I mean if you stay in a cave, and stay unseen, you could most likely wait out the epidemic. Since they cant drink water, they would die out pretty quickly if they need the live body. If they don't need a live body, then good luck.
Dang Chewbacca how the family and most importantly hru
You forget the part they can lay dormant to conserve energy we only see them hollow out just flesh and bones maybe the only organs that are intact is the brain and eyes
I dont think its gonna die from lack of water lol. The infected can take on so much punishment. Also the fact that the organ systen completely liquefied in the matter of minutes shows this aint no normal infection.
I don’t know man like they made sure to contaminate the water so even if you did wait it out it would be very bad if all your waters was gone
@@thurmanstevenson5692 you could collect uncontaminated rain water

what's scary is both dinos are herbivores and gives more a level of fear seeing those things that would eat plants and only fight when necessary become violent beast taking chunks of their own kind
Like the zombie deer eating the wolves in that game trailer
An angry sauropod would be significantly more terrifying than a Trex
@@joelrobinson5457 Deer have been known to eat meat occasionally. It's if then need certain nutrients they lack. Same with most herbivores.
@@supremecaffeine2633 yeah but I mean in a game trailer they framed it via a hunter stalking an animal, then as the approach they see the wolf, or most of it, dead on its side being eaten by a visably undead and rotten deer
You know herbivores can attack unprovoked right? They're not always peaceful creatures
I always got the impression that it was like the cabin fever virus, and the madness was caused by either unbearable maddening pain as your body literally sloughed off itself or by brain rot.
It has to be alien or magical in nature. Nothing can make a reptile move without organs, that's biologicaly impossible at least in earth. So It's either as alien as a venom symbiote or It's just magic like in Warcraft or Warhammer Fantasy. Still, I would love to see Roanoke Gaming trying to explain this one.
@@bigbangrafa8435luckily this isn't a reptile

@@bigbangrafa8435some have stated a theory. This is aku b/c of the dark goo and how its gendy lol.
@@Its_Me_Romano yes it is
I always got the impression the Plague of Madness could only infect one host at a time, given its astronomically fast infection speed and the fact that in the storyboards, it's said that the original infection died with the host once it passed itself on to another victim. Additionally, a real infection similar to the Primal Plague in some respects was discovered in a sauropod's bones. The 85-million year old saltasaurid, a close relative to Argentinosaurus, was discovered in Brazil and described in 2020, appears to have to have been infected by what seem to be bloodworms, which caused osteomyelitis. The symptoms of osteomyelitis are equally as gruesome, but do not result in mad rampaging, but rather a slow, agonizing death if not treated.
Yeah, the sauropod genus was named Ibirania I think.
Yeah, you kinda get the impression there might be a demonic component. Wouldn't be out of the question for this series.
GREAT! MAGIC ZOMBIE DINOSAURS!

It needing to destroy the spine makes them pretty resilient. There’s no way you could outran them and kill them before the others swarm you. But yeah I’m dead meat.

Show is great but this episode was really outstanding if I think about Primal this episode is the first thing that comes to mind.
Interesting note, given bow these things acted, and we never saw more than one infected at one time, theress no guarantee the infected wouldn't tear each other apart as eagerly as non infected
I'm of the theory that the plauge is magical in nature, seeing as the way the hosts react when the body dies and can only control one host at a time
There is no proof that it can only infect one creature. The other sauropods simply got killed so the infection couldn't take hold as this isn't a zombie virus but seems to be a plague
The plague of madness always makes me think that it's rabies
You most know lordofshades
What is your hypothesis based upon?
@@Tyranid_Hive_Mind maybe an early extinct version of rabies or rabies-like.
Honestly, the most dangerous thing about infections/ viruses are the people themselves. There's always going to be a group of idiots who will take advantage of these situations and ruin everyone elses day, and a few who would seek out others to infect or destroy their chances of survival just to be petty. We always have to be on the lookout for these types and deal with them accordingly.

An absolute terrifying episode, great way to get the fear of the undead back into ya
Also I felt so bad for the poor thing :(
This definitely feels like a creepypasta Lost Episode.
@@growlie2676Not really, Primal is already gorey and violent so this episode fits in unlike lost episode creepypastas that try way too hard to be dark and edgy
Its crazy to say, but it was very lucky the virus infected a dino so big. It was way too easy for it to just outright kill its victims instead of infecting them. If it got to a more moderate size dino l, like the size of Fang, it would've spread like wild fire.
You mean like the parasaur in the start? Maybe the sauropod wasn't it's first victim 😮
@@Its_Me_Romano pretty likely it did not just came from parasaur
Like the parasuar
The infection was moving at thousands of miles an hour to affect such a large animal in seconds.
If somehow a compy (lil raptor like dino around a cats size) got bit it would be over
the plague of madness was supernatural parasitical curse that could only affect one host at a time, but that doesn't make the carnage unleashed by this affliction any less horrific.
If you’re looking for one of the few dangerous *slow* zombie apocalypses which could work for a WYWS, try doing the Zombie Army Trilogy, the occult mechanics are really neat.

