    When I worked at a video store in the late 1980s, you couldn't keep this VHS tape in the store. Stoners loved to rent it on weekends all the time.

      It still isn't available on any streaming service, with the exception of some lousy TH-cam upload which has piss poor quality. Looks like I'll have to cave and get the Blu-ray. :P

    I love those old practical special effects. The CGI that we now have tends to make movies all look the same. During the 80's movie monsters had a distinctive look and personality.

    • @BennyLlama39
      @BennyLlama39 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not only that, but half a movie's budget goes to a bunch of tech-nerds who don't put in any real effort. The *physical* effects guys, though...

    • @sexycavetroll2788
      @sexycavetroll2788 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Right on. Plus computers just can't make things actually look like they are in the same space with the actors.

    • @L1701
      @L1701 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      It's easy to say that CGI is inherently bad. It's merely a tool. If the CGI is bad, that's the fault of the craftsman, not the tool. Nobody blames the hammer and nails when a carpenter builds a shoddy shelf.

    • @BennyLlama39
      @BennyLlama39 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@L1701 I agree; it's not inherently bad. I just meant they rely too much on CG, and sometimes it's cheaper and faster to actually build the props. 🙂

    • @sexycavetroll2788
      @sexycavetroll2788 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@BennyLlama39 yeah it's foolish to say all cgi is bad but I would say a large chunk is. Just look at Jurassic world vs park. The Dino's in park had more of a presence because the actors could actually see em 99% of the time. Plus making cgi look natural as far as lighting and all that is super hard. I draw and know how much lighting can make or break something so I can't imagine how hard it is on a moving 3d imagine

    Terrorvision is probably the most underrated film of the 1980’s. I discovered it in a used video store in the 90’s. I hated it on the first watch, and I only have it now because I decided to give it a second watch months later. I was sure I was going to throw that VHS in the trash but it ended up becoming one of my favorite movies from the 80’s.

    This is one of my all-time favorite movies growing up as a kid. It aired on TV and I recorded it and had the VHS for years then had to get a bootleg copy of the Japanese Laserdisc on DVDr until the recent Blu-Ray release. It's so cool that Diane Franklin shared this video on her Social Media accounts. Great video.

    I remember seeing this film as a kid and it scared the hell out of me. Mostly the ending where everyone died. At the time, I was not used to downbeat endings. I didn't know what it was called, but it stuck with me for years until I rediscovered it.
    I had the honor of meeting Buechler at Mad Monster Party in Charlotte. He and Kane Hodder signed my VHS copy of "Project: Metalbeast".

    I remember seeing this back in 1989 or so on an L.A. station here in So Cal. KCOP 13. They used to show some really fucked up stuff in the middle of the weekend afternoons. Saw this, Re-Animator and From Beyond. Man I miss those slot machine days of TV in a way. You never knew what you'd encounter and be exposed to on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

    This was my best friend's favorite flick. As kids, we used to quote from it on a regular basis.... "Can't even get a Heiney for the road"... "This dude's into metal!"... "Roman guy, Roman all the way!... "Come on, come on, come on!" "Spiro Zerost is the MANLIEST of men...I LIKE BOYS!"
    I have to admit I was surprised you didn't mention the obvious sponsorship of Heineken beer in this movie as every character holds one up with the label clearly visible, including Medusa, and the Putterman's bar was stocked with nothing but Heinies...
    A great and hilarious dark comedy, I'm reminded of my best friend every time I see anything connected to it and miss him incredibly, he died three years ago last May at the very early age of 50...

    Wow, when a ten year old me saw this on an indie station about 1988 it was practically brand new, but seemed like it was much older. For some reason the grandfather's gun collection fascinated me. I got a toy m16 and reenacted the fights with the alien.

    Saw this in theater with my dad when I was a kid. I thought it was too stupid but it always resinated with me. Watched it recently and I loved it.
