    The structure of the show really is what keeps me interested. Establishing what he enjoys and wants out of the food and that’s how he decides what’s best for HIM. Makes the show a lot more personal instead of a face just talking about how good the food is. It’s like following the host on his journey to pick his favorite places that serve his favorite food.

      It's also very direct, to the point, and also fun. I may disagree with him in terms of what I prefer, but he makes it very clear what he is looking for so even if I disagree with him I certainly respect it.

      My friends, we dont go to el primo (which you are correct in guessing) for breakfast tacos. Its all about the meat. That being said, el primo is still not the best albeit very good, however it gained lots of notoriety from Bourdain's No Reservations. They have plenty of experience with shows asking them to be featured and I am sure they ahve their own reasons for not being cool with it all the time.

      In addition to the mystery joint there was one place that didn't even get into the video; likely because they wouldn't allow it; I wonder what place that was? I'm guessing Torchy's? Otherwise, I'm not sure how he would have overlooked Torchy's.

    You know how Americans giggle at people with "silly" accents? As a Spaniard I thoroughly enjoy Americans making up how stuff in spanish is pronounced without a moment of hesitation. The confidence is commendable.

    • @jonathonross4447
      @jonathonross4447 6 ปีที่แล้ว +88

      Sometimes in the US it is considered pretentious to dote too thoroughly on foreign words. Considering how much of English is borrowed from other languages and how many cuisines and cultures are represented in the US, it can be difficult to know what to casually anglify and what to give your best effort. My favorite example is hors d’oeuvres. We have borrowed this term from French, which we pronounce “or-dervs”, when the real pronunciation is “or-duvruh” (including vowel sounds that don’t exist in English). It would seem very out of the ordinary to pronounce it in proper French when speaking with other Americans.

    • @Kokorisu
      @Kokorisu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Jonathon Ross I get it, that's the case pretty much here in Spain. People pronounce English words badly enough to sound like they're hardly trying, but still have that touch. Ah, culture, I love you so.

    • @WimpyMcWeaksauce
      @WimpyMcWeaksauce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @Jonathon Ross
      Another example: pronouncing "croissant" correctly is a meme now. It's so out of a place saying croissant right, that Americans will laugh at you. Or really anything French. At least Spanish words won't usually get you any funny looks. Actually, mispronouncing simple things like "tortilla" is likely to elicit a chuckle in most of the US.

    When I lived in Austin in the 90's there was a place in the industrial part of town, by the old airport, it was a warehouse, not a restaurant or food establishment, and somehow they made the best, BEST, breakfast burritos/tacos there!!! People would wait and line up in the parking lot to get their food, you couldn't even go inside this questionable place, but oh baby the amazing food! It was kind of a taco speakeasy.

    As an Austin born and raised. Bill Millers tacos will always be #1...A Texan classic is a smoked brisket and egg taco add potatoes on it if you are really hungry and, an ice tea to drink. Bill millers is famous for their tea. You can buy it by the bucket. Literally they sell a plastic bucket gallon of tea lol. They have a few locations in Austin and San Antonio. But they are such a big part of those cities. I grew up on their food. It’s a place worth stopping at. It’s like southern, Tex-mex and BBQ really the trifecta of Texas food and culture 😊
