Doing gods work mate 😅 Range Rover is embarrassing … I had one and they are awful! Cheap and nasty inside really and again to steal … I woke up to a guy hanging out of the window trying to steal it …. But my key was in a tin!
For your UK followers you should mention there are other alternatives like getting a Automatrics MTrack tracker installed. In Canada we have something similar from a company named Tag. I would never trust the manufactures; its been shown in NA that people who have spent over $2k for Toyota's top security system have had their vehicle stolen.
Mark just a heads up. I was able to find the said website in under 5 seconds on Google. Please edit the website more for the locksmiths "tool" he used. Or don't. Just rather not have that info out there. Cheers.
The police aren't going to help, they're too busy raiding and arresting people for their social media "crimes"! The police serve the corporations and left wing extremists!
@@bg22757I benefit a lot from it. Can leave my key in the pocket all the time, just grab the handle it opens/closes. It's a very convenient feature. Also big plus I live in Switzerland where nobody would steal a car
the main problem is a lack of consequences for theives. If you try to protect your property, you end up being procesuted and facing jail and fines. Goverment needs to change
You’re 100% correct. My father smacked a burglar halfway thought his bedroom window with a lead pipe he kept beside the bed. Burglar got ‘attempted’ burglary charges because he was went all the way in and got dismissed by the court, dad got $7500 fine, personality correction courses, and suspended sentence (anything inside 3 years and he serves 3 years jail) for assault with a weapon. My advise from here on in…make sure they never leave your property again and never call the cops again
certain insurance companies insure these range rovers for cheaper if theyre damaged, if you kick in a few dents, crack the bumper, its a less desirable target for theives, but I guess yeah an older car kinda skips over that part
The police don't help matters. I had two guys get into my ST. Chased them down the street. Called the police, they said they won't send anyone out as they've left. They could have at least had a quick drive round to see if they can spot them. But, the neighbours obviously called the police about me having a bat and the police came within minutes and arrested me, the victim. Apparently a bat isn't reasonable force despite them having at the very least a Hammer and screwdriver. The fact the police don't attend just gives criminals even more confidence.
The Police have in effect decriminalised many crimes in the UK, the lack of prison spaces and liberal judges and parole officers have made the UKs judicial system a useless joke.
Most RR owners wont be mechanically minded but you can remove OBD port, remove 2 pins, put OBD reader back in place and thieves won’t be able to code new keys. Just don’t forget to put pins back in OBD port when you need to use it for diagnostics.
@@sneekeruk yes, but everyone knows about OBD dummies and will start looking for the proper port. When you remove the 2 pins, there is still power to OBD port, but it’s disconnected from gateway and BCM modules so they can’t write a new key.
@@sneekeruk Install an inverter to feed 240V to the dummy OBD port! That will trash the thieves' equipment and save many of their other potential victims!
Absolutely definitive piece!! Senior police officers and government ministers in the UK should be made to watch this, it should be mandatory. We are a soft touch. Thank you Mark for highlighting this problem. It's been talked about before, but not shown as well anywhere else but this video.
Haha, UK's senior police officers and ministers are all corrupt and paid to _allow_ this to happen. They don't care one bit about the tragedies, costs, dangers to the citizenship. They care about getting their career path secured and getting handsomely paid by corrupt politicians and foreign actors.
It would put pressure on them to actually check shipping containers. Or provide community advice to people on how to secure cars on driveways. Anything other than complete inaction and providing a crime number for insurance,@@itsjoycey1567
There are always things we can do to combat criminals. Saying 'there's nothing we can do' emboldens them and gives them full licence to act. @@mememaster147
Great video and information. Here in the US, specifically in states with the castle law, thieves are often shot while trying to steal vehicles on owners property. But these relay thefts are definitely on the rise here. Folks should all have one of those little Faraday boxes at home to place their key fobs in.
If car thieves want a car, they will do whatever is necessary to get it. I had my A35 stolen on January 4th from my drive. The thieves walked by the cameras, security lights, etc, and can be seen looking into the car to see a steering lock. They went away for 10 minutes and then came back with tools to break in via the side door on the house. They got the keys and away they went. The car was found in Liverpool 10 days later on stolen plates having been in a bad RTC. Thankfully, my family was not physically hurt as the thieves were in and out, but it has mentally affected my 6 year old daughter, which is what really upsets both me and my wife.
