Since the foreskin contains a high number of Langerhans’ cells it can be easily stretched and manipulated since they actually grow longer with stretching exercises. It’s time consuming but much more convenient than surgery.
@reubenelite should help, otherwise may have to manually stretch the foreskin gently as is stretching the tight end of a balloon. I hope that makes sense.
I could retract mine around 9 -10? Can't exactly remember now, but it was before puberty. Well anything you couldn't notice. I just discovered I could. It was stinky, but sorted that out! Never knew that you never use soap as soap is quite alkaline and the underneath Is mucosal skin and that is why. Always pee retracted as urine is acidic and especially when your an older man and skin generally becomes susceptible with age, as the acid damages your skin. -Of the fine blood vessels and nerves too. 😟 Use vaseline on your knob and foreskin- still on your knob if circumcised, because as you do get older- well anyone can leak urine some and this is a good protector to prevent skin irritation and therefore yeast infection. 😮😊😁
Vaseline does make a barrier, but then prevents the skin from breathing, I'd suggest a good moisturizer. Either way, thank you for sharing what you do. Take care
@@DrBretPalmer A dermatologist said for me to use it. It actually dries after a while and you can't even feel it on. Sparingly applied. I used to use a lanolin cream and when needed, an anti fungal cream. I don't require those things now at all. He said don't use the lanolin based cream. I have type II diabetes, that is pretty much in control, but I think this was why I was getting what looked like a little fungus thing showing as redness and some tenderness. As you know, the body's normally fully automatic and precise with it, but when one has to intervene in once was so and manually do it in degrees of and that the drugs taken have a time duration component to them- a time in your system; it's harder to keep sugar levels tight? Exercise included and any lows. An excess in blood sugar at times can let bugs feed? and so subtle issues then arise? Plus any may happen urine dribbles/ leaks. Age basically.
@Mcfreddo I agree to stay away from any Lanolin based moisturizer. I say use emollients and not soaps as they are more effective, but it's also using what you feel more comfortable with. If your diabetes does go out of control then just the sugar will feed the bugs, so it's great you have tight control. Take care.
What should I do if I am 97 years old and I want to be circumcised because when I pee, it sprays all over the bathroom? My urologist does not want to do surgery. I need to stop peeing everywhere, and it always seems to soak my pants, leg ulcer bandages, socks, and shoes. What can I do?
There is possibility you need to spray athlete's foot on it. A nurse would give you a cream and be so embarrassed. You can only shower for 3 minutes. So if you have cracking, then put an antifungal. Doctors do not know what this is because they wear fresh shoes. It is easy enough to put an antifungal.
I tried to pull it back but now it's not being normal I am feeling uneasy . My penis head is too big so my foreskin is not able to cover it back .😢😢 what can I do ? Please give suggestion
Question of how bad the phimosis and how much of a problem it is. If not causing a problem then fine to leave if all healthy. If you have a lover, then can they help?
As long as you can pull it back, even when soft, means it is easier to clean. As long as it all functions well, I wouldn't be too concerned. Also may loosen up as you age.
Doc i am 17 and my foreskin retract almost 60% and i was unknown about the restraction of foreskin . Its my second day for trying it and it goes more than half.should i try restriting with until with little pains?
Thank you for your question. You can retract as far as you want provided it's not painful. It will be sensitive, that's normal, as been covered for 17 years. Feel free to retract all the way, provided it's not painful. No rush, take it easy and wash gently with water. I hope this helps Dr Bret Palmer
@@DrBretPalmer thanks doc and 1 more query I think I can restrict it fully with only little pain but can it restore upward easily or there is any chance the foreskin remain downward causing pain
@jrgaming224 if the skin is loose then it should return back. If gets a little stuck, then water can help as a lubricant and some gentle manipulation. If firmly stuck and won't return, then you will need to see an emergency doctor. Most foreskins will return and some will need a little encouragement.
Hello My foreskin was tight before After watching videos on TH-cam,i started pull the skin with hot water Now i can pull the skin back but when get an erection it starts to pain also to pull back the skin to normal i have to put some force Is it normal and what's the casue for pain while the foreskin is behind the head and when i get erection it pains
Ay I don’t have any pain or discomfort at all while peeing or anything but I can only pull it back around the line where the pee comes out when erected it’s harder to pull back and sometimes feels stiff the inside of the head is unbelievably sensitive any ideas on how to fix those problems
The first item is to free up the foreskin, if this can occur then the sensitivity will reduce. To free up the foreskin you can use stretching rings, or see a urologist and consider a slit or circumcision depending on your view of your foreskin.
Hello Doctor,Im in my teen years and I only resently learnt about that you can pull back your foreskin. Sometimes I can pull it back, but when i do,the skin foreskin pells back on itself, and when I get to the bottom of the gland, its tough to remove. Could you give me some advice Thanks
Hi there, Watch the video, another coming soon. Best to use an emollient instead of soap and wash with water after you pee, remember to retract your foreskin when you pee.
Thank you for your comment, not sure what you mean by attached to your 'heart'? The foreskin is attached to the shaft of the penis and there is a small thin strand of tissue, called the Frenulum, this connects the underside to the head of the penis, this is all normal. I hope I've helped to answer you question. Kind regards Dr Bret Palmer
Can help but also take alot of time as well. If you are young, the foreskin may loosen with age. If over 19 then may not loosen that much. Be careful not to damage yourself and can consider stretching rings, most people don't like them. If you can do everything you need to, with regards to sex, then don't be too concerned about it. Good luck and take care. Dr Bret Palmer
@@DrBretPalmer I'm a similar age, everthing seems to function fine although I haven't had sex yet, but am concerned about smegma. I clean what I can but can't fully retract the foreskin expose the glans, only about half.
