Last year during the wisteria bloom in my backyard, I was sad that no one was around to see how pretty it was so I decided that I would throw an annual afternoon tea garden party for all my friends when the wisteria is in full bloom. This party comes with a pretty specific dress code, decor list, DIY dupes and thrifted hacks, so follow along as I take on tackling the first ANNUAL TEA PARTY in my backyard.

Rochelle making the wisteria for you is literally the sweetest thing 💕💕💕
she is literally the best
can we get a tutorial short or something? I want to make them for my tiny backyard august wedding!
Also, by having them you can put them aside for next year in that if the natural ones again don't bloom. Awesome job Rochelle 👏
AGREE
I love Rochelle so much
Now Becky’s turn to do a disco themed party 🪩👀
Yesss
Combine those influences and it’s my dream wedding theme. I call it “A Midsummer Night’s Disco” 😂
yaaaaasssss pleeeeeease!!!
Totally need to see one ❤
Please do it!! 🎉
Rochelle, the real MVP 💗
literally unmatched human being
Have Rochelle (and her mom!) do a paper wisteria tutorial!
I 😂😂 do😮n
Rochelle just quietly making the party's theme work again proves she's the best.
Rochelle deserves a raise !
Bumppp
I'm sure she's well-compensated
Rochelle and her mama came to the rescue! Everything is so pretty 😍
its not even the first time! watch this vlog to see what else that dynamic duo did! th-cam.com/video/0-fSf5ilZzo/w-d-xo.html
Rochelle is truly the definition of friend goals
Rochelle needs to do a video on how to make the wisteria! Big Hugs
She loosely followed the directions in this video : th-cam.com/video/0qxWOgTJmrY/w-d-xo.html but instead of using origami paper she used tissue paper and cut up compostable straws instead of rolling up paper tubes!
First, Rochelle = BFF goals. Second, I'd love more themed party content like this.
First: We need a video of Nina (5:42) doing everything in that dress. Pick up sushi in that dress. Walking Bowie in that dress. Organizing the office in that dress.
Second: Rochelle and her mum Making Wisteria is so genuinely sweet and next level, I don't anyone can even...
rochelle and her mom are literal angels for doing that omg
Wisteria flowers can be used to make a lovely jelly as well , so once your tea party is over collect some flowers and make jelly to go onto next year's thumb print cookies or scones...or dry some flowers for tea or to put in shortbread cookies.....note you can also use forsythia, violet, peony, lilac, fireweed, Queen Anne's Lace ,rose petals and lavender.
oh my gosh how did I not know that I LOVE THAT
That’s amazing! And sounds yummy!
I just want to make sure everyone reading this knows, that wisteria is poisonous. Not to the touch, and most people won't die from ingesting it. But it can make you very ill.
well... the flowers are edible in moderation but the seeds, pods, and leaves are very poisonous. so be cautious.
The friend that said “i feel so pretty” in the pink dress 🥰💕 my heart couldnt take the sweetness. Women deserve moments like that, where a dress makes them feel beautiful
Rochelle a true gem💚
3things
* racoons follow you😂
* love your outfit
* Now I want to have a tea party ❤😅
1. as they should
2. thank you!!
3. you should!!
It could be neat next year for a Wisteria party to do a Desperate Housewives inspired mystery party because they live on Wisteria Lane.
omg hahahahahaah
I'm rewatching Desperate Housewives right now and that's all I could think of 💀
OMG TEA PARTIES ARE MY CHILDHOOD DREAM FOR REAL
LITERALLY
Kelsey "Mother of Racoons, co-Creator of Sorry Girls, First in Her Game" rocking her beautiful home and inpiring esthetic!
New bio
We did the tiered plates for our wedding (and had cinnamon rolls instead of cake)! So easy - and we just re-used them for our baby shower. ❤
omg I love that so much thats so special
That’s pretty cool! Plus you can just spray paint ( food safe ones) and just make it a theme too.
Rochelle and her mother are such sweethearts 🥺 it made the party perfect
I hope you kept Rochelle's wisteria for future years. "In case of lackluster wisteria break glass"
My mom has a beautiful wisteria in bc and if you hack it back aggressively after the first bloom is done 8/10 times you will get a second bloom by the end of summer. Also note it will break through wood and damage decking if not pruned.
Rochelle and her mom are rock stars! Would they film a tutorial on how they made them? Everything was beautiful and the food looked amazing. Well done. What a wonderful tradition to begin
I love this idea. Also came out really pretty and looked super tasty. Shout out to Rochelle, Sarah and your grandma for their contributions.
all the MVPs
Benoit Blanc being on the outfit inspo list!!
honestly an icon
The dress that both Becky and Kelsey tried on was absolutely stunning on both of them. Amazing.
People! I think the last clip of the four (Kelsey, Becky, Rachael, Rochelle) means we are getting another sorry girl. It’s a clue. 😂 maybe! Calling it! Also, this video was so fun. 👏🏽
Yessss! Rochelle for official Sorry Girl!
fingers crossed !
@@brookeobscura
It is not uncomfortable, nor is it cringe-worthy! She is proving herself, working her way up, as in every other job that can lead to promotion!