@andypandy9931 Haha, definitely not. Was my AMG A35. It's just a shame that we work so hard to get something, for some little scroat to just take it away in seconds. I'll hopefully have a new A35 in a couple of months as I'm not going to let what happened put me off owning other.
@freddieparrydrums Yeah, it was a great car mate! I should have a new one in a couple of months. I just gotta decide if I want an older premium plus with the aero pack etc, or the new face lift model without the aero pack. The insurance quotes are so far apart with the premium plus now costing 2k for the year and the new face lift premium at £1200 for the year.
This was like some proper investigative journalism. Really enjoyed watching this and I think it fits the channel perfectly. Mark done an excellent job of conveying this information too. Great video.
and some cultures in uk that be a bad thing, they chop your finger off and held you hostage till the car cannot be tracked. my next car ive got two options i like and both have key to start, ones a 2015-2017 age and another old school its around 20 years old and key to open doors. i never get a car push start button or key less entry my next car what ever i pick i keep for decades. cars need to get rid of a lot tech as lot not needed
I had my Mercedes stolen and the thieves knew exactly where the Mercedes Me tracker was. They ripped it out once they'd stopped a short distance away from my home. Fortunately there was an additional aftermarket tracker on the car and it was traced and recovered by police. It seems to me that insurers have had enough of paying out time after time for security deficiencies of companies like JLR and through driving prices up and asking for third party solutions they've started to hit the manufacturer where it hurts, their order books. Ball is in the manufacturers court. Prove that your car's security is improved and the insurance industry will start to relax again. There is also the challenge on the police and the courts to deal with car thieves more effectively. The guy that stole mine was well known locally and had only recently come out of jail for the same offences. Great piece Mark. Keep pushing them and hold them to account.
As stated by Mr Car Thief in the video. A mate had his Tuson stolen last week off his drive. Found later that day through the power of Facebook, parked a couple of streets away. As good as the Ghost is, its not recognised by insurance companies :(
After watching tv programmes like Interceptors etc I have a low trust in the courts or justice system, they always seem to get a few months in jail and a small fine at most, while the driving bans seem to do have zero deterrent, they are usually already banned when the police catch them after a chase.
my mates vehicle got stolen. Turns out it was the guys from the showroom he bought from that came to steal it. I also almost had my motorbike stolen. Came home to find a group of bikers outside watching my front door. As was parking the bike, they offered me a race. I declined. they were very persistent. I recognised their bikes but, was unsure. One of the passengers on the back of the bikes had on a half helmet. I recognised him as one of the young men whom serviced my bike at the bike shop. The irony. I bought the bike off ebay from a showroom. The showroom which also did my servicing was 80 miles away
Keyless Ford Fiestas are very vulnerable also. Multiple different ways thieves go after them. Relay theft, boot latch, OBD hack. Your best options are a Disklok + Wheel clamp or an immobilizer. Hiding your OBD port, (and pulling out it's fuse) will also force a thief to set off the thatcham if they try that route. Manufacturers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves that they are producing such vulnerable cars and passing on the cost to the owner when their car gets stolen. Utterly disgraceful!
21:38 Apple air tags transmit a sound when on the move and notifies iPhone users that there’s an AirTag near them that they haven’t registered. Best thing to do is remove the speaker (plenty of tutorials on TH-cam) and fit it somewhere out of sight that way the thieves can’t easily find it and remove it
i bought a second hand mountain bike and my dad went to pick it up for me. when he got home he got alerted there was an apple tag in the bike. it turned out to be a genuine mistake from the seller but for a moment i thought i had been scammed and they were coming to nick it back.
This is why it's scary having a nice car!. When I got my m5 about 8 years ago, it was brand new. I loved it. I got pull out posts fitted to my driveway and a steering lock. Cost me about £400 all in. A week after I got it, a house in the road next to me had an audi s3, an a5, and a bmw x5 all stolen in litrally 50 seconds. A group of lads walked up to the house. One by one, the cars opened, and lads got in and drove away. 2 days later, 2 lads were on my driveway at 2 am looking through my car and scanning my house. (Ring doorbell) They never stole it or opened it. But I didn't ever leave it outside the garage again (was full of stuff previously). It can be annoying, but I always put my steering lock on now, even if I'm just getting a drink from the shop. I do like the idea of getting a tracker fitted, though.