Not always, depends on the reasons. Can be self cleaning but if there's a problem and people have phimosis, which is life long, then they tend to go down the circumcision or slit route.
This is now affecting me mentally as I have phimosis now for abiut 8 years . Started just gradually closing up. I have no pain and seems clean as i have no odours . I am 54 years old with ED and type 2 diabetic which could partly be to blame . I cant get full erection to have intercourse now with my wife going on almost 2 years . Even Viagra and Ciallis dont work anymore . I was given vials of a stimulant liquid that works by stimulating the head of my penis but there was barely an opening to administer it properly. This is very depressing . I have phimosis rings but can be sore to apply them .
Hello dr, am 20 years old now and still i cant retract my skin not even 10%, there is no pain or any discomfort. What should i do can u give me any advice
My son is going through this at the moment . We were given cream . Seems likes it opening more but tip seems to be a little red . Is that normal or is the cream giving him an affection? Betamethasone dipropionate
How old is he? Why was you given a steroid cream? Please note phimosis is normal for young men. It's common for the foreskin not to loosen up until puberty.
I’m very young and never experienced this until last night when I woke up from a “wet dream” feeling lots of sensitivity down there so when I get up to change and get undressed I look down to discover that it was fully retraced exposing the “head” after doing some research I found out I am supposed to pull it back to clean I haven’t tried this yet and still have to shower tonight but I think it would be sensitive to pull back I was wondering if there was any tips sorry if I was over sharing there but I’m nervous about it and would want to hear some answers from a person who has already experienced this
Yes, Phimosis is a hard battle to conquer for some... I'm currently at a roughly 10mm opening.(im my 40's) I never had issues until about 3 years ago, it started closing in little by little. Tried cream... tried rings(which works for awhile)..but now I'm just wondering what to do. There's no pain, no discomfort during intercourse. I have to clean with Qtips and I use a clean, empty soap bottle tip that fits perfectly under the skin to pump water underneath(Tips for guys who need this). Anyway... Doctor keep saying to monitor... but doesn't seem to be worried. Which is weird. Anyone have ideas? Should I try different rings? Should I try different creams or am I doomed to circumcision?
If everything works perfectly, then it should be fine. If the foreskin is just starting to get tighter then can consider a steroid cream to see if it frees up.
I was told the foreskin stretchy but if you roll the foreskin over your finger at the end, it feels like an O-ring. That can only stretch a little and sometimes it closes off so you can’t pee so would circumcising the problem area Of foreskin Only and only take it off or you absolutely have to would that solve the problem. My last question is. Which type of circumcision leaves less scarring tissue. This will also include the plastic piece that they can go and cramp on to the foreskin.
If you feel a ring, then this could be fibrosis which can cause phimosis. A urologist can assess and decide which procedure would be suitable. I hope that helps answer your question?
I am 17 this year and currently having phimosis.I have no problem pulling the foreskin allowing small part of the glan to be exposed when not penis is not hard. Are there any other ways to let the penis bevome like normal natural retracted penis and in what condition do I need to consult a doctor?
Phimosis for some is natural. Some guys use stretching rings, but many don't like them. You only need to see a doctor if you have pain, discomfort or masturbation or sex becomes difficult to complete. I hope this helps. Kind regards Dr Bret Palmer
Hey Doc I am 21, My foreskin opens 50-60% and I never have any issue with my penis but what effects my mental health is that the left side of my head is Greyish from the time I have 1st seen it or Slightly reddish although it doesn’t hurt or anything it’s slightly sensitive than right side of my head pls tell me they’re a nothing to worry about. My father told it’s normal just clean it daily
@@DrBretPalmerDear Doctor thanks for replying,Just few more queries, this problem is there for atleast 5-6yrs minimum that was the first time I saw under the foreskin, although it doesn’t pain or anything but when I touch the left side of the greyish part it’s more sensitive like it slightly burns .I got the courage to ask my father to see me a doctor who told me to see a dermatologist.Hopefully everything will be fine,I can’t even sleep properly every were I see in TH-cam they say red or grey colour not going for years can be cancer 😭😞 Pls GOD I don’t wanna leave my parents these early
@gamingworld3803 okay stop catastrophizing. If this has been here for years then probably not cancer. Most genital cancers kill quite quickly. Also you are doing the right thing by going to see a dermatologist to get it checked out. Stop using soap and use water, with ot without an emollient. Then take it from there. Is it bleeding? If not and all one colour then that goes against penile cancer as well.
