The author of this specific message says they saw the worms moving in their eyes and that they were taking them on one last supply run. Holly can actually say "God I hate the noise they make when they get pulled out" likely suggesting it is different for each individual
I think there’s a difference yeah. Maybe like in fully immune hosts, which our playable characters are stated to be, the worm gets in, but does nothing, in fact, idles around, not reproducing, not moving far from their injection points. From there, they’re easy to pull out. But the whole of the resistance isn’t all immune. That’d be near impossible. So these who are written infected, they probably weren’t immune. Probably stayed inside their safe zones, until the Ridden broke in, as the start of the video states.

I’m glad this game really went all in with the body horror designs. Seeing the human faces and limbs sticking out of the special infected just adds to the feeling of terror.

The idea of your character being damaged just by being CLOSE to an strong fire source is pretty realistic and dangerous. More games in general should give that a shot.
The song they chose for the reveal trailer makes *so much* sense now. "You've got the devil inside you, set the church on fire!" The song is a banger to listen to. I can't wait to see what this game will become in the future looking forward.
If only they used it for the Jukebox... would have been WAY better than one of the songs that are used for it that you HAVE to listen to because its a defense/distraction sequence.

This does look like a hard one. i think chemicals weapons would be a most have. So, it would be mostly coming down to if you can find a bio chemist, and chemicals. As he said in the video, the worm could adept to the gas you're using. This is why a bio chemist would be a most have. I don't think a chemist could do it, as they don't know biology enough to fight adaptions. Though, the problems with this is you need to protect yourself from the gas; you would need to source pure elements, or be able to purify things into elements; at last you would need a bio chemist.

