I am an American tea drinker; no coffee for me to my dear departed Mother’s slight displeasure. This is the story: My mother’s mother, dear Grandmother Bess loved her tea and when I was four she gave me a little baby blue tea pot which I still have and treasure as I’m now 80! Anyway, she always made tea such a lovely time for just the two of us that the story goes I refused to alter my beverage in deference to my special delights with Grandmother! Needless to say, my early cups were more warm water with a quick swirl of tea leaf but the effect was enough for my young taste buds! My favorite tea now: PG’s Black tips! Ps Nicolas, as always you have made my end of week a total delight by your post...love your box!

Somehow your videos bring to my mind the amazing worlds of Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite eras that I read about in the books... Great to see you invest so much of yourself into these videos and present in the most calm and polished way. Just wanna say thank you. Its midnight where I am and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Much love and respect 🍀
Try this comparison: pour two cups of Earl Grey side by side, one with the milk in first, one with the tea in first. Hold them up to the light. The one with the milk in first will be ‘clean’, the one with the tea in first will have a scum or oily skin on its surface. This is because you get a different chemical reaction adding hot to cold and cold to hot - with the latter the milk and the bergamot oil separate. The reaction is much less noticeable if you use skimmed milk. This is why it’s generally accepted that Earl Grey, which should contain genuine bergamot oil and often contains other citrus, is better without milk. BTW Mark’s & Spencer sell a unique blend called Empress Grey, which is similar to Earl Grey but more citrusy, it’s worth trying.
Thank you, Nicolas. This was delightful. I married a Brit who will only ever drink tea at home. Understandably, he has found few California restaurants and cafes that can serve it properly, but we have found good tea houses and a few coffeehouses that understand how to handle the water.
I don’t know why this showed up in my feed just randomly but I love ❤️ this guy!!! He makes me feel so calm and relaxed. I definitely will subscribe and watch him all the time. I am more of a coffee person but I am inspired to try tea 🫖 Cheers from Washington USA 🇺🇸

For years I’ve been drinking coffee and it’s only the last year that I’ve really enjoyed tea. I agree with you the cup is as important as the tea itself. Loved your decoupage box, that will be the next little bit of art on my list. Thank you Nicolas, another good video.
I have no idea why this video was recommended to me. I live in South Carolina and iced tea made with tea bags is the limit of my tea experience. I did however enjoy the video and now I have a desire to purchase some “proper” loose leaf tea and try a cup of hot tea. 😊
I absolutely love your passion for fine bone china crokery. I own lots myself and cant get enough of them. Your such a real posh boy you are. Royal Albert is definitely my favourite. Xxxxx
Seriously, what captivated me at first wasn't the knowledge on tea drinking, but your hypnotizing voice. It has a unique quality of making me feel calm and peaceful.
Such kind and thoughtful of you "As long as everybody joining me for tea is having fun and enjoying themselves that is what matters." Beautiful and informative video as always.
We only drink tea (no coffee) and mainly use loose tea. Its procurement and preparation is solely the responsibility of my husband. Over time you get an increasingly sensitive taste. In the past, green tea seemed like "grass water" to me, tasteless at best. Today I love him and the possible nuances. When entering the tea world, I recommend Oolong and Yunnan teas. Flavored tea with artificial substances should be avoided as they spoil the taste. Real flower aromas, on the other hand, can be a wonderful enrichment (as with the featured Earl Gray). If you drink tea with milk and sugar (not only in Great Britain, but also in Northern Germany this is a tradition) a strong asam, cylon or a nice blend is a good choice. There is tea for all walks of life. A beautiful tea box - a great inspiration! Congratulations to Amanda on the beautiful pictures!
My husband really enjoyed this episode. We love hot tea. I am ordering your favorite Earl Grey. Thank you for sharing and letting us understand more about afternoon tea.
Beautiful tea boxes Nicolas! I learned in tea school that the only type of tea that you add milk to is Black tea. It's the only type robust enough for milk. But I do prefer only lemon in my black teas as well. Thanks for another lovely video.
Oh I just love your way Nicolas! I’ve always shied away from formal teas at even the nicer hotels in the US out of fear of doing the wrong thing and it all looks so stodgy. I’ve always felt so much more comfortable taking tea at home and when my three children were younger, I used to do daily tea parties with them and they used to love to invite their friends over for ‘tea with the Queen’ and it was always a huge hit, even with the most rough and tumble of the boys. Your tea box is absolutely perfect and you’ve inspired me to make my own! Thank you for another beautiful video Nicolas!
I'm going to Echo the sentiments of the people who have no idea how your videos got recommended, but we are so glad that we did! Thank you so much for this beautiful video! I can't wait to see more!

Though it's been over ten years, the Starbucks across the street from the office in which I worked in Washington, DC, used to serve Earl Grey tea with milk under the moniker: A London Fog. It was my first experience with the concoction and I became a big fan; unfortunately, the drink did not catch on and was removed from the menu after a while. Nonetheless, I recommend the combination for anyone who enjoys the delicious flavor of Earl Grey and also likes milk in their tea. Thanks, Nicolas, for the charming tea tutorial: sixty-three likes without one detractor. Well done you!