@@SIHRA2 I do agree. The stress is real. It's hard to explain, and people don't get it until they have a nice car. But once you have it, you definitely get worried. I'll never stop having nice cars because of it, but I'm definitely a lot more careful.
@StoryScope0 if I still had the m5 I would agree. I've got myself a 2022 911 turbo now, though. If they come after that one night, I'm definitely being taken to the car to show them how to start it. It just stays in the garage at night now.
good job mate. I'm the same with my motorbike. keep locking your car and make it as much of a hassle as possible to steal. I can guarantee your car will be safe. simple fact is just don't be an easy target for thieves. same goes with everything not just cars and motorcycles. 80% of thieves are opportunists!
Thanks Mark. This is something a lot of people aren’t willing to talk about. It has been hurting almost everyone who drives, not just those with high end cars. Even worse, police and government have been very slow to take action against them.
You can but the way our vehicles keys are designed then makes entry and starting the vehicle fiddly in comparison to an old fashioned key system. I like keyless but the protection needs massive overhaul.

It's not like you couldn't easily steal a vehicle from every peroid with the right tools and evem this video showed easier and safer ways of doing so. You've just been radicalized about this specific topic because it's an easy thing to point at for a headline
The best compromise is to have a system that allows them to drive off a short distance down the road before it shuts down giving the impression that it's broken down. This ensures that they won't break into your house and/or harm you and your family. There was a company that fits key-operated fuel shut-off valves which leaves just enough fuel in the system to allow the car to start and move a short distance.
Yeah, a killswitch which shuts off the fuel pump if it isn't flipped. Frankly they are not that hard to install, I used to have one when I had a nice car that I was concerned about someone stealing.

He literally had a perfectly placed go pro camera inside the car they were “breaking in” rewind the video are people du mb enough to believe this is real 🤡?
What reduces vehicle theft rates is stronger laws, crime punishment and being allowed to defend you property, which the UK lacks. Also, the fact that if your vehicle gets stolen you will also be the victim of a rip off renewal quote from your insurance company is just the icing on top of the cake.
These videos are class. Mark keep it up. Thieves don’t have any deterrent, the police simply aren’t bothered. I had an m235i nicked in 2016 and the police couldn’t have cared less if they tried. Knowing what I know now - if a car does get stolen, you definitely don’t want it back. Let it go. Also, on the subject of finance in the video. If someone can’t afford to clear their finance, they shouldn’t be buying the car to begin with.
Your comment on finance makes sense only for 1% of the population. Most people want to buy a car beyond their means coz they know they can't afford it but want others to think they can 😄😈
@@Calm_wisdom To be fair, it's nothing you couldn't do with an OBD scan tool and a keyfob off ebay for that make of car. Step 1 - Don't buy a Range Rover Step 2 - If you are having to resort to wheel clamps, steering locks and trackers then you might as well ride a motorcycle. The thieves have realised it makes more sense to steal a 100k car in minutes than a 5k bike in one hour. Step 3 - If you car gets nicked, tell the coppers you left your shotgun in the back of the car and they'll have it back to you same day

If you do go the Apple Airtag route, get 2. Hide 1 in a more or less obvious spot, the other really hidden well. Bonuspoints if you disable the speaker on the well hidden one(but do remember where you put it when time comes to change the battery ;) ). I won't do much though, might give you an extra day of tracking with lazy thieves(since it will show up on a modern phone).
The total lack of police presence has given the thieves a green light to do whatever they want. I had my M3 opened, they plugged into the OBD port but for whatever reason left. All directly in front of my CCTV, I asked the police if they wanted the footage and they just weren't interested.
Surprised they even bothered trying to steal a M3 as Tesla's comms are so good theives can't disable the link to Tesla, hence theft rates are extremely low on them.
probably an empty tank, just in case, make a fuel pump cutoff with a couple GPS trackers, that should do the trick, if not, just empty the fuel tank and remove spark plugs, just so the car would be immovable.

I moved from London to Dubai a few years back and I feel like the lifetime of streetsmarts I've built up is slowly fading away. People leave their homes unlocked, keys in their super cars and more. The safety really makes London feel third world.