33:33 actually, the dying light protagonist is not immune. He fights for medication to stop the infection. (He even turns into a InFEctEd on the canonical ending of the dlc and escapes quarentene making the virus spread more and creating dying light 2)
With the release of DL2 its proven that crane DID NOT infect anyone else and the intro into the game saying “Harran. An entire city wiped off the map.” Proves that crane either did not turn and nuked the city in The Following DLC as a secret ending or the GRE firebombed the entire city having disregard for cure research later on as they could make another. The event known as “The Fall of 2022” was a major thing that happened when the GRE still had strains of the THV (The Harran Virus) and the mutated strains ended up escaping laboratories making it spread more rapidly and causing it to be more deadly. Humanity, years later, survived but in very very small remnants proving this virus was more dangerous than original strains.
I think there’s actually a *second* connotation to ridden as well; being possessed. Being “ridden by the devil” basically, though only metaphorically as the devil in this case is more of a malicious extraterrestrial hive mind than a supernatural entity per se.
Realistically, killing an common Ridden at any range makes as much sense as a Colonial Marine shooting a Xenomorph point blank. You are helping the worms spread even faster by doing this. This is probably why attempts to contain them early on failed so drastically.
In my head canon the sleepers are just survivors that a "stinger" type ridden kidnaped, dragged off and stuck to the wall. That survivor had no friends come back and rescue them from the wall and pull the worms out so they died... And being stuck to the wall with an emaciated body with little biomass... used the hosts legs to turn into the retention / catapult system that they use.
Man, I remember my first encounter with the Hag. Me and my friend heard the "[Hag Intro]" and started looking around then I saw a silhouette that was very jerky and moving quickly; I impulsively shot it and I started running for my life. God, the hag is a lot faster than how it was shown in the trailers. I just found it funny though how despite provoking the Hag, it ran up to me and gave me a bitch slap and then burrowed away.
Same thing happened with me. Was chilling with my friend and saw a silhouette in the fog attacking one of our teammates. That shit is fucking terrifying
A few months ago i actually had an idea for a zombie archetype. Known as the buzzer, the idea is a colony of venomous wasps have burrowed into a dormant zombies torso and made a hive inside. The sign one is nearby is the buzzing of the wasps. As it shambles towards humans, wasps will fly out and sting the humans, leading to blurred vision. If you kill the zombie with a shotgun or explosives, the torso bursts open, leading to an angry swarm flying at you.
When you mentioned Toxoplasma gondii(in italics), I felt excited because ot was one of the specimens we had to observe in my Parasitology class. I’m a bio student majoring in zoology so if I see a semblance of significance to the things I study, I feel happy.
What about the strange cocoons when players "Die" ? There is a mission where normal, seemingly non-immune people are trapped in these biomass cocoons. What kind of purpose would those serve? Maybe keeping the more resistant against the worms infection in one place for more worms to infest them later?
Most likely to let them die so that their biomasses can be used later on. After all, anyone who is not ridden by that point of the game should be either immune, or a total badass.
@@Someone-lg6di It is. Dialogue between Doc and Mom talks about it. Goes further, saying that Mom’s immunity isn’t the immunity everyone else has. The worms avoid her because she’s ether old, or she’s hiding a fatal illness from the group (the later being my theory due to the personal offense and pain she took from it) So, there are people who don’t get infected. Wether from the genetic immunity, to aging to the point the worms no longer wish for that person as a host (although seeks their death all the same)(Or terminal, permanent illnesses could cause them to ignore) The worms will not work with these certain hosts. The exact source isn’t known, and is impossible to know now, given how few scientists and doctors remain in this apocalypse.
Imagine doing absolute bits during the apocalypse. you survive in your base, you can kill all types of zombies, you are on top of the world. and then Cthulu just decides to pop out of the floor and decimate you.
I am surprised you did not bring this up in why you would not survive? Food The ridden go after animals we can eat to be carriers, infected, or just stripping and contaminating the meat into something humans can't eat. Farms, lakes, and waterways are the center of infections, making most planets that grow near said bodies of water unsuitable or casualties to burning off all the foliage and crops needed to survive. So, unless they make a significant number of green houses to feed them, then the survivors will have limited choices in what to eat once they run out of canned food that has not been infected and destroyed by the ridden. I mean, humans had to resort to cannibalism after being stuck in the middle of nowhere during winter, and this infection is taking away the ability to hunt for food.
That's smart: Deserts have no liquid water, so those worms can't spread there. Additionally, the only water there will be the boiled water you bring in, ensuring its safety. As the rest of the World goes silent, you and the other survivors will grow.
I doubt that the parasites can cross the entire ocean in their host alone though they could very well be semi aquatic. Not sure if they can carry out basic important life functions underwater so it's entirely possible.
@@zeffy._440 that's disregarding the point the made about birds being potential carriers, plus, who's to say the infected, or the worms in general, aren't capable of infiltrating a cargo ship or airplane? The ridden themselves don't have to be present just the worms, and if there's one thing I've learned, the ability to adapt and mutate means there's a lot of other undiscovered (and equally as horrifying) possibilities.
The most frightening part of this zombie game is the fact that the first thing officials do with a new creature is slap it on an open petri dish like batter on a skillet then raise it right to their face, ignoring red flags such as 1. It is a worm. And 2. It has tiny fangs.
There's no way to survive it..heck playing it with other players is sometimes hard. Its literally you and 4 others vs the world and the world got some good cards.

I just realized that if the “top scientific mind” that made the worm react to water had a lid or took precautions like somewhere to put it or NOT putting it so close to him when it obviously didn’t like the water, the ridden infection wouldn’t have happened.
I mean it could have still gotten out look at how the Corona virus started but in any case the military could have known what it was up against before it started

The dude who started this pandemic was probably not a special disease specialist. And also kind of stupid as most scientists would probably not just casually handle something like that. Dead or not Then again there is the Corona *HYPOTHESIS*(or conspiracy as there is no factual evidence released on how covid-19 started(just guesses based on initial outbreak parameters) where a lab was responsible for the break. As well as half of the populations ridiculous response to said virus. In the end we probably would've have ended up like this because humans panic, humans distrust, and humans have to be right. We'd all die anyways

two things about the crows that make me think they are infected is that 1: they are seen eating at the nests and other infected offal left around and 2: the crows have the same/similar glowing eyes as the ridden and specials.