@@DrBretPalmerit never bleeds. But different areas have different colour .Like Right side the top part looks clean and more deep I open the foreskin it’s slightly red where as the left side top it starts with slightly normal pink then there stars the greyish or dark bluish color mostly which when gets touched feels slightly irritating or burning sometimes not every time and then just like the right side deep ending is red with no pain in both sides if it doesn’t gets healed is it still ok? And My foreskin is sometimes tight and sticky and sometimes easily opened.BTW thank-you so much doctor for helping me.I will inform u what it is after I see a dermatologist today ❤.Apparently, the check up is delay and will be on 2nd Jan
Hello doctor! I can only retract half of my glans with smegma and my smegma is harden. Will cream and coconut oil help soften the smegma? Hope you’ll respond to me❤
Hi there, Best thing to do with hard smegma, is to soak it. Have a bath retract as far is comfortable and let it soak. Will take time to free up. Can use an emollient to speed up the process. Hope this is useful. Take care
@DrBretPalmer thank you so much I'm 13 and it wouldn't go all the way over the ridge only partly and I realised it was smegma so I'll start taking baths and doing as you said cheers m8
Can do. Depends how tight the phimosis is to be honest. I've little experience with them. Usually if the phimosis is causing pain then circumcision is usually recommended when infections are ruled out. I hope that helps
Mine has happened off and on o er many years mainly last 35 , but over two years it’s never got back to normal like previously it is impossible now to retract it at all , the skin has shrunk so Amal I have given up I have no sex life at all , im thinking of using these rings along with. Cream that’s advertised on the net , as I have been referred to specialist that was two years ago , still not seen anyone all I can say is I’m completely disgusted with the U.K. NHS they just say there’s a king waiting list can’t help go away I’m so depressed it’s ruining my life what left of it I have I’m 66
@Genghis-Khan121 hi there, a sexual health clinic will probably not help you on this matter. GP will refer you to a urologist. Buy all means try the stretching rings. The other option is circumcision. Does depend on what direction you are going. If circumcision, then informing the GP of the effect this is having on your mental health may help speed the process. I agree the NHS is not in a good place, that's because the UK government is running it into the ground so they can privatise it. At the next election, don't vote conservative.
It may of caused a mild chemical burn, stop using dettol, just use water to wash and you can use an emollient to wash as well, do NOT use soap. Keep foreskin retracted where possible, at night return foreskin back to normal position. Take care
No that is very painful. Ideally if you are getting problems and simple measures are not working, then you need to have a consultation with a urologist and consider a circumcision.
Almost 19, never been able to retract my foreskin at all, never seen any of the head before, cant really stretch it with how tight it is, also sometimes hurts to pee because of it, i just want it to be normal.
If causing pain and you are unable to do all the things you want, then you can use stretching rings or consider a urology review for a surgical op. Depends on your view of your foreskin.
Im 17 and I cant retract it all the way. It kinda hurts when I retract it as far as i can go. When i take showers i can retract it quite far but not all the way. I'll be able to pull it back all they way like once a week or something. Idk what to do. And also when I wee it smells like fish and its not nice. pls help
Hi there. Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully, in a few years, it should free up more. But the more you retract, the easier it should become. If it smells, then watch the hygiene video. Retract as far as is comfortable when urinating then, if in a private bathroom, wash the head of the penis, don't use soap, can use an emollient. All this should help. Take care Bret
oh wow. thats very comforting to hear at 0:43 cause i dont feel any pain. BUT then at 1:23 that scared me again. because i can use to 1 year ago. But i dont experience pain or anything. but i just can't retract it back. but if i am not facing any pain. can i just leave it. its been over a year. and i dont feel any extreme pain or pain at all.
No pain is great, if you can perform all the functions you require then you don't have to be too concerned. If you want to free the foreskin up, then a steroid cream may not work. You can get it reviewed by a doctor, to make sure the skin is healthy, but they may recommend circumcision, which you don't need if all working. Alternatively, you can do stretching exercises to help free the foreskin up.
Hi, I’m 13 years old. I didn’t hit puberty yet and can’t pull my skin back. For my whole life I didn’t know it was an issue and now I’m concerned bc I discovered this vid. Pls help🙏🏾🥺
Use a 0.05% betamethazone stereoid cream on the rigid foreskin band and use a stretching ring kit. If there's no changes in a year then you might need circumcision
Ignore any advice you have received. You are only 13. Some guys don't retract until their late teens. Practice retracting, don't force it and I wouldn't be to concerned, I'd advise against stretching rings at 13 as the penis and foreskin are still developing.
Sir, i am 45 years old and i have phimosis from 8 years ago.I recently purchased phimosis stretching rings and using it with coconut oil.will it helpfull?
The oil won't help, but may make it more comfortable. Stretching can help but take time. Like Stretching your ear lobes. Long term approach. Let me know how you get on. Take care
From only a week of stretching for 10-15m 2/3 times a day. I’m already making a LOT of progress, and my phimosis case was pretty bad. I’m now afraid to pull too far in case paraphimosis happens. Any tips on how to know to prevent it?
Glad the stretching has helped. If you think you are still tight at the base the keep stretching. When the penis is soft and cold then should be able to retract and recover, low risk of paraphimosis unless you have a very tight ring of tissue.
Thanks doc. If I may also ask, the head if my penis is VERY sensitive. Too sensitive to even touch for a millisecond since i’ve always had trouble pulling foreskin over the head fully. Is this something worrying, or will it correct itself over time being used to exposure without the foreskin covering it all the time
@jake_fx yes it is self correcting and nothing to be concerned about. More air time will reduce the sensitivity. Don't sleep with the foreskin retracted.
Yeap that's normal. Late puberty is fine. No hair at all at the base of the penis or on scrotum? If not a single change, maybe worth just getting a review from your family doctor. But right now I'm not concerned by anything you've said.
