After I exposed an online car scam and posed a video about it, the scammer has now threatened me and my family so I confronted him.

Mark, that last email he wrote that he claims was "In the morning after a night of partying", please check the timestamp. If this timestamp doesn't match "morning hours" for a US citizen then maybe fake ken is not from US. It could be a clue.
You proved the valid point Mark, scammers are thick, because they are so arrogant they totally expose themselves when they threaten you and that is always their downfall. It's not a Russian accent, not traditional one at least. It's actually quite easy to work out nationality when you have bulk text to go through as grammatical mistakes are very consistent identifiers.

If someone is bogus enough to make the threat, dont discount the idea that they may be able to get to you, even, or especially if you have protection. The nasty ones already have you groomed and can swoop in.

Mark, that's not his IP address from the email headers. That's of the sending mail server, and at 20:08, it's just a random Google server in the rough location, which may or may not be correct if they're using a VPN, which they almost certainly are. You won't get the IP address from the email headers unless a server at his location is being used, which it isn't.

True, although the tracking on the Porsche owners site can give the IP address however if he isn't using a VPN then I'd be amazed.
Great work and brave of you to call him out. I personally think that once you had his number you could have lured him or had him tracked from that. Chances of a coward turning up = 0, but nice work cornering him and the authorities are alert. It is amazing how many scams are running at the moment, as you said, if you cannot see it, touch it and shake someone's hand, walk away. I had to put down a deposit on a car I recently bought and did not breath a sigh of relief until I turned up and saw it and they gave me the keys and said take it for a spin. Old School.

Interesting that he spelled "monetisation" the UK English way. His IP address was a server in Texas sure but his accent and the spelling gives him away. This man is in India, likely working from one of the many scam call centers.
Moral of the story dont fuck with someone with money
money has nothig to do with it fella, all resources he has used are practically free its understanding social engineering and having the resistance to keep going.

IP doesn’t show your exact location. It’s not GPS.
@beautyisontheinside it does when you contact the provider of the ip they can locate you, or atleast trace what your connected to. Unless ofcourse you use a blocker.

UK Police won't touch this with a barge. UK Police don't have jurisdiction to deal with threats from someone abroad. Your better off reporting it to the local Police where the suspect lives in the US.
Call the FBI office in dallas. Have them contact your local police.

The crime crosses state borders so it's best to contact the FBI, they have a particular interest in shutting down domestic US fraud that affects foreign nationals.

not really, hes found an IP in a header, it doesn't help at all really, and you can't find IP info from insta or LinkedIn etc. He'd have to try and match the names of the accounts, but again it give shim nothing, It sounded impressive, the reality is it gets them nowhere.
as a husband, father, grandfather, i understand the way you are thinking and would in all likelyhood be thinking the same...but making contact, as satisfying as it feels, i imagine is just letting him know that things and the authorities are startin g to close in on him and make him go to ground possibly? all the best though and good luck with him.

By the accent, he doesn’t sound American at all. Most likely somewhere in North Eastern Europe, possibly Poland?
The whole "I know where Jayne does groceries" part has to be a clue. I've never met anyone that says "does groceries", at least in the US. 'Buys groceries', 'gets groceries', or 'shops for groceries' would make way more sense to most folks in the US, in my opinion. Is the phrase "does groceries" or "do groceries" common in another part of the world? May not mean much, but good investigators use any little detail like that to get even a millimeter closer to finding the offender. I'll be following this story very closely for sure!