@@WowSuchGaming here's how you can survive an attack by the infected without any immunity or terminal disease you wear armor that is not only made out of something stronger than the biomass accumulated by the ridden but but you also wear something that makes you so or you have armor that is so thick that even if it is less terrible than the biomass that's been made available to the ridden no attacks can reach your meat suit or just stay in a self-sustaining orbital satellite or on a different planet with a self-sustaining ecosystem as long as we didn't make it there you are safe which can be done

I will admit. The game looks amazing. I can't wait to see what weapons, special ridden, and campaigns they will add later on in dlc. (Let's hope a blunderbuss makes it into the game, especially on April fool's day. )
Didn't play this game yet, but my favorite Ridden is definately the Hag. Because, it's an actual nightmare, the design, the way it attack, and just gonna runaway after eating a survivor, so it can digest it peacefully, ugh, it's just scary.
I want to dub this biomass _Devil's Tea_ simply because the biomass is just Devil Worms using their previous meat mechas as teabags in various water sources.

Already got the game, and I am looking forward playing it. It looked pretty damn good so far. It is very interesting how they used Left4Dead special infected and Dead Space Necromorph influences to create new special enemies.
To be fair, it makes much sense that the world was easily overtaken because it's so aggressive. I wish TV shows/movies actually had special variants and different type of zombies like videos games might have. Take The Walking Dead, it's so hard to see the military overthrown by groups of zombies. But in a B4B world? They'd obviously suffer and struggle seeing as there are so many variants, bosses and even ahving the ability to make nests.

because it was so painfully average, undercooked, unfinished and abandoned quick as its entire lifecycle was a mess with dodgy updates, changes and constant missteps, hell the card system and building it up through a run(Act) which made the game deeper and more interesting they cut out half way through and let you start with all cards from the jump made it even more shallow and more average when you look at it as a whole you wont be saying this, i liked it and enjoyed it for what it was but it was a 6/10, i love zombies so thats probably why i enjoyed it as it did nothing special or well

Being made by TurtleRock, and considering their Abomination endgame form, I feel like the worms are an invasive parasitoid (asteroid crater makes that obvious) that would normally compete against creatures like Evolve's rapidly mutating monsters in its own ecosystem, where more things would be immune to it and eat up the worms on sight.

Roanoke usually goes into the biological specifics of things. I don't remember if Wow did any other than the L4D specials or not. I'd be surprised if Roanoke didn't still do some videos for B4B, though, and he's always got his own spin on it =)