No, the thieves should. These cars aren’t stolen in Dubai or Saudi, because if they are, the thieves are locked up for a long time. Holding the car manufacturers responsible is such a left wing way of looking at the problem. It’s like saying the thieves couldn’t possibly be to blame because it’s so easy!
The networks in our vehicles were largely designed in the 1980's and network security wasn't really considered....unfortunately this network is also shared by most industrial equipment in use today, anything from big earth movers, our power grid to motors in a factory. People have no idea how easily our delicate society could be destroyed by evil doers or nation states....it's extremely scary actually 😢
I am absolutely loving these exposed videos Mark. Props to you for having the guts to speak out about these issues just like the previous Porsche one. Looking forward to hearing more about the undercover world.
It goes beyond that though. My Subaru has a physical key to turn the engine on, but I think watching this video it would still be easy. There is still a button on the key to unlock the car remotely.
A custom foam cushion seat cover with a bunch of tacks hidden under the cover. Simply lay on driver seat strapped down . I actually got one with this. The amount of blood was awesome.
It’s worse here in the US. Even when they get caught they don’t get in trouble and can steal cars again sometimes in the same day. They even assault and point weapons at people but still don’t get punished. But if you try to stop them and lay one finger on them you get in way more trouble than them.
I respect the lengths you went to for making this video from contacting different companies such as jlr, police etc and to exploring insurance quotes etc. really enjoyed it and its a bwautiful message you gave at the end that a car is really just a car and aint worth your or your families life. Sadly i think some of these theives are ex mechanics due to the pure skill and knowledge they have 💯💯💯
When your car goes into negative equity whilst on finance, claiming insurance is the only way forward. Hence lots are 'stolen' or more accurately 'go missing' . They turn up overseas often where insurance companies cannot officially reach them. After a couple of years the very same exporters offer to sell the same vehicle to the insurers for a vastly reduced sum. The theory being at least they get some money back.... then the car is clean again and can legally return home and be sold again. This cycle is as old as the hills.
The best example i saw of that was a man who borrowed £18K to buy a BMW, he was paying back £600 a month over 3 years and once the novelty wore off - he got bored. He drove it a few miles, parked up in a village and left it before reporting it stolen. The fool didn't know that his BMW keys recorded a lot of data including the last few trips and state of controls on the car for the last journey including the time and GPS position when it was parked. He sent the keys off to the insurers, BMW examined them both and the insurance company found the car parked up, asked him a few questions and then called police. He lost his job, his home and went to prison for 18months. His excuse was that he worked on an oil rig, could afford it, but after showing it to people etc he got bored and claimed the garage was ripping him off with the 3 year finance so wanted to stop paying. A lot of people do this, the same as people short of money staging accidents.
You know what's worst? Goverments cant care less of what happens to "the people". Car manufacturers don't spend enough money with former thieves that can actually think and help on defeating this.
The issue with the AirTag is that people can play sounds through them even if they don’t own it bc an iPhone would notify them, this is a feature to prevent stalking, meaning they’d find the AirTag and remove it. However you can take the speakers out.
@@breathe_3asy hide it somewhere within certain body panels, as someone who works with collision repair there are loads of spots in many cars that you can put it that almost no criminal could think of (yes said spots the airtag can be retrieved)
I brought a disklok in 1997 and used it ever since. Stopped at least one car going walkabout. No thief is getting past it without it taking them an hour and creating a racket.
For the last 10 years, I've kept my car keys in a metal fridge. Also, by law, car makers must make starting the vehicle possible via ODB-I port - my port has a lock and is also disabled. Stickers are on the windows saying this! Even so, I'm aware my car can still be stolen but I've made it more difficult for thieves - which makes them more likely to target less protected cars
very true and if anyone gives you shit like the classic line .... "if they want it they will have it" tell them to go fu@k themselves lol. fact is most thieves are opportunists and will target the easiest things to steal. So continue with the car security and your car will never be stolen.
Yes, blocking the OBD2 port can stop a lot of thefts. Crazy thing is the thieves just get into the network through other places like a headlight module and other ingenious ideas.
A Pandora immobiliser has a fob that needs to be with the car. If the fob isn’t with the car, the car can be driven for a mile before cutting out. That way then, the car will be ditched and the thieves are unlikely to come back to make you hand the key over.