Depends how it is affecting you. If not too bad then while you are awake, keep the foreskin retracted to toughen the skin and will help to reduce the sensitivity with time
No, you can stretch, please see stretching video last week. Also can do a dorsal slit. But if stretching doesn't work then circumcision is another option.
@@DrBretPalmer I’m on creams first but if it don’t work yes but yeah I just got referred to urologist other day but yeah I’d rather get local instead of general I feel like it’s also more safe for me since I do got high blood pressure and sleep apnea I snore a lot when I sleep
@carlogarcia209 ah okay, ask the anesthetist to see if he would be happy to do a local as well as your urologist. Either way, operation is usually safe.
Is your diabetes well controlled? Thrush can trigger a tight foreskin, this is more common in diabetics, so good control is important. Ideally see your family doctor and or diabetic nurse and if in UK can also visit sexual health clinic if diabetes is all fine and under control. Take care Dr Bret Palmer
@glennpryce7281 if you are diabetic, good sugar control is important, don't use soap, use an emollient. If sugar control is poor and you go for a circumcision, then wound healing will be prolonged and difficult. I'd discuss everything with your diabetic nurse first. Take care
To tight as nothing will move or can at least see the tip. Generally the more you practice the easier it gets. Try retracting every pee time, this helps free up the foreskin over the months.
To clean any surface to ideally need to see it. I'd advise to retract, if unable consider stretching the foreskin (watch the video) otherwise may need to see your doctor or local sexual health service.
@@DrBretPalmer but you said that for adult with no pain phimosis is totally fine and nothing to be worried about. I usually just clean the foreskin. So I don't have to deal with cleaning the smegma?
Do you have phimosis? If so, then clean what you can, and it should be okay. If you don't have phimosis, and can retract the foreskin, then it's better to clean properly. Smegma is the build up of old secretions and better to wash them away if you can. Some guys with a heavy phimosis can't clean so they can only clean the out side, if there is any problems e.g. bleeding or infection then you need to get a circumcision so the glands can be reviewed. I hope that makes sense.
Hopefully will ease up with time as you get older. Some guys do just have a tight frenulum, occasionally during sex it can tear a little, this will bleed, not to worry just hold bleeding area for 10 mins with a tissue if this does occur. I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
My 2 year old son foreskin use to pull back right back and recently it stop after he got an Infection to the skin his doctor give him medication for the infection but the foreskin is still not going back show i be worried
Not necessarily, has the infection completely cleared. If not can see the doctor again, may need a steroid cream if left with a phimosis. Your doctor will know this.
What happens if upon erection the tightness causes pain and discomfort? Also there like a redness and inflammation around the ring opening (on the foreskin itself) with skin that seems to be dead hanging off and every now and then it will bleed
As the foreskin is stopping you for performing normally the see a sexual health doctor to see what they say, may need a cream to calm the skin. If becoming white, then may need a steroid cream. If otherwise another problem then may need a circumcision. Either way best to get the foreskin reviewed.
My foreskin is tight and painful, redness, inflammation, it's driving me to despair. Is it possible to circumcize yourself if you get the right medical instruments, and cleanse the wound afterwards?
@jameshughes9329 I'd advise to see a sexual health doctor first. And follow advice in the videos, no soap, use water, gentle stretching and retraction where possible. DO NOT do a circumcision yourself, it WILL end very VERY BADLY. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1743609515319196 I think you can get shang ring, I don't know much about them but I'd advise not to use them. See a doctor.
Hello doctor, im 24, i can retract foreskin completely when flaccid but cant retract fully when erect. Im not having pain or any discomfort as of now, but im terrified by the idea of developing paraphimosis or any other complications during intercourse. Im also worried if this is agfecting the quality of erection, due to social stigma and the awkwardness around this topic i have refrained from addressing the matter, it would be great if u gave some insight on this matter, thankyou.
Hi there, sounds all good. When flaccid you can wash behind the foreskin, if does get trapped when erect, then will likely return when you lose your erection, otherwise can stretch your foreskin to slowly build up elasticity over time.
So ,I'm 19, i didnt try to retract my foreskin becouse i didnt knew is posible , i tryed and i can do it when is not erected , so i can clean it ,but when it start to get erected ,or when is fully erected i cant retract it , i never had sex ,and I wonder if its a problem for that or i can do it without the foreskin retracted ?
Recently, I pulled my foreskin for the first time. I am able to pull my foreskin fully when its flaccid, but not fully when erected. What are your thoughts on that ? Should I be worried ? Pls help doc.
Im thinking of getting cut but is it true you lose sensitivity? I tried the rings but either i didnt do it right or they just dont work for me. Getting the circumcision isnt a problem for me but im concerned about the sensitivity
I started my phimosis treatment with phimosis stretching 10mm ring size before 18 days ago and now i am using 14mm ring size. How long will it take to cure my phimosis completely?
I'm 27 and only just finding out this is a thing, so apparently when erect the foreskin retracts itself? I didn't even know that as mine doesn't, I've always had a tight foreskin especially as a teen but when I was a teen I did a bit of stretching to loosen it, I can pull it back pretty normally when flaccid, when erect I can pull it back maybe just past halfway
How to apply steroid or coconut oil ? Along the shaft and head of the penis, is it okay to put some of these creams / oils into the actual penis opening to help with stretching ? Thank You.
