It was actual & legitimate research branch to observe cosmic bodies & predict their movement back in the day in east and ancient times & still is to some extent with local courses over there before the w35tern side post industrial revolution decided to split religion and science in such a way that both became almost mutually exclusive rather than compliment each other.

The biggest problem i have is the lack of oxygen in our atmosphere to support so many titanic monsters. Also, their metabolism would completely run rampant and cause continuous feeding needed. Once that ran out, including them eating each other, if the humans could out last them, the monsters would all die off eventually.
For the oxygen thing. Since they where altered, they could have developed a better respiratory system, able to draws more oxygen from the air than traditional insect lungs.

Also insects and most other land invertebrates basically have veins for lungs but spiders and there relatives have book lungs
Nature abhors a vacuum n gigantism is not unheard of especially with insects without predators bigger and badder than them n hey, they’ve evolving despite the petrochemical pollutions, mosquitoes and flies are doing just fine despite the efforts to exterminate them, just making them tougher

Maybe it depends on the species of crab, and other animals too. Some are hunters and others are scavengers. Plus the mutation might have affected their instincts.

The premise is sick for an open world survival game
There is an open-world giant bug survival game, while it's not about bugs being big. It's about you being small. It's called Grounded
Honestly would prefer a Survival Horror game, something like Resident Evil 2 or 4. Cause characters are part of what make this movie great and you usually don't have alot of that in OW Survival
this sudden growth will also cause bigger need for food in this species, not sustainable.
Population size will decrease but not below minimum viable population I mean there used to be 25 million elephants in Africa 400 years ago the environment could support it with no human activity

@@pedrohenrique-et3fs I know humanity wouldn't stand still if course people will do research and experiments looking for weaknesses but a weakness on one monster may have no effect on another also when the food runs out getting more food will be the priority not research but yeah whether it's this universes monsters or anothers like the walking dead or a quiet place humanity will eventually make a comeback no non sapient creatures could stop that from happening forever no matter how fast, strong, durable, sensitive or any special abilities like bioelectrical shocks and since they're not sapient they wouldn't hunt us to extinction so we would make a comeback but 99%+ of people not making it is more realistic than you'd think when the food runs out, no more farms, no more oil, no more electricity grid, no communication beyond ham radio and no modern medicine shortage of specialists in every settlement (doctors, engineers, generals, scientists)
Large munitions not working is always a pet peeve of mine. 😅

@@DastardlyDavid69well, animals are not some NPC enemy within a game as they are usually written. Many are ambush oriented. Surprise attacks and such. It would be a battle of who attacks first and if the damage done was enough to put either down for good.
Very few predators actually just show and be like, "what you gonna do about it". Many Kaiju size animals would probably ignore us as the effort wouldn't satiate them enough. Becoming more reactionary to threats.
But it's my biggest problem with these monster flicks. The only real insects that will roll up and attack are ants. They have numbers on their side.
An alligator doesn't just stop being an alligator when larger.

Yeah it is bs when they are outright tanking these a cockroach the size of a van would be terrifying and they could even survive a tank hit, but that would be due to being able to survive without head legs and etc add thousands to their numbers and they are already scary enough

What bothers me about things like this is the creators always ignore just how powerful even the average rifle is and what our more powerful weapons are capable of.

I don't think you understand just how futile any of that would be. The amount of cold-blooded animals on the planet outnumber the amount of guns currently in existence 20,000,000,000 (twenty billion) to 1. Not to mention such an event occurring worldwide would be total social collapse and grind production to a halt. Ammo would be a finite resource at best, all the while affected animals would be numerous AND still breeding. The absolute best chance there would be of "stopping" this apocalypse would be literally nuking the ENTIRE PLANET, which, barring the fact that we wouldn't ever have enough nukes or time to pull that off, would certainly wipe us out and I doubt that would even kill off the mutants, considering just how resilient invertebrates are and have been in the 5 past mass extinctions. It's a wonder there are any humans alive at all in that movie.
@@nobodyinparticular3606 the movie is ridiculous in two ways, you are right about the numbers of cold blooded animals, which means if all of them grew earth would just die, everything would die since there would not be enough resources of any kind for such insane biomass. Hell organisms would just be stacked on top of each other and would chocke and be crushed to death. However if only a tiny, absolutely tiny minority muted them yeah the military and armed civilians would kill them all. There is no balance,either there are so many creatures the ecosystem and planet collapses, or there are just enough for a stable population in which case their numbers are low enough to be wiped out.
@DastardlyDavid69 I get the suspension of disbelief. It would be a short film if you do it that way. It's like a zombie movie. If the world was competent, it wouldn't happen. But why in every movie like this, we are incompetent when our species is built from adapting and killing larger, more powerful creatures throughout history.
@nobodyinparticular3606 is it stated that every single creature mutated or only some? Like the other fellow said, they would literally crush each other, especially since some were godzilla sized. They would also suffocate almost instantly due to how our atmosphere is. It couldn't support animals that large.

I reckon ultra high/low frequencies would be a solid defence against most creature. A lot of animals are sensitive that already so if they grew in size by 30 x then they should be even more vulnerable. Either that or a pheromone disruptor of some fashion

6:42 Man O' Wars are similar to Jellyfish, but they are completley different animals. Instead, Man O' War are actually a fusion between multiple creatures. Different parts of the body could mutate in horrible ways in that universe.

The only one you would survive is the predator invasion. All you gotta do is submit and drop your weapon, though a person won’t know that at first the second they see a predator only go for combatants they’ll figure out just to be peaceful.
I get they kinda ruined predator and how they worked with the newer movies but originally they are a honor bound warrior race. They won’t kill stuff that doesn’t fight back

I suppose one upside is if you bunker can hold out long enough, all the plus sized critters aren't going to be long lived as they won't have enough food or have high enough atmospheric oxygen to support such sizes

There is a hard limit to how large insects and spiders can get. Their exoskeletons and the way they breathe passively means they won't get kaiju size. Bear size might be possible though. On land at least.

From what I saw I think that probably moving survivors into places like kamchatka, siberia but also european nordic coutries would be places with highest chances of survial as most of population is already adapted to survive harsh climate cold blooded species dislike and probably wouldnt even survived the cold no matter the size. In places like siberia and alaska probably being most suitable for people to survive and rebuild as such places have extremely harsh winters yet very fertile summers, reserves of natural gas and oil, even metals, and one of the main sources of food is fishing. If we would go even further, if some military was preserved, military bases in Russia and Alaska could be still utilized or even completely operational and stocked with weapons.
snakes are also cold blooded... imagine giant pythons and demonic komodo dragons