Don't rely on an Apple air tags... It works via Bluetooth and only works 30 feet away from other iPhones. If you have this expensive of vehicle they have wired in systems. I have one for my truck that costs me $15 a month and wired into the 12 volt power. If power is cut, the on board battery will last months. They also have units about the size of air tags that you periodically charge up and you can place them anywhere. If you get something that transmits live location, you will need to pay something a month for the cell coverage for that unit. I had my truck stolen and the police were at the guys door in 15 min of me finding out it was stolen. Nice part of the tracker is you get their whole driving route recorded so they got him and the second vehicle on every camera he went past on his trip.
Yep, youtubers already showed this, one guy of a car demolish company out a airtag in a car, the car got to antother city in the u.k and then litterly 3 months nothing, and then ping and it was in China😂

Is all software, the legit software will ask for certain information that will check with the ecu and key and even BCM. The hacked software will just overwrite everything with a new code to link it all up.
It's quite simple - Like we used to do on older cars - (pull the coil lead), all there needs to be is a power isolator. OEMS could easily fit one, that disables power to all but essential systems. a 'Big red Key' if you will. with a concealed power switch only you know where is located. Fundamentally if anyone invents a clever entry system, then someone else will be clever and get around it. Turn the power off. Job done.
Some cars handle having their power disconnected better than other's....some don't seem to mind a bit while other's need to be reprogrammed and don't run right until it's done.
Had a car go missing after taking the coil lead off , got it back , bext took the coil off at home....still went missing. Turns out local lads carried a few spares when robbing cars for fun. It stopped after I caught one breaking in, and he got a battering.
the absolutely easiest, and cheapest way to stop car theft. Is to add a hidden manual switch. The switch is wired between the fuse box, and the fuel pump. You can hide it literally anywhere, under the roof lining for example. As long as you switch it off when you leave. That car is not starting. Fact, and you can do it yourself for less than £20. It's a simple fix, to a huge problem, and 100% reversable when you come to sell. I just dont get why people haven't done this in their masses.
My first car in the early 90’s was an Escort RS Turbo that had this switch fitted. Really not a big effort to use but very effective. And it couldn’t be by-passed by clever software or devices. Bring back simplicity!
my advice is = BUY A CHEAP STEERING WHEEL LOCK = $20 - my insurance gives me $25 per year discount ! my turbo subaru has a big red steering wheel lock = it aint going anywhere !
its not just car thefts causing insurance prices to rise. everyone's insurance is going up because people are getting rid of cars/working from home, you have lots of un-insured drivers also putting the squeeze on everyone else.
@@schwuzi AirTags use the radio spectrum, so the farther they are away from metal and the higher they are placed in the car, the better the signal. They do require iPhone(s) to relay the signal.
Apple Air Tags. Great advice Mark but please remember, if you put an apple air tag in your car to use it as a tracker, it will make a sound when you try and locate it, therefore alerting the thieves. Watch the videos on here about removing the internal speaker for that reason and you can still find it using the map location.
So people buy a car for 90k but don't even have 15k in their bank account if something in their life goes wrong? Why would you buy a car that costs 90k in the first place?
This situation is troubling and also highlights a serious issue with dealerships. They charge thousands of dollars to replace and program a lost key, yet we’ve just seen how a universal key can open any car in 30 seconds. The responsibility for stolen vehicles should fall on the dealerships, as they fail to secure their systems properly. It’s unfair for insurance companies to bear the cost, which ultimately leads to higher premiums for everyone. Dealerships must be held accountable for these vulnerabilities.
Try getting past my old “Clifford concept” inmy old girl 🤣🤣 gotta love having a 90’s motor 🤣 but in all seriousness this is outstanding, manufacturers need to take responsibility. Amazing vid again mark 👌🏻
Yet another reason to not buy a JLR car! I’ve had so many issues with mine (literally driving home from the showroom!) I’ve talked four of my friends out of buying one. Absolute nightmare!!
1. Never buy an apple air tag, go for a gps(sim one) and hide it. 2. Remove/by pass the OBD port from the car 3. You can make an electric kill switch inside(outside) the car ( but you will loose all the settings in the car everytime you use it ) 4. Pray !
