Chinese OEM 2, 3 or 4 wheel electric scooters are legal to drive on bike lanes in the Philippines. As long as they are speed limited to 25km/hr. You don’t even a drivers license and registration.
Why not carbon fibre options for those who can afford it? I'm all for diversity, even within the same product. I can get about five different types of cans of baked beans.
Carbon fiber is not viable for the directional torque electric motors will put on them. Carbon fiber has good strength in one direction and bad in another direction. You can pull it in the direction of its fibers just fine. Put force perpendicular to the fibers and it's brittle.
The reason why you don't see things "in-between" a cargo bike/trike, and full-blown cars... is that they're basically illegal to operate. A 4-wheeled vehicle that isn't a literal mobility scooter is not allowed on Canadian roads or bike paths. A vehicle that goes above 25 (or 32) km/h is forbidden on public roads. If you want to create any 4-wheeled vehicle that isn't a mobility scooter (what we call LSVs, Low Speed Vehicles) you need to get it approved, inspected, plated and insured *as a car* which implies requirements like ABS brakes, assisted steering, traction control, seatbelts, and everything else a car legally requires. There is no inbetween because Transport Canada's rules and regulations simply do not allow us to own and operate them. If they *did* allow for them, I'd just buy a Chang Li off aliexpress for $900 (+ shipping, taxes, import fees around $3000 in total) and ride that around like a glorified enclosed golf cart. I love seeing new vehicles, weird and quirky things that look great and would be lovely to use... but you just *cannot* and that's the issue that needs to be addressed before we can move on to better micromobility and personal mobility devices.

The problem with carbon fibre is that it is currently made from oil based polymers. I am concernd that carbon fibres have the same impact as GRP fibres on the marine environment. I think there is a role for carbon fibre as carbon '100'' which conducts electricity better than copper (rated at '80') is in future electric motor windings. The carbon needs to be grown as a crystal from carbon dioxide but this technology doesn't yet exist. Using Aluminium utilises a one seventh of the Earths's resourses so makes more sense. London taxis are already made like this.

If they don't want to spend hours, days or weeks looking through 1000s of dodgy sellers on ebay and Chinese web sites, and researching reputations, video reviews, unboxings etc, then that is their choice. I got my 2kW kit 8 years ago for £400 and made the batteries myself, and it still runs perfectly. Never been happier, though another kW or two would be nice.