I wish we could have seen more of the Plague of Madness, I loved the episode it was shown in.
Same that was scary seeing an undead dinosaur what made it even more scary is how it survived in lava
@@anthonygarland8839it was infected not dead
Anyway this virus is so OP it would infect the entire planet so it makes sense that we don't
@@Its_Me_Romano when got in the lava it was cooked literally I mean at that point the dino was dead at that point once it got in lava
@@anthonygarland8839 without feeling pain and the hellacious urges and ravages of the infection it just looked that way.
You also got to think of the water too! That Dino was puking it's own blood in the river, which means some unlucking animal drinking river water down the river could easily be infected.
That’s what I thought too, it’s too bad they never did anything more with this idea, honestly I’d have rather seen surviving the zombie dinosaurs over the 3 part boat thing in season 2 😂
Yep
I think that was actually a pond or lake rather than a river as it doesn't look like the water is going anywhere
That scene was just disgusting for me to see.
I think animals would avoid the water, kind of like how they avoided the corpses of the Argentinos, unless animals tried to eat the dinosaurs but the infected one killed them before they got close.
I feel like this one is less of a plague and more of a curse that can be transferred upon bite, which is what made it so deadly. A magical curse that seeks to infect the strongest things to wreak havoc. Although, I feel like this means there can only be one at a time.
I’ve seen a lot of disturbing zombies from different genres but for some reason this just grosses me out more so than other zombie animals. It’s an awesome interpretation
I feel bad for the dinosaur at 3:32 bc she looked so proud and happy at the eggs
Well, womp womp!!!
This episode had more terror in it than most recent zombie movies
I wish there were more shows like primal and og samurai jack with little talking, convaying a story through action and facial expressions has always been memorizing to me.
I think the Plague of Madness is more of a curse. Notice how even though some of the other sauropods got bitten, they didnt turn. I think it can only infect one individual at a time.
Youll notice that at the beginning of the chase, the sauropod is merely trying to kill them, but as it gets closer and closer to rotting away, it becomes more desperate to bite Spear and Fang.
This was such a good show and how fantastic the visual storytelling is makes each episode so epic.
The jump scene change between first bite and full infection made this seem like a change that took place over days rather than seconds. Simply an artistic time lapse used.
Ive seen quite a few people talk about this episode and none of them seem to realise there's a timeskip of unknown length between the sauropod being bitten and displaying the symptoms. It's even accompanied by a motif. In reality it could have been days since the infection