Usually should be okay. Steroid cream should only be applied sparingly to the tight band of skin causing the phimosis - the doctor who prescribed the cream should of explained how to apply and for how long. Usually no longer than a month and stop immediately if you get skin thinning, or other unwanted changes.
Yes that is very common. If you can fully retract when soft then you can still clean under the foreskin then. Some times stretching it gently can help free the foreskin after a while.
Absolutely not. The devices on the Internet are not recommended my doctors. Self circumcision can lead to infection, blood loss and necrosis of the skin and tissues which if not seen to can lead to loss of the penis or death through sepsis/blood loss if goes very badly. I'd advise not to do this.
Hey doc. You say that it is not a problem to not be able to retract the foreskin but while having sex it tends to push the foreskin down the head due to the motion and im not use to have my foreskin down which somehow make my penis go numb and doesnt get any pleasure . And i resently getting softer after the foreskin get retract while having sex. Help please it so frustrating.
As it is causing a problem, then this is a problem. Try to stretch the foreskin slowly or you may need to consider a dorsal slit or circumcision, depending on your view of your foreskin. You doctor can give you more advice.
@someshghunowa767 depends on the causes of the phimosis. If always been tight stretching may help. If recently got tighter then need to rule out infection then cortisone steroid may help. Hydrocortisone is a mold steroid, sometimes a stronger steroid for 2-3 weeks under doctor supervision may help.
hi doctor, I am 17 , I want to clear smegma under my foreskin I got hypersensitivity and little phimosis (I can retract 3/4 of head using lubrication) when I tried to remove it , its hurts please guide me how to remove it I will be highly thankful to you I am very feared due to this . It's a request. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi there, practice retracting the foreskin and may loosen with time. With regards to smegma removal, you can try to have a bath, no soap and retract the foreskin and allow the penis to soak for 15mins this will help remove the smegma over time. You can use an emollient and practice retracting the foreskin every time you pee then splashing water on it to wash off any urine. This, over time will help clear up the smegma. I hope this helps. Dr Bret Palmer
@@DrBretPalmer dear doc ,one more information I got inflammation of penis head and foreskin by the use of dilute dettol antiseptic liquid on it . Can it cure by itself or I should use Clotrimazole cream . I am afraid.
Hi, I’m 15 and still haven’t retracted it fully yet, I can do it half way but then it starts to hurt. what reminded me to try it now is that… okay it sounds stupid but I was playing in the woods with friends and the day after that there was a tiny leaf on the glans, but obviously covered by the foreskin so I can’t get to it.. I’m guessing it somehow got in my underwear and entered in my sleep. It hasn’t gone completely in obviously but ny glans are very sensitive so in the morning when I am erect, it REALLY like REALLY hurts meaning I can’t get erect. Please can I have any tips on getting this little leaf out without operation or surgery. I’ve tried tweezers but when I go in the foreskin shuts because I can’t hold it open at the same time.. I know it’s stupid I’m sorry for the long comment. I’m scared to tell my parents as I find it quite embrassing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated because I literally can’t get enough sleep because I keep waking up a 5 am because of the pain and discomfort this is causing. Thanks so much Doc.
Sorry for the late reply. Have a bath, relax and gentle retract the foreskin, then wave the penis under the water and hopefully the leaf will come loose. But also maybe less sensitive and could pick it off under water. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
Hey doc, thanks for the video but I have one concern. When erected, I'm able to pull back the foreskin halfway but I'm scared to pull it back all the way. I think it may not retract😅. Can you please help me out here! Its affecting my sexual life
Hi doc, I'm 25 now and never tried to pull back foreskin at teenage since I was not at all aware of this process also the skin was too tight. Recently able to pull foreskin when its flaccid with some effort ( not very smoothly) but not able to do when erect since it's very tight. I'm having a concern whether there is any chance of foreskin getting pulled back automatically during intercourse and whether it leads to any injury/ bleeding?
@@DrBretPalmer Thanks doc for clearing my query, now I am retracting foreskin without much effort during flaccid state and with some techniques I'm able to bring back it to original position and doesn't felt much pain as recent times. I'm getting married in a month, so I was worried about this. I think gradually foreskin will strech and able to retract in erect state
Hi doc, I retracted the foreskin in flaccid for the first time in my life on August 2024, later with little effort during erected state. Recently I got married and noticed that during intercourse the foreskin retracts fully and becomes very tight which is preventing ejaculation. What could be solution for this. Any advise?
@chrinc122 congrats on getting married as well as sorting the foreskin. If it is overly tight during sex, is this a new thing? If it is then maybe able to use a cream, if not a new development then may have to speak to a urologist to have a circumcision. If that's not acceptable then if there is an obvious tight band then some people will try to gently stretch the band, either with fingers or stretching rings.
I have never retracted my foreskin back and now I'm 21 I can see my penis But can't retract the foreskin back , if i try it hurts a bit Will i able to retract it ever Without any surgery???
Does depend on the cause of the tight foreskin. If just too narrow and tight then may need stretching rings. For some guys it is just too tight. However if all works fine and no problems then this is all good.
@@DrBretPalmer Circumcision is not a big deal, it doesn't cause any problems, and it has a lot of benefits. Males who got circumcised as a baby didn't lose any rights. Men have bodily autonomy, women do not. Men still have more rights than women do, and that needs to change.
@cks7548 hi there, I agree this issue is blow out of proportion by the pro and anti sections. I'm neutral on the subject and from the UK, circumcision is only really used for medical reasons or religious reasons. I personally don't think any procedure on men or women should be performed unless there is a sound medical reason.
