Haha, funny how this went form a touching account of surviving cancer to a Star Wars geek fest, lol.
      It's ALL GOOD though.
For the record, Vader is the best Darth, EVER, I don't care what others say, or about "Sith facts" that might disprove my claim.
And congrats to Rob B on still being together after such a nasty diagnosis! If memory serves, that Non-Hodgkins is worse than the Hodgkins version, so that's no small feat to beat.

I was 16 when my father passed on December 17th, 1988. Around what would have been his birthday in August of 1990, the album Empire dropped. I was barely 18, scared, angry, and honestly just wishing he was there to show me how to move from kid to adult. With that album came this song. There aren't words to explain how much a part of my life this song is. I'm almost 49 now, and there are times when I put on my headphones, turn up the volume, close my eyes, and spend just a few moments with my dad.

62 - Do the same.. Felt the same pains in the loss of my Father when I was 21 in 1983, (suicide..... Vietnam vet 2 tours 21 years retired Master Sgt). He was a rock of a man, loving, kind and strong and when he left us all~~~devastation.... Metal music became my sanity helping me rage against the evil pitfalls of this world. It kept me breathing deeply and roaring at the night that was threatening me, my future, my family... How could I have a chance when this mountain of a man was torn down!!!? :(:::::... Jesus found me crying out, He had compassion for me and my life was saved from the abyss. He gave me peace about my father. Still this music the lyrics, the rhythmic ride into the Ether wraps around my heart and soul and I feel the emotion of so many years gone by rolled into waves that splash my mind and refresh the beautiful memories. i miss my dad too... God bless you Ryan....

Thirty years later, this song is still my go-to when I can feel grief building up inside and I'm having trouble processing or expressing it. I listen to it over and over and just let the pain and the tears come and wash over me. It's definitely something I have to plan and lose a day to, but I inevitably feel cleansed and so much better when I'm done. Silent Lucidity is emotional catharsis in musical form.

They write me back, how it gave them an great sense of peace, and 💗 love. If you know anybody who is going through a death or just feel so sad, you should send them this song, it’s just so powerful..

This song. It's permanently emblazoned on my heart. Learned it on guitar with my older sis, and we discovered Operation Mindcrime together, grew up in Bellevue. We had it on a loop. I lost her to the streets ten years ago. She calls once in awhile, when she's in the hospital. The months and in between I'm missing her, worrying about her, just dreading the call where I'm next of kin.
This is a beautiful lullaby. I can't get through it without a few tears, just like Landslide. 🔥🤘😭🤘🔥

Actually think this came out in 90 or 91 but it's still great. I would imagine if you were getting a lot of Queensryche requests it would be songs from Operation Mindcrime which is generally considered their best album. This is where a reaction can be a little off because Operation Mindcrime is a concept album and is meant to be listed to in it's entirety to get everything. A lost art is the concept album one of the downsides to the collapse of the Record business.

  • @RobertLeija
    @RobertLeija 4 ปีที่แล้ว +81

If you would like to do a deep dive into Queensryche, Operation Mindcrime is one of the greatest concept album releases of all time and should be listened to in one sitting if possible, it is one complete story from beginning to end ( you have to listen very closely), each song is a part of a tragic story of and underground rebellion. If you were to do this, you could record the session and then cut it up and release the vids one at a time in order, not many people have done this with this record so it would be good content. Silent Lucidity is not on the Mindcrime album but before you do any from Operation Mindcrime I thought I would pass along this idea. Good content as always, I enjoy both of your reactions and would love for you to play Silent Lucidity for you wife. Have a great day dude.

I played this song on my guitar and sang it to my kids every night, for about three years straight. I had learned the picking pattern from a TH-cam tutorial, just for this purpose.
So I have literally played it about a thousand times. They called it "Hush now don't you cry", and my daughter fell to sleep to it, like a charm.
Goes without saying, big memories for me.

@4:46, TRUTH! Especially when it comes true...and it meant a lot back in the day, but now has a whole other dimension of meaning to it..😢
My thing with this song is, my big brother was an incredible guitarist 🎸, everyday when he'd be practicing/playing I'd go ask can you play a song for me, and he knew me, and would in turn say, not Silent Lucidity 😅, bc he'd played it for me ALOT! lol, and I'd give him the "puppy dog" eyes and "that face", and he'd say don't give me that look, it's not gonna work, I'd still do it and say, pretty please, just once, and he'd look up from the guitar and 'act' bugged, and say, FINE! But just this time! It has a whole different meaning for me now as well as the memories of those times, since we lost my big brother 💔...I know that he "sees" it all differently now too....😢 now that he is my guardian angel 😇 and he was always with me, watching over me in life, I know he does even more so now that he's got his wings 🪽 ❤️
Please don't 😢or I will too! I have a strict philosophy that nobody cries alone in my presence!😉

This song allows me to let my grief out when I'm burnt out trying to hold it together from losing my beautiful daughter. Everything in this song is so relatable. My daughter had a sixth sense and could control her dreams. She knew she wasn't going to be here long even though she was in good health..and I had no control and couldn't stop it. She was too good for this world and every day I get closer to her.