Tea box is beautiful. Sophie is adorable. She looks just like my boy, Ming. They are God's gift to us.
Thank you so much x
I really appreciate that you give options even if their taboo. This is helpful for the new tea drinkers such as myself. Thank you!
That's very interesting and different from how we drink tea in Taiwan. Hopefully one day we can both try the tea ritual from each other's countries!

"I think it's very sweet."
I see that pun, bro.
Like the ambience and the visuals. Your tone and pace is also pleasant.
Kudos to you Mr. Sweet.
I could listen to you for hours. I am over 70 and found your channel recently and thoroughly enjoy it, and you. Very calming. Thank you.
Your video popped up on my feed.... LOVE your aesthetic.. Love and miss England. Subscribed immediately. Thank you for a dose of British culture and beauty.... Hope to get back to London soon.... praying you and yours are safe and sane.
I'm your new subscriber. I'm not British but have been a life long student and eventually a teacher of English Literature.
Wow, thank you for this information. Always open for learning something new. Very cool. Will purchase the Empress Grey soon. 😷 Be safe
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏼🇦🇺🐨
Thank you !
I have a suggestion. What about adding hot milk ? Could it work well?😉
Thank you!
This is so calming, elegant and useful. Thank you so so much 😭❤️
Thank you, Nicolas. This was delightful. I married a Brit who will only ever drink tea at home. Understandably, he has found few California restaurants and cafes that can serve it properly, but we have found good tea houses and a few coffeehouses that understand how to handle the water.
Sounds great! Thank you so much x
@@NicolasFairford Nicolas, I love white tulips, also any white flowers..., so elegant! Love your videos!