38:00 Not to discount the infected crows theory, but crows are so incredibly good at pattern recognition and information sharing that if the ridden never attacked crows, the crows would realise this very quickly and wouldn't pay the ridden any mind. Them flying away from humans would make sense because the remaining survivors would likely be desperate for food and still hunt crows. Or perhaps just the association with gunshot noise would be enough for the crows to fly away at the sight of humans.
New info on Hags: + ONLY relies on Movements and noise (Stay completely still and it'll run off to the dirt.) - It takes +5 minutes for it to lose interest in prey it's hunting for.
I've actually had so much fun playing this with 2 other friends, it's not L4D legendary status, but it's so much fun and sometimes that's all you can really ask for
Doc has some really interesting dialogue about this parasite. Also what u forgot to mention, adding on to her quote of : that parasites like virusses need to mutate to survive, some survivors like Jim will ask Doc if they will keep staying immune to the devil worm despite it mutating and Doc her response is 'Only time will tell'. Makes me think of a crazy corruption card they can add, where you get a infection meter and each hit of a ridden increases the bar, only to reduce the bar by using medical cabinets and First aid kits. And if the infection meter is full, you die. But the ridden can easily hit you, outnumber you and close the distance. I think it be to hard for random teams. Just a idea. :)
"evolve like" yeah the evolve influence is strong with this game and as an evolve fan i'm extremely fine with this. Hell the ogre literally looks like an unused goliath concept with a "ridden" texture and skin over the basic shape while the hag looks like recycled host, wraith, and gorgon concepts. I would even put my money on turtle rock recycling some ideas from their canceled idea "invaders". check that one out (invaders), its legit just a early form of b4b.
Have you ever thought about a "why you wouldn't survive COD Ghosts extinction" episode? I was very fond of the whole carnage of hive like alien horde while your main option to kill them was to just nuke em!
Its not bigger they just added a bunch of flashy cosmetics and useless systems to make it look more busy. Take out everything and leave just the gameplay like l4d and those two are vastly different. It is a shell of a game running off a popular name loaded with kiddy systems like cards and skins to draw in new players.
Hmm I played this game with my homies last night and my appreciation for the game has gone up significantly. I'd give it a 7/10 now. Even on recruit the game is challenging. I love the Hag. Having a flashbang is a must against that thing when it grabs someone. If the Devs buff 35% of the cards that are garbage in my eyes and add a "shove card" that can affect at least 3 enemy's and have a negative stat of "No ADS" to make the game feel more like L4D I'd give the game 8.5/10 if versus mode ever gets better the game would literally be perfect but the DEVs said no to pvp campaign...
The game is great. I legitimately think nothing will please the "gamers" of today. They will always find reasons to be unhappy no matter what and it's sick. It's one thing to call out blatant malpractice like the battlefront lootbox system that ruined a whole series we loved from childhood. And then being mad Back4Blood isn't exactly like LFD. Does anyone not remember when LFD came out? Barely any content and very sub par graphics. Yet it becomes one of the most iconic zombie shooters ever. And then LFD2 came out just a year later and was nothing than a $5 expansion just a few new characters and maps. Yet again we all still love it and happily paid full price for it. If LFD were to come out with the gamers and criticism of now it would be torn apart and called a $10 game sold for $60 graphical trash cash grab. Gamers are so self delusional with their personal feelings of what every game should be like you can't have any new release without it being trashed by everyone.
You know what, I was one of those ppl that was abit "upset" at the changes and like you said that it wasn't like L4D but after watching Roanoke Gaming and Wow Suck Gaming's videos I see that I should be grateful for this game, as opposed to the mediocre games they have coming out recently (not going to name any lol)

This does look like a hard one. i think chemicals weapons would be a most have. So, it would be mostly coming down to if you can find a bio chemist, and chemicals. As he said in the video, the worm could adept to the gas you're using. This is why a bio chemist would be a most have. I don't think a chemist could do it, as they don't know biology enough to fight adaptions. Though, the problems with this is you need to protect yourself from the gas; you would need to source pure elements, or be able to purify things into elements; at last you would need a bio chemist.
Honestly yeah, firebombs would also probably help. Even the few that can becone smouldery bois would be better than an absolute swarm of commons.

With the release of DL2 its proven that crane DID NOT infect anyone else and the intro into the game saying “Harran. An entire city wiped off the map.” Proves that crane either did not turn and nuked the city in The Following DLC as a secret ending or the GRE firebombed the entire city having disregard for cure research later on as they could make another. The event known as “The Fall of 2022” was a major thing that happened when the GRE still had strains of the THV (The Harran Virus) and the mutated strains ended up escaping laboratories making it spread more rapidly and causing it to be more deadly. Humanity, years later, survived but in very very small remnants proving this virus was more dangerous than original strains.

Realistically, killing an common Ridden at any range makes as much sense as a Colonial Marine shooting a Xenomorph point blank.
You are helping the worms spread even faster by doing this. This is probably why attempts to contain them early on failed so drastically.

Man, I remember my first encounter with the Hag. Me and my friend heard the "[Hag Intro]" and started looking around then I saw a silhouette that was very jerky and moving quickly; I impulsively shot it and I started running for my life. God, the hag is a lot faster than how it was shown in the trailers. I just found it funny though how despite provoking the Hag, it ran up to me and gave me a bitch slap and then burrowed away.

A few months ago i actually had an idea for a zombie archetype. Known as the buzzer, the idea is a colony of venomous wasps have burrowed into a dormant zombies torso and made a hive inside. The sign one is nearby is the buzzing of the wasps. As it shambles towards humans, wasps will fly out and sting the humans, leading to blurred vision. If you kill the zombie with a shotgun or explosives, the torso bursts open, leading to an angry swarm flying at you.