@@DrBretPalmer Having a foreskin can cause infections and diseases and tight foreskin issues. Circumcision also protects against UTIs and penile cancer.
@cks7548 actually removing the foreskin in a teenager or adult doesn't change the risk of penile cancer. With regards to infections, yes a circumcised penis is easier to keep clean and prone to less irritation but also remember babies do get infections and a few die because of the operation. It's natural to have a foreskin and for most easy to keep clean. Can stretch the foreskin in adults where it is tight
@@GBpackersFAN10 ya with streching now it's normal bcz I didn't opened foreskin in my teen life that's why it became tight but after streching in 2 weeks it is normal and fine
Since the foreskin contains a high number of Langerhans’ cells it can be easily stretched and manipulated since they actually grow longer with stretching exercises. It’s time consuming but much more convenient than surgery.
How much time does it generally take
@reubenelite usually months.
How long would it take to stretch an earlobe, usually months.
@DrBretPalmer so stretching and pulling the foreskin down 2/3 times in a day would make it loose enough over time??
Use vaseline on your knob and foreskin- still on your knob if circumcised, because as you do get older- well anyone can leak urine some and this is a good protector to prevent skin irritation and therefore yeast infection. 😮😊😁
Vaseline does make a barrier, but then prevents the skin from breathing, I'd suggest a good moisturizer.
Either way, thank you for sharing what you do.

Take care.
Please do a video on issues with the frenulum and whether circumcision or creams can help!
Will add to the list. Thank you.
What should I do if I am 97 years old and I want to be circumcised because when I pee, it sprays all over the bathroom? My urologist does not want to do surgery. I need to stop peeing everywhere, and it always seems to soak my pants, leg ulcer bandages, socks, and shoes. What can I do?
thank you so much man i was stressing about it but now i know its ok
Take care 👍
There is possibility you need to spray athlete's foot on it. A nurse would give you a cream and be so embarrassed. You can only shower for 3 minutes. So if you have cracking, then put an antifungal. Doctors do not know what this is because they wear fresh shoes. It is easy enough to put an antifungal.
If you require an antifungal then buy an antifungal cream. Don't spray foot treatments on your genitals.
I tried to pull it back but now it's not being normal I am feeling uneasy . My penis
head is too big so my foreskin is not able to cover it back .😢😢 what can I do ? Please give suggestion
Sorry for late reply, just found your comment.
Did you replace the foreskin?
Cold water helps to shrink down the penis.
What to do if you’re disabled and have a limited way to do things like stretching, etc
Question of how bad the phimosis and how much of a problem it is. If not causing a problem then fine to leave if all healthy.
If you have a lover, then can they help?
Hey doc apparently I can retract it perfectly fine when it’s flaccid, but when it’s erected it can only be pulled halfway down of the tip
If not pain and all works then it's fine and I wouldn’t be too concerned.
Does it not affect erection quality though?
@HealWentworth some people phimosis can, others it doesn't.
Very individual.
I can see the tip but can’t pull it past but thanks for the advice
@Bob-ef4zj practice, hopefully will loosen with time. Like all stretching, try to hold the stretch for a few minutes.
So my foreskin only pull back when it’s sleeping but when it’s hard it can’t pull back I’m 17 I need help on how to fix it
As long as you can pull it back, even when soft, means it is easier to clean.
As long as it all functions well, I wouldn't be too concerned. Also may loosen up as you age.
Mine loosened up after the years
How do you yu know when it needs to be cleaned if u have never before
Good question, just clean it daily or after peeing.
I forced the foreskin down and theres nothing painful but i have like layers of foreskin when i retract it and it looks wierd
I hope this helps
Dr Bret Palmer
@@DrBretPalmer thanks doc and 1 more query I think I can restrict it fully with only little pain but can it restore upward easily or there is any chance the foreskin remain downward causing pain
@jrgaming224 if the skin is loose then it should return back. If gets a little stuck, then water can help as a lubricant and some gentle manipulation.
If firmly stuck and won't return, then you will need to see an emergency doctor. Most foreskins will return and some will need a little encouragement.
Hello
My foreskin was tight before
After watching videos on TH-cam,i started pull the skin with hot water
Now i can pull the skin back but when get an erection it starts to pain also to pull back the skin to normal i have to put some force
Is it normal and what's the casue for pain while the foreskin is behind the head and when i get erection it pains
@vihaankumar2678 Hopefully will loosen up as you get older. You don't have to retract the foreskin to have sex.
Mine bends left
?
Mine does also
Ay I don’t have any pain or discomfort at all while peeing or anything but I can only pull it back around the line where the pee comes out when erected it’s harder to pull back and sometimes feels stiff the inside of the head is unbelievably sensitive any ideas on how to fix those problems
Could you give me some advice
Thanks
You are young, take it easy, all sounds normal. Retract to wash with water, no soap. And will loosen with time.
Hey sir i am 16 can u pls help me i am currently having smegma and bad smell pls give me advice what to do
Hi there,
Watch the video, another coming soon. Best to use an emollient instead of soap and wash with water after you pee, remember to retract your foreskin when you pee.

Hey doc mine won’t go back over the tip after pulling it back, I’m stressing
Is it normal to have a small piece of foreskin attached to the heart pls help
Thank you for your comment, not sure what you mean by attached to your 'heart'?