@lovingmayberry307 nah I really get where @brookeobscura is coming from. I think it is uncomfortable, but I also think that TSG will add her soon!
I think they talked about this on one of the videos on their other channel
Afternoon tea and high tea are two different things. High tea is a formal event where tea is served at the table and seated on high back dining chairs. What you hosted was afternoon tea, which is sitting down for an afternoon treat of tea, sandwiches, scones, and cake. A lot of people get the two mixed up.
The origin of afternoon tea dates back to England in 1840. Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford would become hungry around four o'clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o'clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. The Duchess asked that a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake be brought to her room during the late afternoon. This became a habit of hers and she began inviting friends to join her and it quickly became a fashionable social event.
The 8-year-old in me snickered at "master baker".
it truly is the only title for her
Can Rochelle do a video of tissue paper flowers? Like lavender and the wisteria?! I’d love to learn that
I'm so doing this as my house warming party!
omg YAY
I was just thinking this would be an adorable bridal party!!!
@@cassidy983 yes! You should look up old party games too!
@@vintagecameragirl that’s a great idea thank you!!!
Hey, The Sorry Girls team I just wanna say the videos are the highlight of my Tuesdays. Thank you! And Rochelle making the flowers literally made me tear up. I'm so glad I clicked on a Little Red Riding Hood costume tutorial back in the day. You guys are amazing!
Rochelle and her mom deserve a big fat raise and a vacation for saving the party!!
So like I’m getting married soon and my theme is vintage tea party… and I’m using faux wisteria EVERYWHERE for the decor!! ❤❤❤❤❤ this video is everything to me right now!!
Nina is adorable! Twirling away in her new dress from you!! Great party
Rochelle and her mom's fauxsteria was such lovely bit of handiwork and so thoughtful! The whole event was just as pretty as can be...a yearly tradition perhaps?
Your friend's reaction in the pink dress is priceless, that's how every woman should feel in a pretty dress. BTW the party was beautiful
Rochelle and her Mam saved the day! Don't beat yourself up Kelsey, Wisteria are notoriously tricky, next year they will be better!
A major thank you to all these recent videos for LITERALLY saving my wedding year. All the ideas I have and wanted to do for my bridal shower and wedding are now made possible from all your videos. Thank you from a South Florida bride 💕🙏🏼
Rochelle and her mum is the sweetest human being ever!!! Such a gem💕 ANDDDD all of everyone's dresses were sooo ON POINT I LOVEEE the theme, hoping to see part 2 of the tea party with actual wisteria blooms next year, hopefully??
OMG, Rochelle and her Mom are gems!💜💜💜💜💜💜
This reminds me of my wedding! I pulled out all my good China, crystal and silver plus borrowed more from my mother and aunties so everyone ate and drank from heritage pieces in our family. Very sentimental and meaningful for us.
the way i screamed when becky came out in that second dress. hot gorls doing high tea is the summer we all need.
Protip! Freeze dried strawberries are available at Dollarama (Canada)!
The scenes with your grandma choosing linens and tea cups made me teary eyed. I miss my grandma so much 😢
Rochelle killed it! She's the best ❤
What I love about he plate kit is that you can take it apart to store -- genius!
This is such a sweet idea and so pretty.
As a Brit I can explain the difference between afternoon tea and high tea.
You had afternoon tea, tea served with cakes, small sandwiches and scones. This was originally a way for the upper classes in the UK to break up the gap between lunch and dinner at around 4.00.
High tea is where tea is served with hot food, this was usually around 5/6 and was generally the final meal of the day.
love Becky's 'blue isn't my colour' bit 😂 I totally understand tho; dark blue is totally different to periwinkle blue when it comes to clothing
Haha yeah hue matters a lot less than saturation and value (and the way the hue leans) with colour palettes I find
The "mmmh" "mmh mmh" were soo funny😂
Love it! I have been thinking about growing this in my backyard once we replace our pergola. Plants not blooming some years (or not getting as many blooms) could be due to needing more fertilizer, soil amendments to change pH, or needing to be pruned. Try fertilizing, adjusting soil pH, & pruning during the most ideal times for that specific plant. Hope this helps!
It’s also toxic so choose wisely
yah! im going to be doing a lot more research for next year to assure they bloom! but want to avoid toxic fertilizers and such! research tbd
Everything came together so beautifully! Love the trays, the beautiful teacups, the beautiful food, the varied sitting areas, the faux wisteria, all of it. So glad you were blessed with a beautiful day for the get together. A little disappointed the team all sat together on the top deck. Expected everyone to be among the crowd enjoying and welcoming the others.
This is by far one of my favorite videos you all have made! Such a fun video idea.
becky was giving bombshell beauty in that dress with that hair okurrrrr
😭🫶🏼🚨Screaming! Crying! Throwing up! The closing shot of all 4 ladies around the table was everything! What a gorgeous moment with Rachael and Rochelle and Kelsey and Becky!🚨🫶🏼😭
PS- WE NEED A PAPER WISTERIA GARLAND TUTORIAL FROM ROCHELLE! 💜💜💜
Can we talk about Rachel's dress! 💛🤍 Alice in wonderland vibes ✨️
Now we need Rochelle's tutorial on how to make the faux wisteria!
