My future daughter in law wanted a tea time bridal shower and I felt honoured to provide my experience of tea time as a child in England. We made beautiful delicate sandwiches..yes some were cucumber:) and cakes with a variety of salads. We served tea and lemonade and made teapot centerpieces which were given away as prizes during the afternoon. Ladies wore summer dresses and hats and we had a beautiful memorable time on a budget!🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸

We were invited to afternoon tea in the Palace years ago. It was a very small group of people who'd evaded capture after being shot down in Europe during the war. We were son and daughter in law. The tea was delicious and the Queen on good form. I won't forget it.

It's a deceptively strong drink. I was at a wedding in France a couple of years ago. An Englishwoman was marrying a Frenchman, so the booze quotient of the even consisted of Pimms before the meal and champagne afterwards. Despite warnings the French thought it was a tasty but innocent fruit drink and were knocking it back like water. They got absolutely hammered! Later in the day, they were drinking champagne to sober up!

Your recipes look tasty! As a common person, I remove crusts from sandwiches prior to the application of other ingredients. Crusts are collected in a bag that I keep in the freezer. Later, I make crumbs from the crusts to add in other recipes. When making a Tea for a large number of guests, this would be too time consuming. Cooking for the masses is a different experience. Speed in preparation is important.

Reminds me so much of my youth, playing in the filthy back courts of tenement flats, setting fire to midden bins and having a jam sandwich on plain bread with crust (no butter) thrown from the third floor to catch and eat for lunch, such wonderful memories.
Happy days, we even had an inside toilet and a bath in front the fire once per week.
Such a privilege having a monarchy, a commonwealth and a royal family with castles, country estates, the royal yacht Britannia, royal trains and a queen who worked tirelessly for the greater good of all her subjects.
I miss those days of abject poverty with ice on the inside of the windows in our council flat through winter, no summer holiday vacations and only threadbare hand me down clothes and second hand shoes.

Hi Darren, I loved this video. I am a tea time fanatic and love making dainty, luscious tea sandwiches. In the past, I've made dozens for the Devon Horse Show in Devon, PA. I've also made them for friends' wedding and baby showers. My personal favorite is cucumber with butter or cream cheese with chives, a sprinkle of salt and a good grind of black pepper on crustless white bread. I was EA to an EVP at an English company in the U.S. for 16 years. When William and Kate got married, I made a bunch of tea sandwiches at home and brought them in, along with a platter of Scottish shortbread, Digestives, and Pimm's. I'm retired now but still love to make assorted tea sandwiches to have with a cup of Twinings Earl Grey, which I understand is Queen Elizabeth's favorite tea as well. Love your videos. You inspired me to purchase my first Cash and Mason bowls. I'm very partial to the batter bowl with the spout and leave it out on my kitchen island because it's too cute to stick inside the cabinets. Cheers! 🍾🥂

Who knew it was so easy to eat like a royal?! In fact we often do and don't even realize it. Living in southern Georgia, USA, we often enjoy peaches and cream the way you prepare strawberries and cream. Too, though I don't enjoy it, what you refer to as pennies is often enjoyed as a side to a meal. However, it is most commonly found prepared on one slice of bread folded in half. 🤭 I so enjoy your channel and appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experiences.
