the post production as usual, but hey at least movie wasn't butchered like Cobra or Tango & Cash. Would love to see deleted scenes from the film, i read the original script and it really did felt like much more completed story than the one in the final cut. Funny how almost at the same day that Oliver Harper uploaded his commentary for the film you uploaded this exploring video.
    Btw Cecil, not to be annoying or anything so i apologize in advance, but there are couple of things i was curious to ask you, and of course you don't have to answer if you don't want to. First, what do you think about Joy Ride (2001) and if you did see it which ending of the film do you prefer, original or theatrical one? Second, i recently uploaded some new stuff on my channel, including several rejected movie scores, so if you're curious to hear them, be my guest.

    "R" rating aside I'm shocked that Taco Bell was the only fast food chain that wanted to jump on that. I just figured they were chosen because it was a funnier and less obvious choice.

    • @LibraGamesUnlimited
      @LibraGamesUnlimited 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A lot of brands, even now, don't like being involved with R rated movies. When the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" was made, I remember them saying they apprached a lot companies about populating the fictional mall and no one wanted to do it, which is why all the stores are made up.

      Taco Bell might be the "chosen" franchise in America and a most other countries, but in select countries they replaced TB with Pizza Hut. Ive seen clips of the Pizza Hut scenes used on conspiracy channels as a case of "The Mandela Effect".

      That is kind of why I dismiss nintey percent of such stories. I'm sure most of them are people either intentionally or accidently spreading such misinformaiton and the rest are probably just poor memory and group suggestion.
      One person remembers something one way, then gets to talking and someone else, subconsiously, convinces themselves they remember it that way and it takes off from there.

      @@Thezuule1 No, the "using two seashells as chopsticks to remove anything hanging and then using the third to scrape away what's left" story is actually true. Sylvester Stallone himself said that that's how they were supposed to work. Here's part of the article I found on Google: How they work was once revealed by Stallone in a 2006 interview, explaining that a writer told him '...you hold two seashells like chopsticks, pull gently and scrape what’s left with the third.'