The foreskin is attached to the shaft of the penis and there is a small thin strand of tissue, called the Frenulum, this connects the underside to the head of the penis, this is all normal.
I hope I've helped to answer you question.
Kind regards
Dr Bret Palmer
sorry doc if it does not retract after age 2 cut it off
Absolutely not. Completely normal not to retract until teens.
@@DrBretPalmer oh goodness. That sounds mucky to me. The British medical world has become very anti circumcision

I'm 23, and streching exercise can help to retract completely?
Can help but also take alot of time as well. If you are young, the foreskin may loosen with age. If over 19 then may not loosen that much. Be careful not to damage yourself and can consider stretching rings, most people don't like them.
If you can do everything you need to, with regards to sex, then don't be too concerned about it.
Good luck and take care.
Dr Bret Palmer
@@DrBretPalmer what will be the streching exercise? How much time it will take to losen the forskin?
@@DrBretPalmer I'm a similar age, everthing seems to function fine although I haven't had sex yet, but am concerned about smegma. I clean what I can but can't fully retract the foreskin expose the glans, only about half.
@newtheory985 give it time, gentle stretching and you'll be able to fully retract with time.
If you can't retract it, sound like it would be kind of stinky.
Not always, depends on the reasons. Can be self cleaning but if there's a problem and people have phimosis, which is life long, then they tend to go down the circumcision or slit route.
@@DrBretPalmerwhats the slit route?
@Ph3zzyMain it's where a urologist makes a cut into the foreskin (a slit) that allows the foreskin to be retracted.
I’m very young and never experienced this until last night when I woke up from a “wet dream” feeling lots of sensitivity down there so when I get up to change and get undressed I look down to discover that it was fully retraced exposing the “head” after doing some research I found out I am supposed to pull it back to clean I haven’t tried this yet and still have to shower tonight but I think it would be sensitive to pull back I was wondering if there was any tips sorry if I was over sharing there but I’m nervous about it and would want to hear some answers from a person who has already experienced this
sir, can this happen due to being obese?
You can have trouble retracting your foreskin if you are overweight, but if you keep good hygiene practices, then should be okay.
@DrBretPalmer yes, I gotta get used to touching inner parts of it, just because it is so sensitive. I hope it would be better. Thank you
Yes, Phimosis is a hard battle to conquer for some...
Olive oil was a Godsend, it made the pain and tightness go away.
I was told the foreskin stretchy but if you roll the foreskin over your finger at the end, it feels like an O-ring. That can only stretch a little and sometimes it closes off so you can’t pee so would circumcising the problem area
Of foreskin Only and only take it off or you absolutely have to would that solve the problem.
Ask your doctor about dorsal slit .. cutting it open but not removing it
@frontiervirtcharter I think it's a good idea, not a common procedure, as urologists for some reason prefer to do the whole circumcision.
Olive oil was a Godsend, it made the pain and tightness go away.

I've little experience with them. Usually if the phimosis is causing pain then circumcision is usually recommended when infections are ruled out.

The other option is circumcision. Does depend on what direction you are going.
If circumcision, then informing the GP of the effect this is having on your mental health may help speed the process.

Yeah but it’s not painless if it rips back during sex, what about that?
No that is very painful. Ideally if you are getting problems and simple measures are not working, then you need to have a consultation with a urologist and consider a circumcision.
I have heard if you don’t clean it your skin wont pull back at alll
Not true, but good to keep clean and pull back regularly provided not painful

No pain is great, if you can perform all the functions you require then you don't have to be too concerned.
If you want to free the foreskin up, then a steroid cream may not work. You can get it reviewed by a doctor, to make sure the skin is healthy, but they may recommend circumcision, which you don't need if all working.

To clean any surface to ideally need to see it. I'd advise to retract, if unable consider stretching the foreskin (watch the video) otherwise may need to see your doctor or local sexual health service.

If you don't have phimosis, and can retract the foreskin, then it's better to clean properly. Smegma is the build up of old secretions and better to wash them away if you can.

I think you can get shang ring, I don't know much about them but I'd advise not to use them. See a doctor.
doc. i am able to retract it when it isn't erected. but not able to do so when it is erected. any suggestions?
If it works, I wouldn't worry about it. May loosen as you age.
Hi there, good question.
Nope it is not a problem. If it works during masturbation, then should be fine during sex, all sounds normal
Take care
@@DrBretPalmer thanks a lot for the response ,I really thought i had a problem an I was concerned when I saw some videos about this
While having sex is it necessary that the foreskin should be back of the penis head or can we have sex without pulling the foreskin pulled back?
@vihaankumar2678 you don't have to pull the foreskin back to have sex. Just as long as comfortable then that is fine.
Recently, I pulled my foreskin for the first time. I am able to pull my foreskin fully when its flaccid, but not fully when erected. What are your thoughts on that ? Should I be worried ? Pls help doc.
No need to be concerned. You can retract when soft so you can clean after passing urine.
Sounds all normal 👍
@@DrBretPalmer Thanks Doc 👍
Yea but when u try to clean it when it’s flaccid it stars to get erected then it gets tight again what to do then??
@GBpackersFAN10 just a quick splash with cold water. Quickly retract and splash. No need to an overly long gentle rubbing!