I think the VeeMo is an interesting development and consistent with other products out there doing similar things. Ok for playing in the park on a Summers afternoon. Try a UK cold, wet Monday morning Autumn commute, with lots of traffic. Sorry, a big metal box wins. That's why zero people buy the Twizy. Fun concept, not fun reality. (Guessing the company owner drives the Rivian? 😉)
Great Elecrict cycle with all year covers. Problem with individual owned solution is they need to be parked but maybe only use 1 hr per day. A provision to rent en masse at lots of different location allows users to leave the bike for others to use. If we had proper clean Public Transport or Robo Taxis (Or human driven EV) at affordable costs then no need for individual platforms and storage when largely not in use!!
Basically its a pimped up mobility scooter. It might suit someone doing short journeys to the shops but for city use where would you park it without blocking the pavements or the local vandals stealing it of wrecking it.
That was a good commercial for one company's somewhat expensive products. £900 just to convert an old pedal bike to an electric bike! I want a new electric bike for that. I'll be lucky to find one but still, £900 for a conversion.
@@far-course38 The problem is not with the idea; it's with the laws. Changing the laws by dropping them is the best solution, but our greedy and very stupid politicians will never do that. Nothing under 40 kph and 100 kgs should need a license or registration.
I was so disappointed when Veemo redesigned their velomobile from being fully enclosed to being open. Fully enclosed small electric vehicles are so attractive to me living in the pacific northwest. That being said, this company is doing some very interesting things.
@1wuzgray325 I too fell in love with the fully enclosed Veemo. To me, it would be the closest thing to driving an actual car without the expensive maintenance or needing to insure it and no required driver's license. But that model was being used in a pilot vehicle sharing program in selected areas. I actually emailed the company and asked if they will ever offer it to individuals who wish to purchase one for themselves as private owners. The answer I got back was that they were considering it. But alas, we got this semi open model instead. Bummer.
If they weren’t so expensive, I’d buy one. I enjoy my eBike, but I’d LOVE to have a trike or a 4 wheel covered eBike, but the makers want to charge too much money for them
If your promoting a company, why not put a link to the company website below your video. Even a Google search puts some people off enough not too look into it. Every little bit to make looking into something reduces follow through.
A truly awful creation, the Danish U36 that became the MiniEl was a far better machine, 30miles, at 30miles per hour, no peddling and full weather enclosure, it was designed as a moped or scooter replacement and could carry an adult and two young children, unfortunately the c5 killed anything electric in Britain for a generation. I worked with the industrial designer Ray Innes on it as my first project with him in 1982, Stein Jensen approached Ray Innes to do the body and other design work while he concentrated on the mechanical and electrical side, the completed U36 was first exhibited in a Danish bank in Randers, where the first factory for them was built, I believe they are still made in Germany.
I tried to imagine taking two children to school in something like that.... Trembling and horror. And even in the snow in Canada :). The desire for ecology should not turn into idiocy.
We are pretty nearly doomed to be stuck inside some kind of heavy tank when travelling or else be struck by one if we dare to travel on the road by any other means. I was watching a surgeon on 24 hrs in A&E who was tying to cope with the flood of cyclists coming in who had been mangled by London traffic . She said she would advise no one to cycle in London.
Then perhaps London should improve the cycling paths. Cycling and micro-mobility are increasing in all developed countries (aside from the US), that's not going to stop.
It’s actually surprising the routes you can find in London to avoid cycling with the traffic. Go through parks, along the canal, a dedicated cycle lane, shared pedestrian areas…
Man never saw a atv or sidebyside? 😂 also companies talking about "designing" when its clearly a bunch of parts from AliExpress with a sticker. Yes, using the same battery. Controller. Motor. If I had me electric e-bikes it will be a stepter and it will be easy on my knees and legs right now I don't have the money to get one that's another story another time but this is a good video and I did like that one ebike where you carry just about anything you want on it even the passenger right now keep up the good work
Good luck at the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing and the Lions Gate Bridge during peak hours when it's windy.
I don't want to have a crash in those. Instant death.
Very very interesting
How much it costs for me i live in Kyrgyzstan Bishkek
I'm thinking of starting an electric-something brand just to be interviewed by Imogen ❤
..and I'd surely get Robert
How are electric mobility scooters allowed in the U.K. but these aren’t?
You guys make the best videos that I always look forward to. You make me want to build my own car like that
What a fascinating PEV. With those power specs, thank you. You make the best videos that I always look forward to. 💪🏼👏🏼
There are fully enclosed, heated, micro EVs. Just because one product doesn’t suit you, doesn’t mean there are others that won’t.
@@oliverpolden It's a UK channel. It's a trinket for a handful of people. No one would seriously use it on UK roads. They value their lives.
@@TeaBreak. I live in the UK. Just because you wouldn’t use one, doesn’t mean others wouldn’t. I certainly would.
When that big mertal box hits you, you may wish you had been in one - just before you shut your eyes forever!
we need that in Manila
Everything electric ready to make my idea 💡
Watched at .75 playback to restore compression...
Very moving experience with this video ,
Badum, tssss!
@@zapfanzapfan have no idea what that means, is it some sort of slang?
@@KavanOBrien It's a phonetic representation of a rimshot.
@@KavanOBrien Obscurai got it right.
@@Obscurai rimshot ? One does tend to think I’ve been living on a different planet.
Basically its a pimped up mobility scooter. It might suit someone doing short journeys to the shops but for city use where would you park it without blocking the pavements or the local vandals stealing it of wrecking it.
Some very strange and unusual products.....❤❤ Imogen not always looking very comfortable with those😂😂
That was a good commercial for one company's somewhat expensive products. £900 just to convert an old pedal bike to an electric bike! I want a new electric bike for that. I'll be lucky to find one but still, £900 for a conversion.
I would have loved if the Veemo had a 3-5kW motor paired with a 2-2,5kWh battery.
3-5kW motor would make it non-street legal, hence wount be able to use bike lanes, would require registration and insurance
@@far-course38 The problem is not with the idea; it's with the laws. Changing the laws by dropping them is the best solution, but our greedy and very stupid politicians will never do that. Nothing under 40 kph and 100 kgs should need a license or registration.
"Gangster Granny" 😆
Is this company private or public, selling shares?
oh god i want all those cool mini transpo if only i have the money to but them T v T
Wow ❤
Bummer.
I bought my car (2017 Nissan Rogue) for less than that 4-wheeler. 😕
The current govenment can't decide what to do with e Scooters here, so no chance of any of these making it over here.
I'd like it fully enclosed with a decent internal combustion engine
You're in the wrong movie. ICE are on their way out....get used to it.
How about micro cars on rails. Won't need to steer. Much lighter than current trams. Probably 80% of power could come from solar in sunny areas.
Sinclair C5 was ahead of its time for building deathtraps. 😂
Most of these bikes can be found from Chinese suppliers.. except the Veemo
Letting you know in the comment below.
Man never saw a atv or sidebyside? 😂 also companies talking about "designing" when its clearly a bunch of parts from AliExpress with a sticker. Yes, using the same battery. Controller. Motor. Has been the hallmark of ebikes brands for decades. Its actually how everything works. The only "designed" part is the frame. Even there I am doubtfull. Probably from a catalog.