What people need to understand is that due to lack of supply of new vehicles after covid, the market values increased around 70% above normal levels. Some 1 year old cars were selling for over their list price. Now that supply is back to normal values have dropped. They are still around 20-30% higher than they were in 2019.
As a 20-year Firefighter, I love picking looks to mitigate property damage. It's worrying just how easy it is to pick/ hack locks etc. Anyone with motorbikes/ pushbikes etc. Use Ingersoll locks.
They are just the ones you do not know how to pick! They are no better than other makes. All are very easy to get in to if you watch videos on here. Try LOCKPICKING LAWYER.
21:25 One thing to note about the Apple Air Tags is that they are really easy to find if you have an iPhone. Theres a privacy/anti-stalking feature built into them so that if an AirTag that isn't registered to your iPhone is detected to be within close proximity for X amount of time, you'll get a notification saying so. So the thiefs could very easily just bring an iPhone along with them, see if they get that notification, and then easily find and remove it!
Thanks for the investigation, it's also interesting is it still possible to steal Tesla if all security recommendations applied (like pin to drive, disabling Bluetooth and etc.)?
Putting a physical transmission lock in the car was on TV 20 years ago. A guy had a firm where he added a physical lock to any rear wheel drive car. It was very solid and built into the car. Not one of the clip on tools you see in Halfords that are hammered off in 2 minutes.
I really hope for this kid to recover fast and be the same! He is a fighter and a heart. A character mix between Puyol and Messi when it comes to heart and character! We are with you Gavi!
I'm not affiliated with them but hearing some good things about 'pandora car alarms' in London which have some great tech packages to help prevent theft of keyless vehicles. For me the Government should force Car manufacturers into increasing the standard of vehicle security from the factory. Van theft is ridiculous & is not keyless entry but takes seconds to gain entry. Simply not good enough. Great content as always!
I had my keyless entry BMW 6 Series stolen a couple of years ago, despite the keys being locked firmly in a Faraday box. It also had its own factory tracker installed as standard, but between the incompetence, and frankly zero interest, if Hampshire Police and BMW's tracker team, I still never saw the car again.
Here is some further thinking. If you do have a factory tracker installed or an air tag and your car is located by the police at the thieves " Cool Down" location or any location after its been stolen. Your insurance provider will automatically "brand" the car as stolen. Thus, when you go to trade in your car you will be penalized on the trade in because no one will want to by your stolen car over a non-stolen unit. The dealership will hit you with a massive reduction on your trade in value. If your car gets stolen DONT try anything to get it back. Your better off negotiating with your insurance provider to cash you out. Remember NEVER take the insurance provider's first offer.

Range Rover is embarrassing … I had one and they are awful!

Keyless entry solved a problem no one ever had
This drives me nuts. Such a pointless feature that really has no benefit.
And almost every car has it, even luxury ones, they will make you pay for Apple Music or Android CarPlay, but they'll give you keyless entry.

Most RR owners wont be mechanically minded but you can remove OBD port, remove 2 pins, put OBD reader back in place and thieves won’t be able to code new keys. Just don’t forget to put pins back in OBD port when you need to use it for diagnostics.
You can also remove the obd port and hide it somewhere else and fit a dummy port in its place so they're trying to connect via the dummy one.
Same problem with thiefs possibly entering your house or damaging your car out of frustration
@@sneekeruk yes, but everyone knows about OBD dummies and will start looking for the proper port. When you remove the 2 pins, there is still power to OBD port, but it’s disconnected from gateway and BCM modules so they can’t write a new key.

Haha, UK's senior police officers and ministers are all corrupt and paid to _allow_ this to happen. They don't care one bit about the tragedies, costs, dangers to the citizenship. They care about getting their career path secured and getting handsomely paid by corrupt politicians and foreign actors.
What would that achieve?
The cops have known about it for years, there's nothing they can do cos they don't make the cars.
It would put pressure on them to actually check shipping containers. Or provide community advice to people on how to secure cars on driveways. Anything other than complete inaction and providing a crime number for insurance,@@itsjoycey1567

In my own opinion the government allows it to happen.
ah dude they’re awesome cars sorry to hear
I take it you dont mean an Austin A35, they could be started with a screwdriver like most cars in those days.