Rochelle and her mum are the sweetest and the cutest for making the wisteria for you!
This was literally the most perfect timing because I'm throwing an English Tea party for my mother in law's birthday in July! Another one knocked out the park ladies!!
Start to finish, this was wonderful to watch. Thanks for bringing us along, Kelsey!
Rachelle and her mom for the win ! Absolutely loved this entire thing. So fun to see inspiration to realization.
Bravo ❤❤❤
Rochelle is the best.
I hosted afternoon tea this past April for my besties baby shower and I totally feel you on all the elements! Love the moss in the place cards!
Also, fun fact, High Tea - while bastardized in North America as fancy - is actually a 7pm meat and potatoes hot meal originating for the working class; while Afternoon Tea was invented by Queen Victoria as a small social meal around 4pm to tide her over between lunch and the traditional wealthy class 8pm dinner. Afternoon tea is the classy 3 course finger food Queens tea we all girl out for :)
Yes, I spent way too much time on making it perfect. I feel like we'd be best friends haha
Kelsey literally looks good in cool tone, while Becky looks good in warm tone.
OMG talk about a dream of Rochelle in Wonder Land! Keep showing your dreams coming to light.
Rochelle coming THROUGH 👏👏
Aw, Rochelle and her mom making paper Wisteria is the sweetest.💜 Beautiful tea party! The garden and decor look fab.
Okay but can we get a tutorial for Rochelle’s wisteria? Because that’s a great way to have your own wisteria tea party even if you don’t have the plant at all (like it’s not native to/won’t grow in your region)
Okay but I love this idea. Like just throwing a party cuz the flowers bloomed???? Yes. We shouldn’t limit ourselves to what we throw parties for. Celebrate every damn thing!!!!
All the dresses are so beautiful!
Lovely tea party! Well done Kelsey and friends! 👏👏👏
I love Rochelle 🥰 and her mum. How sweet ❤
Rochelle!!! The sweetest idea and the handmade wisteria made the party. This was a gorgeous party Kelsey! Thanks for the Inspo
I would have been Kelsey being devastated the wisteria won't come in way too late in the game 😅😵💫such a shame, but at least she knows for next year and Rochelle made such a beautiful art installation to make the theme work!
What a sweet idea! Celebrating nature and it's different moments is so important
Rochelle is honestly a problem-solving genius! ❤
Great team work! Love the results!!!
The dresses were so pretty! Now I want more fashion/outfit content from the Sorrygirl team😊❤
rochelle you and your mom are such sweethearts!!! we appreciate you so much!!!!
This was the first time in four years that my wisteria bloomed, and the blossoms were only there for a few quick days due to our funky weather. I loved the flowers that Rochelle and her mom made, that just put the whole finishing touch to a very lovely party.
What a lovely idea and a beautiful afternoon tea party. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
There is a house in my village covered in wisteria and it stays in bloom for around a month. I love walking past it because the smell is unreal
Rochelle!!! You are so wonderful!
This is exactly the vibe I am planning for my 30th garden tea party ❤😊🎉
Fantastic work Kelsey!!!
Rochelle is so amazing!! I'm so happy she's an official SG 🥰
Yes deffo awesome that Rochelle and her mum made the wisteria flowers, and so much better for any hayfever sufferers that attended your party. Some great hacks, I was a bit nervous watching you drill the ceramic plates but Success! Nice party and loved the menu decor too.
That was so thoughtful of Rachele.
Besides being the Lifesaver for your beautiful Spring Wisteria Tea Party - Rochelle also had the prettiest dress!! Wish I could have seen more of it - but of what I was able to glimpse the color & flowers on the dress were just gorgeous!! And Rochelle looked gorgeous in the dress!! 🌺🌸🥀🥐🍉🍓🍇🍑🫖🍰🦝💞Such a great for a party to throw to celebrate the flora & warm weather!
What a lovely experience of first world problem! 😊 that’s what exactly Cinderella would do after she is bored at the palace!
Rochelle and her mom are angels
How fun! This reminds me of a wedding I helped with, lovely flowers and vintage china.
I hope that this being an annual party also means we get an annual video/vlog! Love this!
I LOVED every minute of this video !! :))
Loved this...All the ladies (and gents) look fantastic. Loved, loved, loooved, the dresses on Nina and Becky. Loved friends going out of their way for you...WAY TO GO TEAM ROCHELLE! Last but not least.. big up's to the bakery queen for all the goodies and Kesley for hosting this theme party. Looking forward to seeing next year's party😍😍
Such a cute idea this tea party! And everybody was on board with their talents and Michelle : so mindful!
Loved your tea party and the prep for it.
This was so lovely and calming ❤
Love this whole video concept. The reason I like diy is the same reason I like event planning - so many creative aspects to put in work to pull together. I hope this does well enough to encourage you to make more content branching out like this!
I’m obsessed! You crushed it! Love everything!!!
