My darling Habiba, thankyou so much for the invitation. It reminded me so much of what my grandmother taught me so many, many years ago. My dear grandmother died in 1950 and I truly did and do miss her. She was truly a gem! She had a young ladies group in her church while she tutored in manners, etc. I was highly favored to watch, listen, participate and learn. Now at 76 years old, I've never forgotten (my mother further enhanced by teaching me, and sending me on to etiquette classes). It is so sweet and endearing to teach and expose your children to the things of value to their youthful lives. I've done the same with my son. Indeed, you do bring tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart when you share these moments. I thankyou and your family with all my heart.🤎

Your kids are BLESSED they are to have a Mama like you! Taking the time to set up a lovely table, a bounty of tea treats and happy to do it! Are you accepting applications for adoption? I'm 32, American and I love afternoon tea. My own mother would have never done something this nice for us. You inspire me to do these things if God ever gives me the chance to have kids.

I like your endeavor. I love those green plates caused as chargers. You are so right to expose the children to outside their comfort zone things and to teach them good manners. Your daughter didn't look amused, but she's young and one day will appreciate what you're doing. Have you tried serving tea sandwiches on sandwich platters/trays? The trays are narrow and oblong. I bought several at $10 each through Amazon with a French motif. Very elegant. Multiple platters/trays on the table allow guests to see each other rather than having to look around a two- or three-plate stand.

Some people cut the crust off bread, prior to making sandwiches...
I love it.
You made a very beautiful and appetizing table for tea! The only thing I would say is if you want to make the sandwiches healthier don't put all that butter on the bread. You really don't need the butter and the butter adds a lot of saturated fat which is not good for your body.

Ungrateful children after all that work that dear woman went through to hear giggling and complaints. Wish I could have tea with my mother but she has long passed away. I think you did a wonderful and delightful gesture for your family. At least your husband appreciated you and your efforts.
I raised my kids on tea parties. They love them. But to get them do participate on camera is a whole nother ordeal and they would act the same way, nervous and not really knowing how to act normal. For some reason getting in front of a camera makes people act weird. Those kids may not act that way normally and add in the fact that they have never taken part in a tea party and dont know proper etiquete for the occasion makes for giggles. Think back to sex ed class in school and how the giggles and jokes swarmed the room when an uncomfortable topic was raised. Thats not how those kids act daily. In my opinion they acted like any normal teen would do in an uncomfortable situation. The husband was way older and way more mature. He probably had some experience with tea parties from dating her and her culture, (still trying to figure out where she is from, sounded like a new your accent but she kept reffering them as American teens). It may not be the same but have a tea party with friends on mothers day and talk about memories of her. I have had to find creative ways to get my mother through my dads sudden passing. That was one of the ways. On his birthday we would share memories and joke about his quarky habits and such while listening to his favorite music on the record player. pushing the painful memories down is so unhealthy and though it may hurt , it is healthy to remember the good times and the bad but doing it in a peaceful manor. You said your mom had been gone for some time now but it is never too late to have a tea party with her and in her memory. Sorry for your loos and I hope you have your tea party.

I think that is ungenerous. My grandchildren had much worse reactions when my dil made real old-fashioned meringue on a pie and they were not on camera.

Habiba, I loved your afternoon tea party. You have truly embraced the idea of afternoon tea and made it completely your own. Your children are good sports for doing this with such good grace. The cream you purchased is double cream not clotted cream. In the UK, double cream is a thick cream which can be used for toppings or can be beaten until it forms peaks then used to fill sponge cakes etc. What you did with it was completely correct though.
Are your chargers Villroy Boch by any chance. I ask because I have very similar ones (slightly darker green) which I purchased in Paris. They are used in France for very formal dinner settings. I love them and you used them beautifully.
Your children don’t realise it yet, but you are helping them to prepare for the very different world they will live in, where travelling abroad to study or to peruse their chosen career, will be very normal. By exposing them to different customs you are making them more comfortable with trying new things.
I, like your children, am not a huge fan of fruit teas but many people are; I much prefer a cup of Lady Grey tea.

I had to chuckle. Mama wants to have a fancy little tea party, but the teenagers giggle, snicker and turn their nose up at the food. But don't worry, they're learning culture despite themselves, and they will always remember how Mama tried to do something special for them. I raised 3 boys with no possibility of tea parties during their upbringing. Loved the video.