Now you'll see vehicle owners walking around without any fingers.

One of the passengers on the back of the bikes had on a half helmet. I recognised him as one of the young men whom serviced my bike at the bike shop. The irony. In what way?
Keyless Ford Fiestas are very vulnerable also. Multiple different ways thieves go after them. Relay theft, boot latch, OBD hack.
Your best options are a Disklok + Wheel clamp or an immobilizer. Hiding your OBD port, (and pulling out it's fuse) will also force a thief to set off the thatcham if they try that route.
Manufacturers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves that they are producing such vulnerable cars and passing on the cost to the owner when their car gets stolen. Utterly disgraceful!

Pulling the fuel pump fuse or relay out will do that. You'll get a few minutes of engine running off the pressure in the fuel line.

A lot of people do this, the same as people short of money staging accidents.
just a question about the apple airtag. what happens if the thief has an iphone?
You know what's worst?
Goverments cant care less of what happens to "the people".
Car manufacturers don't spend enough money with former thieves that can actually think and help on defeating this.
The issue with the AirTag is that people can play sounds through them even if they don’t own it bc an iPhone would notify them, this is a feature to prevent stalking, meaning they’d find the AirTag and remove it. However you can take the speakers out.
Yes!! Speakers out!
The thieves will get notified that an Airtag is following them, which might make them ditch the car and go for something else.
very easy to disable the speaker
so the thieves will gut the car inside out trying to search for the airtag thats had it speakers disabled - gotcha
buy a samsung smarttag instead
@@breathe_3asy hide it somewhere within certain body panels, as someone who works with collision repair there are loads of spots in many cars that you can put it that almost no criminal could think of (yes said spots the airtag can be retrieved)
I brought a disklok in 1997 and used it ever since. Stopped at least one car going walkabout. No thief is getting past it without it taking them an hour and creating a racket.
This guy should have a million subs. Top work Marc! My favorite channel for the moment.
Well I think he should have 5 subs, what’s the difference 😂
For the last 10 years, I've kept my car keys in a metal fridge.
Also, by law, car makers must make starting the vehicle possible via ODB-I port - my port has a lock and is also disabled. Stickers are on the windows saying this!
Even so, I'm aware my car can still be stolen but I've made it more difficult for thieves - which makes them more likely to target less protected cars
I have a dummy obd port on mine
@@markyruss and I have a dummy sitting behind the steering wheel! 🤣
very true and if anyone gives you shit like the classic line ....
@@iam1smiley1 do they really my god - I can't understand why people aren't putting a Clifford alarm with a ghost.
A Pandora immobiliser has a fob that needs to be with the car. If the fob isn’t with the car, the car can be driven for a mile before cutting out. That way then, the car will be ditched and the thieves are unlikely to come back to make you hand the key over.
One of the most shocking things in this video is that there are so many people driving a £90k motor who can't lay their hands on £15k.
And can’t afford maintenance
Finance really does have some middleclass people becoming poor whilst trying to look rich
A lot of people can afford it, but can’t justify it… there’s a big difference
I can't imagine spending any money on these overpriced, oversized, unreliable ugly things
People going broke to look rich is nothing new. I normally assume Range Rover drivers are quite poor (or at least they're about to be).
Yep, youtubers already showed this, one guy of a car demolish company out a airtag in a car, the car got to antother city in the u.k and then litterly 3 months nothing, and then ping and it was in China😂
mine worked got my car back 20 mins after
best way to stop your car being stolen is just remove the starter motor when its parked at home 👍
Best car alarm was in The Spy who Loved me. Bad guys broke the window and the car blew up. Expensive on cars, but removes car thieves a couple at a time :)
That was For Your Eyes Only!
Mark - take the thief guy to a SVR that has the update and see what happens-
Its a tech update so easily by passed
@@AMG63 so it fixed nothing??
@@davidsorensen7438 it did for a few days until the code was cracked , then its all shared over the dark web and within a few weeks every single car theif has it to use
@@davidsorensen7438 have you seen what a flipper zero can do ? And thats available on amazon..its ridiculous the amount of hacking equipment is available to the public.