When you mentioned Toxoplasma gondii(in italics), I felt excited because ot was one of the specimens we had to observe in my Parasitology class. I’m a bio student majoring in zoology so if I see a semblance of significance to the things I study, I feel happy.
What about the strange cocoons when players "Die" ? There is a mission where normal, seemingly non-immune people are trapped in these biomass cocoons. What kind of purpose would those serve? Maybe keeping the more resistant against the worms infection in one place for more worms to infest them later?
I think they turn into sleepers. Also its never said they r not immune.
Most likely to let them die so that their biomasses can be used later on. After all, anyone who is not ridden by that point of the game should be either immune, or a total badass.

So, there are people who don’t get infected. Wether from the genetic immunity, to aging to the point the worms no longer wish for that person as a host (although seeks their death all the same)(Or terminal, permanent illnesses could cause them to ignore) The worms will not work with these certain hosts.
The exact source isn’t known, and is impossible to know now, given how few scientists and doctors remain in this apocalypse.
Imagine doing absolute bits during the apocalypse. you survive in your base, you can kill all types of zombies, you are on top of the world. and then Cthulu just decides to pop out of the floor and decimate you.

The ridden go after animals we can eat to be carriers, infected, or just stripping and contaminating the meat into something humans can't eat. Farms, lakes, and waterways are the center of infections, making most planets that grow near said bodies of water unsuitable or casualties to burning off all the foliage and crops needed to survive.
So, unless they make a significant number of green houses to feed them, then the survivors will have limited choices in what to eat once they run out of canned food that has not been infected and destroyed by the ridden. I mean, humans had to resort to cannibalism after being stuck in the middle of nowhere during winter, and this infection is taking away the ability to hunt for food.
I can't even survive the T-5 mission on normal, I'll just go hide under a rock in the desert if these parasites actually become a reality.
That's smart: Deserts have no liquid water, so those worms can't spread there. Additionally, the only water there will be the boiled water you bring in, ensuring its safety.
As the rest of the World goes silent, you and the other survivors will grow.

I doubt that the parasites can cross the entire ocean in their host alone though they could very well be semi aquatic. Not sure if they can carry out basic important life functions underwater so it's entirely possible.
@@zeffy._440 that's disregarding the point the made about birds being potential carriers, plus, who's to say the infected, or the worms in general, aren't capable of infiltrating a cargo ship or airplane? The ridden themselves don't have to be present just the worms, and if there's one thing I've learned, the ability to adapt and mutate means there's a lot of other undiscovered (and equally as horrifying) possibilities.

@@WowSuchGaming here's how you can survive an attack by the infected without any immunity or terminal disease you wear armor that is not only made out of something stronger than the biomass accumulated by the ridden but but you also wear something that makes you so or you have armor that is so thick that even if it is less terrible than the biomass that's been made available to the ridden no attacks can reach your meat suit or just stay in a self-sustaining orbital satellite or on a different planet with a self-sustaining ecosystem as long as we didn't make it there you are safe which can be done

Didn't play this game yet, but my favorite Ridden is definately the Hag. Because, it's an actual nightmare, the design, the way it attack, and just gonna runaway after eating a survivor, so it can digest it peacefully, ugh, it's just scary.
I want to dub this biomass _Devil's Tea_ simply because the biomass is just Devil Worms using their previous meat mechas as teabags in various water sources.

It is very interesting how they used Left4Dead special infected and Dead Space Necromorph influences to create new special enemies.
To be fair, it makes much sense that the world was easily overtaken because it's so aggressive. I wish TV shows/movies actually had special variants and different type of zombies like videos games might have. Take The Walking Dead, it's so hard to see the military overthrown by groups of zombies. But in a B4B world? They'd obviously suffer and struggle seeing as there are so many variants, bosses and even ahving the ability to make nests.
I love that The Studio that made this game absolutely destroyed KFC gaming.

