    Hey Chris, I love the way you teach this solo! Super easy to follow and with your help I can now play the solo. It's hard to play along with the live version bc it's slightly out of tune.... which I think is probably on purpose. Thankfully I was able to find a Karaoke version that is almost perfect and I can play along with that without having to tune my guitar out of tune. This is truly an epic song and it will help me entertain friends on Zoom during Covid. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it for us!

    "Dat sexy vibrato" made me chuckle.
    Seriously great lesson Chris. I've been mostly a rhythm player but your lessons have given me the courage to actually start playing some lead lines these days!
    I know it's been a while, but could you maybe (re)do a lesson on Zakk Wylde's "Farewell Ballad"? I've been doing a lot of shred-based exercises, but the way you teach solos has made me really conscious of my bending and vibrato a lot more -- I've been trying to play that solo piece for a while and Zakk's vibrato technique is a bit tricky to emulate.

    This is a very silly question - but how long do you all take to learn a solo like this? If you are intermediate player and beginner level?

    • @kevinbrown9751
      @kevinbrown9751 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even a beginner can learn this quite easily. It's pretty much a matter of 'play slow, play correct' although you will make some mistakes, try to keep them down so you're not adding them to muscle memory. Also, time-box your playing over all and your practice over all. And remember, "when you practice anything, you're practicing everything." So feel free to jump around to scales, rhythms, stuff you already know, etc. and keep your guitar out, at the ready so you can pick it up anytime. And don't forget TH-cam's slow-down feature. And lastly, this is not note for note correct, so just have fun, and your ear will lead the way. Good luck!

    I’m late to this, and only just now getting into the Prince leads, even though I’ve been a massive fan since seeing the Purple Rain tour live in 1985.... But, in tutorials like this, I think it’s quite important to discuss *the tone* itself-getting it to sound like this is a component of the playing. What effects/amp settings were used?