If he doesn’t need the key to nick it he probably doesn’t care about a software update
Big thanks for this! My dad's just had his velar in for the update. Took them 20 min. But he only found out about the update. Because I watched this video. Massive thanks!
i had an evoque on order for 9 months.. 2 days before delivery i found out i couldn’t get insurance so i cancelled my order. really disappointed they never told me about this issue
I love how they can start the car via the obd port while i can't get a new clock working via the obd port
Is all software, the legit software will ask for certain information that will check with the ecu and key and even BCM. The hacked software will just overwrite everything with a new code to link it all up.
This guy trying to make me act like I should cry for Range Rover owners 😂😂😂
It's quite simple - Like we used to do on older cars - (pull the coil lead), all there needs to be is a power isolator. OEMS could easily fit one, that disables power to all but essential systems. a 'Big red Key' if you will. with a concealed power switch only you know where is located. Fundamentally if anyone invents a clever entry system, then someone else will be clever and get around it. Turn the power off. Job done.
If OEMs do it, then there is documentation about it that theves can look up. You allways need to have custom disable system.
I did that to my Fiesta XR2i in 1989.👍
I use to do this on my cars years ago 👍🏼
I had a manual 4x4 with a battery shutoff switch.
After 3 robbery attempts they only took the stereo 👍
Not hard to find and seen plenty burst in flames on motorway sp its a ridiculous idea
my advice is = BUY A CHEAP STEERING WHEEL LOCK = $20 - my insurance gives me $25 per year discount ! my turbo subaru has a big red steering wheel lock = it aint going anywhere !
I don't know how you sat next to this thief without bashing him. You're a good one Mark, thank you for showing us this terrible process.
This video just gives a lot of people new ideas
its not just car thefts causing insurance prices to rise. everyone's insurance is going up because people are getting rid of cars/working from home, you have lots of un-insured drivers also putting the squeeze on everyone else.
One must understand the true limitations of an AirTag and the platform that supports it. I would not trust an AirTag for your Porsche.
these thieves all use android lol
It won't hurt to have it. 25 quid and just drop it into the cooling vent or something 😂 No way anybody is getting that out of there.
@@schwuzi AirTags use the radio spectrum, so the farther they are away from metal and the higher they are placed in the car, the better the signal. They do require iPhone(s) to relay the signal.
I'm so fed up with these thieves! Especially with the police.
Same reason why people lose all their money on gambling...
if you have large sums of money just sat in a bank account, you're wasting money. put it in a high yield savings account. bam
Thanks for exposing this 5 years after everyone has figured it out already
This situation is troubling and also highlights a serious issue with dealerships. They charge thousands of dollars to replace and program a lost key, yet we’ve just seen how a universal key can open any car in 30 seconds.
The responsibility for stolen vehicles should fall on the dealerships, as they fail to secure their systems properly. It’s unfair for insurance companies to bear the cost, which ultimately leads to higher premiums for everyone. Dealerships must be held accountable for these vulnerabilities.
Why steal a Range Rover? Chances are it will break down before you get to the end of the road you stole it from.
Lol
So there's a career called "Professional Thief" amazing...
Yes it’s official title is called politician
Try getting past my old “Clifford concept” inmy old girl 🤣🤣 gotta love having a 90’s motor 🤣 but in all seriousness this is outstanding, manufacturers need to take responsibility. Amazing vid again mark 👌🏻
Bring back the key ……that’s the secret….🤣🤣🤣
yep!
Well that other guy stole it in under 2 mins without the wireless so you really only delay the thieves by a min
Yet another reason to not buy a JLR car! I’ve had so many issues with mine (literally driving home from the showroom!) I’ve talked four of my friends out of buying one. Absolute nightmare!!
1. Never buy an apple air tag, go for a gps(sim one) and hide it.
2. Remove/by pass the OBD port from the car
3. You can make an electric kill switch inside(outside) the car ( but you will loose all the settings in the car everytime you use it )
4. Pray !
police too busy arresting granny’s posting on Facebook
Could he steal a Tesla ?
Yes
Simply no deterrent, slack policing, sentencing and borders, what more could they ask for ?
I really hope for this kid to recover fast and be the same! He is a fighter and a heart. A character mix between Puyol and Messi when it comes to heart and character! We are with you Gavi!
Congratulations your back Wishing your company every success. Xx
They use a key to get in, then plug a box in and start the car. It is as fast as you can get in and put your seat belt on.