I never new why people didn’t like the game, I enjoyed it and still play it
because it was so painfully average, undercooked, unfinished and abandoned quick as
its entire lifecycle was a mess with dodgy updates, changes and constant missteps, hell the card system and building it up through a run(Act) which made the game deeper and more interesting they cut out half way through and let you start with all cards from the jump made it even more shallow and more average
when you look at it as a whole you wont be saying this, i liked it and enjoyed it for what it was but it was a 6/10, i love zombies so thats probably why i enjoyed it as it did nothing special or well

Being made by TurtleRock, and considering their Abomination endgame form, I feel like the worms are an invasive parasitoid (asteroid crater makes that obvious) that would normally compete against creatures like Evolve's rapidly mutating monsters in its own ecosystem, where more things would be immune to it and eat up the worms on sight.

38:00 Not to discount the infected crows theory, but crows are so incredibly good at pattern recognition and information sharing that if the ridden never attacked crows, the crows would realise this very quickly and wouldn't pay the ridden any mind.
Them flying away from humans would make sense because the remaining survivors would likely be desperate for food and still hunt crows. Or perhaps just the association with gunshot noise would be enough for the crows to fly away at the sight of humans.

+ ONLY relies on Movements and noise
(Stay completely still and it'll run off to the dirt.)
- It takes +5 minutes for it to lose interest in prey it's hunting for.
lets also not forget that you wont always be immune because like docs says, it mutates and its probably mutating to over come the immunity
I've actually had so much fun playing this with 2 other friends, it's not L4D legendary status, but it's so much fun and sometimes that's all you can really ask for

Makes me think of a crazy corruption card they can add, where you get a infection meter and each hit of a ridden increases the bar, only to reduce the bar by using medical cabinets and First aid kits. And if the infection meter is full, you die.
But the ridden can easily hit you, outnumber you and close the distance. I think it be to hard for random teams.

"evolve like" yeah the evolve influence is strong with this game and as an evolve fan i'm extremely fine with this. Hell the ogre literally looks like an unused goliath concept with a "ridden" texture and skin over the basic shape while the hag looks like recycled host, wraith, and gorgon concepts. I would even put my money on turtle rock recycling some ideas from their canceled idea "invaders". check that one out (invaders), its legit just a early form of b4b.

Wow, anything can be special that this game is way bigger than Left 4 Dead 2. Nice work!
Its not bigger they just added a bunch of flashy cosmetics and useless systems to make it look more busy. Take out everything and leave just the gameplay like l4d and those two are vastly different. It is a shell of a game running off a popular name loaded with kiddy systems like cards and skins to draw in new players.

Hmm I played this game with my homies last night and my appreciation for the game has gone up significantly. I'd give it a 7/10 now. Even on recruit the game is challenging. I love the Hag. Having a flashbang is a must against that thing when it grabs someone. If the Devs buff 35% of the cards that are garbage in my eyes and add a "shove card" that can affect at least 3 enemy's and have a negative stat of "No ADS" to make the game feel more like L4D I'd give the game 8.5/10 if versus mode ever gets better the game would literally be perfect but the DEVs said no to pvp campaign...

The game is great. I legitimately think nothing will please the "gamers" of today. They will always find reasons to be unhappy no matter what and it's sick. It's one thing to call out blatant malpractice like the battlefront lootbox system that ruined a whole series we loved from childhood. And then being mad Back4Blood isn't exactly like LFD. Does anyone not remember when LFD came out? Barely any content and very sub par graphics. Yet it becomes one of the most iconic zombie shooters ever. And then LFD2 came out just a year later and was nothing than a $5 expansion just a few new characters and maps. Yet again we all still love it and happily paid full price for it. If LFD were to come out with the gamers and criticism of now it would be torn apart and called a $10 game sold for $60 graphical trash cash grab. Gamers are so self delusional with their personal feelings of what every game should be like you can't have any new release without it being trashed by everyone.

You know what, I was one of those ppl that was abit "upset" at the changes and like you said that it wasn't like L4D but after watching Roanoke Gaming and Wow Suck Gaming's videos I see that I should be grateful for this game, as opposed to the mediocre games they have coming out recently (not going to name any lol)
In my opinion this is one of the best game to come out his year. I ply lots of zombie games and these difficulty is insane
