  • This crunchy and mouth-watering pork appetizer will make you crave more with each bite. Bring it to the next level by serving with the chilli garlic sauce!
    Recipe: Easy Pork Appetizer with Chilli Garlic Sauce
    Ingredients for pork appetizer:
    300g (10.4 oz) of pork loin
    60ml (¼ cup) of white rum
    1 ½ tablespoons of granulated sugar
    5 tablespoons of tapioca starch
    ¼ teaspoon of salt
    Light olive oil for frying
    Ingredients for chilli garlic sauce:
    120ml (½ cup) of room temperature water
    1 tablespoon of parsley, chopped
    2 tablespoons of white vinegar
    1 garlic clove, grated
    ½ tablespoon of brown sugar
    ½ teaspoon of salt
    1 green chilli, finely chopped
    Instructions:
    1. Cut the pork into thin slices, cut off as much fat as possible.
    2. Transfer the pork slices to a bowl. Add sugar and rum and mix well. Add the tapioca starch gradually and mix until combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge overnight for roughly 10 to 12 hours.
    3. The next day, take the pork out of the refrigerator, remove the plastic wrap and give a quick stir. Bring the meat to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
    4. Meanwhile, add all the chilli garlic sauce ingredients to a bowl. Stir the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
    5. On medium-high heat, heat some oil. When the oil is hot, fry the pork in batches for 7 to 7 ½ minutes, flip over halfway. Cover the pot while frying to prevent oil splatter. Place the pork on paper towel to remove excess oil.
    6. Serve immediately with the chilli garlic sauce. Enjoy!
    Notes/Tips:
    - Any other vegetable oil can be used for frying.
    - Brown sugar can be used instead of granulated sugar.
    - To reduce splatter, add some coarse salt to the oil while frying.
    - I used Bacardi white rum for this recipe, any other white rum will work.
