Stevie is a God of music. First record I ever bought with my own money was Uptight by Stevie in ‘64 aged 10. Been a mega fan ever since. That run of 5 albums, you know which ones, were sheer genius.
Motor City 's own Stevie Wonder. I remember when he made his debut as "Little Stevie Wonder" on a local live t.v. music show back in the early 1960's. Brilliant musician.
Fun fact: Will Smith sample this song for his 1997 song Wild Wild west. Not only that, Stevie Wonder made a cameo appearance in the music video. So many artists sample Stevie Wonder songs, especially from his songs in the key of life album.
Thanks, Biz! This is pretty much my favorite by Stevie! I have heard it was inspired when he attended a family picnic, that brought him back to his own childhood.. SW was and IS genius... I appreciate your reaction and look forward to more!
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 One of my favorite Stevie Wonder song is 🎵 ribbon in the sky 🎵🎶 Official audio You gonna adore this song too Keep the good work Biz 👏 🙌 👍 👌 💪🏻 ✨️
You got a lot of catching up to do, Biz. There was a period of time when a Stevie album dropping was a major event, and he put out a string of them that were unmatched by any other artist of his time. Have fun.
This man dominated the charts back in the 60s and 70s. He laid down some serious funk with his Clavinet playing on many tracks! Check out the song, “You haven’t done nothing”. It’s Stevie telling Richard Nixon how he really feels about him! The song is pure funk and the Jackson 5 sing backup vocals . A masterpiece my friend! Please check it out, it’s right up your alley bro! He dominated the Grammys in the early to mid 70s. 3 of his 4 albums from 1972 -76 won Grammys for album of the year and more Grammys for other aspects of the same albums. Talking Book, Fulfillingness First Finale, Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life!! Also another killer album called Hotter Than July in 1980! Innervisions won FIVE Grammys in 1973. In my opinion it’s his greatest piece of work! A flawless album and also right up there as one of the greatest albums EVER made in any genre! It’s that fantastic!! Every track is killer, every single one!!!
I remember when I first got this album I played it all day. Literally. You have to just listen to some of Stevie's songs. The music doesn't want to be second to the lyrics.
Great song! Do either Master Blaster or You Haven’t Done Nothin next. I need to get more into his deeper cuts, nevertheless I consider him a musical genius. To my knowledge, his last studio album, A Time To Love, was released over 20 years ago, and that’s a wonderful album. Off that album start with Sweetest Someone I Know.
I got to see him play this entire album back in 2016 for its 40th anniversary. India.Arie was singing the female leads. To say it was incredible is an understatement.
This was as close to a perfect album as we are likely to see anyone else write, perform, record, etc. sure, there are many other great albums but within the type of music Stevie offered, this would be difficult to beat. That is an album I would love to hear! Thank you, Biz.
Absolutely love Bob Marley and the Wailers, from the early stuff all the way to Uprising, his last studio album before he died And I bet you would absolutely dig the hard driving funk tracks from Al Green's breakout early seventies album, Gets Next to You. It's so incredible.
Biz. .. ! I remember watching the grammy awards where this album was THE MOTHER LODE for grammy awards!. You mentioned Michael Jackson. Stevie wrote stuff recorded by the Jackson five and played keyboard on their song he wrote called BUTTERCUP.
Such a great album. When it came out, the whole neighborhood was playing it. Whatever the music they would usually be listening to. Try "As," "Pastime Paradise"
Regarding Elvis Presley and Stevie wonder, I don't think either of them became a caricature of themselves. What I think is that they were so notable and impactful that the popularity just exploded into fascination with memes and caricatures and exaggerations and imitations. But I don't think the artists themselves ever did that, that was just part of the huge reaction tunein, but really a small fraction, it's just that it got all the traction. Just like stuff today where people say the most outrageous things get the most attention whether it's bullshit or not.
I think age matters here. I grew up in the 70's and I can't imagine anyone growing up without knowing Stevie Wonder's catalog inside and out. I'm just old enough to have sort of ignored MJ because I wasn't really into the Jackson Five and I couldn't disconnect that. Keep going back in time and you'll find some killer vocalists like Lou Rawls or Joe Williams, of course that's mostly pre-1970's stuff... but dang those guys had pipes! Anyway, Songs in the Key of Life was and remains one of the most iconic albums of all times.