Im thinking of getting cut but is it true you lose sensitivity? I tried the rings but either i didnt do it right or they just dont work for me. Getting the circumcision isnt a problem for me but im concerned about the sensitivity
For some guys it does reduce, others it doesn't. If you don't need it done, don't get it done.
Or consider a slit?
@@DrBretPalmer a slit? What's that
Keep trying. Don’t get anything removed!
Olive oil was a Godsend, it made the pain and tightness go away.

I started my phimosis treatment with phimosis stretching 10mm ring size before 18 days ago and now i am using 14mm ring size. How long will it take to cure my phimosis completely?
Sounds like good progress. I've limited experience on ring stretching, but let us know how you get on.
Im a adult and was never able to pull back but i alwsys been scared to have sex
SIR I AM HAVING ACUMULATION OF SMEGMA WHAT IS THE PRECAUTIONS AND remedies
How to clear it it's tight layer
Some has been cleared but some has been left
Hi there, you just need to retract and wash, the smegma will go. Follow instructions within the video
Just keep washing daily and after you pee, no soap, just water
I'm 27 and only just finding out this is a thing, so apparently when erect the foreskin retracts itself? I didn't even know that as mine doesn't, I've always had a tight foreskin especially as a teen but when I was a teen I did a bit of stretching to loosen it, I can pull it back pretty normally when flaccid, when erect I can pull it back maybe just past halfway
Sounds good, you can clean when soft and as long as no pain when hard that is good. Can stretch gently, a little bit, if you want to.
@@DrBretPalmer Thank You Doctor.
Hey, doc question is it normoral if your skin doesn't fully retract when erected and can only see some of the head of the penis and the gland
Yes that is very common. If you can fully retract when soft then you can still clean under the foreskin then. Some times stretching it gently can help free the foreskin after a while.
Is it possible to perform self circumcision if i clean thoroughly the wound with alcohol afterwards?
Bro do u even know what u r asking pls go to the doctors
Absolutely not. The devices on the Internet are not recommended my doctors. Self circumcision can lead to infection, blood loss and necrosis of the skin and tissues which if not seen to can lead to loss of the penis or death through sepsis/blood loss if goes very badly.
I'd advise not to do this.
Exactly.
Do NOT self circumcise.
@@DrBretPalmer will cortisone cream work at my 23 year old age?
@someshghunowa767 depends on the causes of the phimosis. If always been tight stretching may help.
If recently got tighter then need to rule out infection then cortisone steroid may help. Hydrocortisone is a mold steroid, sometimes a stronger steroid for 2-3 weeks under doctor supervision may help.
Hey, have you resolved this issue?
I don't have pain on retracting it when flaccid but when erect there is pain when i retract but no problem in masturbation. Will it affect sex life ?
hi doctor,
I am 17 , I want to clear smegma under my foreskin I got hypersensitivity and little phimosis (I can retract 3/4 of head using lubrication) when I tried to remove it , its hurts please guide me how to remove it I will be highly thankful to you I am very feared due to this .
@@DrBretPalmer Thanks doc , but i got redness and itchiness of penis head after retraction how to cure that suferring from that problem.
@@DrBretPalmer dear doc ,one more information I got inflammation of penis head and foreskin by the use of dilute dettol antiseptic liquid on it . Can it cure by itself or I should use Clotrimazole cream . I am afraid.
@pranjalsrivastava2052 just wash with water and try to keep retracted to let the air get to it. Return to normal position when sleeping.
@pranjalsrivastava2052 don't use dettol. Just water, if you need to use something, use an emollient.
Hie doc my foreskin pullback when I’m not erect but when erect it impossible what can I do I’m 32
I think i have urine waiting and sometimes i will be erected when i want to urine and this make me hard to urine. Any suggestions, doc?
Passing urine with an erection is very difficult. Just have to try different positions.
Its affecting my sexual life
Can you completely retract when soft?
@@DrBretPalmer yes, but it doesn't retract completely
What is stopping the foreskin from retracting?
Hi doc,
I'm 25 now and never tried to pull back foreskin at teenage since I was not at all aware of this process also the skin was too tight. Recently able to pull foreskin when its flaccid with some effort ( not very smoothly) but not able to do when erect since it's very tight. I'm having a concern whether there is any chance of foreskin getting pulled back automatically during intercourse and whether it leads to any injury/ bleeding?
Don't be concerned, sounds like all working well. Get used to retracting foreskin when you pee and wash and will start to free up with time.
@@DrBretPalmer Thanks doc for clearing my query, now I am retracting foreskin without much effort during flaccid state and with some techniques I'm able to bring back it to original position and doesn't felt much pain as recent times.
I'm getting married in a month, so I was worried about this. I think gradually foreskin will strech and able to retract in erect state
@chrinc122 congratulations on getting married.
Foreskin sounds fine 👍
Hi doc,
I retracted the foreskin in flaccid for the first time in my life on August 2024, later with little effort during erected state.
I have never retracted my foreskin back and now I'm 21
I can see my penis
But can't retract the foreskin back , if i try it hurts a bit
Will i able to retract it ever
Without any surgery???
Does depend on the cause of the tight foreskin. If just too narrow and tight then may need stretching rings. For some guys it is just too tight. However if all works fine and no problems then this is all good.
Olive oil was a Godsend, it made the pain and tightness go away.
It's more dangerous for a male to be uncircumcised than it is for him to be circumcised.
No. I'd say no point in circumcision if no medical need.