Perfect as always!!!! Thank you for the super video. We love you here in Austria, my son who is three years old already says Nicolas Fairford when he wants to make me smile. Have a great weekend.
That is the sweetest thing ever! x
My goodness. I'm so mesmerized. My grandfather is a Londoner in the US and I've never heard anyone so posh besides him....but also SO amazingly refreshing.
Your living room looks so cozy!!. Please make a home tour of your entire place. 👏👏 I was listening to you, but also watching the people outside pass by. One of them even peeked through your window. :)
I am 70 years old and I drink tea since my childhood, but I have learned a lot today. You are an amazing young man with an excellent education and a very nice voice. Greetings from Spain.
For years I’ve been drinking coffee and it’s only the last year that I’ve really enjoyed tea. I agree with you the cup is as important as the tea itself. Loved your decoupage box, that will be the next little bit of art on my list. Thank you Nicolas, another good video.
Thank you so much x
I truly adore your vlogs. Kindness, and mannerisms are a lost art. I am so glad that my parents taught me how to “handle@ any situation at a table.
My second favourite tea channel after Tea Time with Gary & Terry
This one likes to order oolong while looking at the waiters bag and giggles like a girl with his feminine hand over his mouth at the double entendres.
It has a unique quality of making me feel calm and peaceful.
i’m literally having a tea party TONIGHT, this video is perfect timing
Aww he he so easy to watch. Love him!😍
I hope it was fun! x
Nobody has tea parties at night
During a pandemic? Gurl...
@Charisma Girl do you think that's what Hannah was doing?
Such kind and thoughtful of you "As long as everybody joining me for tea is having fun and enjoying themselves that is what matters." Beautiful and informative video as always.
Thank you!
Thanks for your words of wisdom x
These videos are almost cathartic for me. I don't why, but I feel immensely relieved listening to him.
Nothing like a good afternoon tea with a good friend love it.💞
The best!
My pleasure!
This handsome lad is mesmerizing I truly enjoy watching his tutorials
I’m so gonna start talking and acting extremely proper like this when I spill the tea! 💋☕️💋☕️💋
You’re such a lovely old soul! So glad I ran into this channel. Greetings from Nashville!
Happy to have shared this delicious tea with you Nicolas ❣️ I appreciate each time these little moments spent with you 🥰 ✨ Thank you so much 💞
My pleasure 😊
I will never take advice from anyone else on TH-cam about the proper way to drink tea again!! This is it!! I loved this video 😊 It’s very calming!!
Soothing as always Nicolas....I drink decaf tea myself, having done my own research Yorkshire tea is the best.
Thank you!
I didn’t know I needed this channel in my life until right now.
I would love to meet a guy who was into the finer, classier things of life 🙏🏽💕 This video was quite amazing and therapeutic 💕
Me too. No rough tumble guys for me.
Love this video, enjoyed the music, your peaceful voice, the tea tips and the tea box, so unique, congrats to the winner!
I'm going to Echo the sentiments of the people who have no idea how your videos got recommended, but we are so glad that we did! Thank you so much for this beautiful video! I can't wait to see more!
Wow, thank you!
Nicolas, your tea box is just precious. Such a absolute fun way to store your favorite tea. How fabulous it must be to display it on your table as you serve tea to your guest. Thank you for the lesson on how to brew and serve tea. Your tea set is beautiful. You’re so fortunate to have been gifted such a lovely set. Here in Texas sugar sweet iced tea is the thing. I enjoyed your sweet video. Hugs from Texas
Thanks so much! 😊
Cynthia - I was born and raised in Texas, too. We drank our ice tea so sweet it would curl your toes. :D I didn't know people drank hot tea until I was in my late teens. I love it now - unsweet!
@@laurat4977 I also was born and raised in Texas. I live in the Dallas, Texas area. I love sweet iced tea but, not overly sweet. I love hot tea too. I love two special ones. Emerald Charm, a special blend by Sterling Tea a loose blend of black and green tea. A delicious and elegant blend of black tea, vanilla and Rose pedals. It has a beautiful sent. I drink both plain with no sugar, lemon or milk. Both are delicious on their own. I love Nicolas’s videos. So glad I found his channel.
@@cynthiagreen6927 I grew up in Denton! Small world, isn't it? I've lived in New Orleans for 40 years now but Texas is always home. I'll look out for those tea blends you mentioned. They sound wonderful. And yes, Nick's channel is so much fun.
@@laurat4977 my brother lived in Alexandra, LA It really is a small world. We travel to Shreveport, LA sometime. Nice communicating with you. Would love for you to join my Facebook.
Such a delightful experience having tea your way Nicolas! You are are a sparkling jewel who is so loved by our heavenly Father.May your soul leap for joy as you hear him whispering your name while you sleep drawing you so close as you listen to his heart beat.
I absolutely love your video, can't wait to try my hand at making the tea chest. Thanks a ton for sharing, blessings to you . . . .
You are so welcome!
New favorite channel. So relaxing and educational
Cute story! x
They will still make it for you, even though it isn’t on the menu, you may have to explain what it is, but they will still make it for you!!!
London Fog is an Earl Grey tea latte with vanilla syrup added. Apparently originated in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
There is something about your voice and your making of these tea boxes that is so soothing. I absolutely love the art work of not only the boxes but your entire decor of the apartment, and those gorgeous porcelain? figurines of the leopards? are so elegant. I am far from proper or gentle lol 😉 but I love everything you introduce. I also love to see old English country cottages.
Nicolas, this was just so lovely. It brought back some nice memories. I had a Great Aunt who had a desk like yours, and she had beautiful containers with pencils etc on it just like you! Also, my Mom took a decoupage class and made several boxes. This was so enjoyable and I learned from you so many little hints I didn’t know about tea. I think you are so talented ...you should definitely write a book on your esthetic
Of living beautifully. A stunning coffee table book. I’d be the first in line to purchase it. Thank you 🫖🧁🌿🌷🌱
Thanks for sharing your memories x x
Now that I am semi retired and looking to move to a new place, I am looking forward to creativity and fun doing things I never had time for. I just love watching your videos. I can forget what’s going on in the world and create my own. What a nice gift to have!!
I find this to be therapeutic. Thank you Nicolas! New subscriber here.
Every video you make Nicolas is top class. You are special and truly elegant and your voice is very nice, like a murmuring water stream in the prairie.
You're adorable.
Besides Earl Grey, Ceylon, Darjeeling, and "Afternoon Tea" are nice. I also like "Prince of Wales" by Twinning. It's low in acid, made from the the same plant they make green tea from.
I found your page lately and I’m really enjoying to watch your videos! You give me so much inspiration and joy of each . Thank you so much!
OMG, I love the way you talk, so elegant. any mad people will come a cat after hearing your voice LOL I am serious
Thank you for this video, it is has been so educational for me....I am going to have my very own private tea party and try to be so elegant.....
Eeekkkk!!! I was so excited to see you posted a new video!!! Your videos have inspired me in so many ways. It’s a breath of fresh creative air!
Thank you!
Nicolas has a very calming temperament. I’m feeling very sick with morning sickness and these videos are making me feel so much better.
Nicolas, recently passed on my mother's tea set to my great niece who is 7 years old. She was very pleased to receive the gift for Christmas. Thanks for the tea etiquette. Be safe😷
What a fabulous gift to pass down to your niece! I hope it survives years of tea parties and becomes one of her most treasured possessions! Well done! 🥰
How wonderful! What a gift to get! x
I’m so glad you popped up in my feed somehow. I watch one of your videos each morning while I eat my breakfast. You are so soothing and lovely. I can’t wait to see what you will be doing next.
this is about to become my new favourite youtube channel. wow, i’m already obsessed!!!
Nicolas, I hope you know you are like a spring breeze of fresh air. So lovely!! I started my day listening to you.🙏💕
Thank you Nicolas. I enjoyed learning about tea and decoupage.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this lovely video! I truly feel like I am having tea with such a gracious young gentleman and my other dear friends in spirit. I lived in the UK for one year and miss having tea there. I also love having afternoon tea when I am on cruises. I appreciate your instruction on how to serve a proper tea. Water temperatures make a difference for different types of teas, so I placed a bookmark showing the proper temperatures for various types of teas on my refrigerator for easy reference. When the pandemic passes, I hope to host tea parties with friends. 🍵🍰
iv'e never felt so relaxed watching a video on yt.
Glad to hear that!
I feel like i am your guest watching this video. Thank you so much for your video. After summer vacations in Oxford I fell in love with England, its culture and people.