Seeing how that undead dinosaur survived in the lava was terrifying
YES!!! This was my favorite episode of S1 Primal (besides Coven of the Damned) and the episode that got me into the series! So glad to see you cover this! It was such a tragic episode, Genndy himself said that the sauropod was just an unfortunate victim in complete agony.
2:54 the southerners body rejected the unsweetened tea
The virus is very interesting, instead of using the brain as the control source like you normally see with zombies it seems to use the bones or most likely the spine as the control source. That would really confuse people when head shots not killing zombies of this virus. Would make an interesting movie with a similar virus .
Listen to your self your saying a shot to the head the thing that is connected to the spine wouldn’t kill it because it controls the spine
@@brandonwashington604 the spine actually controls some of our functions, the virus would hijack the body through the spine and act like a replacement for the brain. There are some interesting studies about the spine you should read up on them
This is based on something real, a very old bone parasite was discovered on the fossil excavations of a dinosaur.
This virus definitely has a lot of supernatural vibes - But it's definitely not confirmed either way.
The fact fhat the plague doesn't really make sense is a lot of what makes it scary.
It's also noteworthy that while the plague apparently enhances the infected's strenghth, there seems to be a clear upper limit: The Parasaurus was unable to bite through the Argent's hide, and it was actually the Argent shaking it off that caused the injury.
Easy just ignore the natural stops on our strength so that eventually the muscle tear off the bone.
When I first saw this episode, and the larger dinosaur roared for the first time with it's tongue flailing around and the bile flinging all over the place, that disturbed me for some reason. Not just that, but it disturbed me way more than I thought something like that would. This might be my favorite episode of Primal. Keep up the good work!
And what is crazy is that only herbivores were the victims, not the carnivores. This episode shows how vicious herbivores truly are.
The Argentinosaurus getting infected is literally the worst case scenario because it’s the biggest land animal to exist. We’re talking about a creature that is 130ft long and weighs 80 tons. In a urban environment it would be smashing through buildings like a kaiju crushing people into red paste beneath its feet. The rampage would only stop once the National Guard destroy the neck with a javelin round.
This is what happens when the scientists from resident evil and Jurassic Park got really high together and started brainstorming ideas
Man. A zombie dinosaur would be a nightmare. Imagine a infected pterodactyl....
Also, I wonder which is more dangerous, This "Plague of Madness" or The "Cross" Virus?
The "Cross" Virus from the comics series Crossed is dangerous contagion virus that causes its victims to carry out their most evil thoughts. Carriers of the virus are generally known as the "Crossed" due to a large, cross-like rash that appears on their faces - other names include "cross-faces" and "plus-faces". This contagion is primarily spread through bodily fluids, which the Crossed have used to great effect by treating their weapons with their fluids, as well as through other forms of direct fluidic contact such as rape and bites, assuming the victim lives long enough to turn. A major difference between the Crossed and other fictional zombie or insanity-virus epidemics (e.g., in the film 28 Days Later) is that while the Crossed are turned into homicidal violent psychopaths, they still retain a basic human-level of intelligence: thus, they are still capable of using tools and weapons, driving motor vehicles, setting complex traps, and other actions. It is occasionally noted in the series that a Crossed retains any skills they had prior to their infection; most simply lack the patience or sanity to do anything not immediately related to their vicious impulses.
It also increases all of the natural abilities of it like just think it allows Argentinosaurs to jump which is freaking terrifying
I remember when this episode come out I couldn’t sleep for weeks. It has scared me for life. Even now years later I still get creeped out by it but it isn’t as bad.
Zombie Dinosaurs, that's terrifying.
Now Imagine a Zombie Virus spread throughout the Galaxy AKA Zombie Aliens.
Not zombie aliens but there’s comics of a zombie virus in the galaxy. It’s a Star Wars comic series so significantly more scary considering how strong character’s in starwars are
@@Mushess The Deathtroopers comic?, yeah good comic
Dead Space was a good one
This episode was the only time I ever seen fang and spear truly afraid. Especially when it woke up behind them
This was the most horrific episode of primal ngl. Also the way you describe it surviving high temperatures, brutality, high tenacity, only needing its spine intact makes me think of the titans from the anime attack on titan.
“Why you wouldn’t survive primal plague madness.” Bruh this show has super dinosaurs running fades 24/7,That alone means we wouldn’t survive period.
Seeing the body rapidly deteriorated, even after fang and spear encountered the infected, the plague does not regenerate the host by any means, it doesn't even seem to eat or drink, so provided you can avoid its attacks it's a matter of time before it collapses I think
i loved the innocent dinosaur turning into zombie, like a representation of a good a person becomes hungry flesh eating mindless zombie like george a romero if romero was still alive he would love primal
Pretty sure the plague of madness is magical in nature.. we only see zombies in this one episode, but the following 2-3 show case story elements that tie to the plague
So when do the space vampires arrive?
I feel so fucking bad for that because dude you can tell it's in pain where its fucking crying but it can't do shit because it is quite literally melting away and it's not in control
How did this not happen in a Dino Crisis game or a Resident Evil is kinda odd it almost feels like it is begging to happen
In all fairness, one of the bosses in resident evil 6 mutates into a sorta like flesh t-Rex.
This infection is unbelievably virulent and destructive.
I think, plague of madness wouldn't spread as fast and effecive as you said, we only know that it is transmitted by a non-fatal bite, as we saw infected goes always for kill, and don't even always try to bite. There always theory that this some magical/paranormal disease which spreay only after previese host dies. Still with how agressive infected are, madness would compensate it with the number of kills per infected person
I love watch your videos Zack cause I just know you're gonna do quality an then here comes Roanoke with a complete breakdown of the exact issue at hand
This is my FAVORITE SHOW I watch on repeat and this episode was actually scary to imagine!

There seems to be, one major downside of the plague of madness it is that the infected would have to have a biteforce strong enough to make a bad wound but which also doesn't kill the victim soooo the downside in short is the spreadabbility

This episode and the visuals made me more uncomfortable than any horror style media in a long time. Dunno what it was exactly but it left an impact on me for sure lol.

Because sauropoda are often portrayed as gentle giants in media. So you feel bad and unused to one trying to kill everything in its path unwillingly
Honestly yeah that's a good point, I definitely felt bad for the poor thing watching that unfold.
The reason it probably creeps you out so much is because the visual style of the show is often associated with child cartoons. Something we watch at a very young age, something fun and comforting. Since this episode is meant to be scary it feels familiar in a weird way.
The series is goated
Sounds a little bit like the anti life zombie virus in DC comics' D-Ceased series. zombie justice league is fucking terrifying. also that insect fungus disease, a variant of it regularly attacks the flies in my apartment. Primal did a great job reminding us of how cruel nature can be in this episode.
I also want to pitch the idea of why you wouldn't survive Ultrakill's Final War.
Humans are cruel, Nature is harsh.
Actually while rabies is a virus, flesh eating fasciitis is bacterial in nature. Flesh eating fasciitis seems closer than rabies symptoms wise though that fails to explain the behavioral changes or how it keeps the body animate until the central nervous system is destroyed. This level of complexity and uniqueness compared to everything else begs the question of if something like this could be of less than natural origin. The fungal origin theory makes sense to me at least.