Bruh... for-real-for-real, have no regrets for "when" you became a Stevie Wonder "music disciple!" The only thing that really matters is... that you DID at some point, (timing is irrelevant)! Carry-on, young bruh! 🎤 🎼
I thought Stevie sounded fantastic on We Are The World, too. They were both amazing children who grew up in Motown and became legends. Stevie had a different family than MJ, and it's probably why we still have him with us and performing. I wish people would stop feeling like they have to rank artists as if they were athletes. There's more than one right answer. And that whole album is a thing of beauty. 🙂
"Tryin' your best to bring the water to your eyes \ Thinking it might stop her from whoopin' your behind!" -- 1976! Bicentennial year. I was the exact right age to appreciate that line when the song was new. Heh. "I Wish" topped all the US charts. We really were spoiled for good music back then. Sorry Biz, but Stevie Wonder never clowned himself. Others clowned him -- Eddie Murphy, Dave Chapelle -- and some how that clowning stuck with you. You could say that Elvis clowned himself, but there's more to that as well. You could even say that Michael Jackson clowned himself too, but again, there's more to that as well. Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson both came from Motown, so the parallels in that respect are clear. But Stevie Wonder played his instruments too, sometimes all of them on an album (before Prince did it). And when you're ready for more from Stevie Wonder, also check out "Sir Duke", "Isn't She Lovely", "Superstition", "Higher Ground", "My Cherie Amour", "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", "For Once In My Life", and "I Just Called To Say I Love You".
Listen... don't even be perturbed or misunderstood, for a time when y'all was just lil children, if not born yet even lol! "The gift" that you all give to us, Rob Squad (or, I will personalize it to "ME") and those crazy friends in my head lol... "Myself" and "I" - is that "you two," give us "oldsters" as a manner of saying, (a reference point... I'm y'alls parents age, so we'll keep it a 💯 right now lol)... But before I lose my focus though lol... it's the "renewal" of the hits...the songs... these artists... and these videos... which y'all do so well... with genuine and refreshing approval & enjoyment... of these Pop, Rock, and R&B (aka "Soul" music) vibes! The question is... can we dig All of "these musical genres" all at one time, Rob Squad?? 💯 absolutely... yes we can... dern Skippy! 😁😉
@@snakeinthegrass7443 I'll need to copy/paste my comment to the right channel where it was supposed to go! (Bc I'm not about to waste all that typing) for no good reason, lol!
Songs in the Key of Life is a fantastic album
Innervisions wasn't just written and produced by him, he played almost all of the instruments!❤❤❤ Stevie Wonder is the G.O.A.T
Stevie's one of the GOATS
Some people thought he was handicapped because he was blind, I think all the other musicians were handicapped because they weren't Stevie. 😎
That part
He is still #1 on my concert bucket list.
It don't get much better than this!
Sir Duke!
I played Lee trumpet on that in high school jazz band and Stage band! Good Times man.
Love it!
A true musical treasure ❤
Freshman year of college. Every dorm on campus was jammin' to the "Songs in the Key of Life" album.
When this came out we were all in!!!
Same album "AS", "Sir Duke", "Knocks Me Off My Feet", "Summer Soft", "Another Star".
Hearing this play on the radio when it was new! Memories! Stevie is a class act!
Grew up with Stevie on the radio. Never gets old. Have you done Master Blaster Jammin yet? Stevie’s tribute to Bob Marley.
LOVE that song!
I think most people don't mention Stevie as a goat because it's a well-known fact that he is the goat! Nothing needs to be said... ✌️❤️🤟🥁
Stevie is a God of music.

And every song on this 2 album release was great
Motor City 's own Stevie Wonder. I remember when he made his debut as "Little Stevie Wonder" on a local live t.v. music show back in the early 1960's. Brilliant musician.
Stevie is the pinnacle!
My favorite Stevie´s song! What a bassline! And those horns blow like hell! Love the lyrics too and man,how he can sing!
Mine, too, Daniel!
One of the best dang recordings ever made.
Sir Duke and Living For The City!

Just one of the most talented musicians that ever lived PERIOD!
Imagine this being the sound track to your youth
Stevie has so many great songs. Also he played all the instruments on some of his albums. You should check out his ode to Bob Marley “master blaster “
I had this 45 as a kid. Brings back a lot of memories.
Stevie wants you to listen to Duke Elington.
Yep, "Sir Duke" is awesome!
Thanks, Biz! This is pretty much my favorite by Stevie! I have heard it was inspired when he attended a family picnic, that brought him back to his own childhood.. SW was and IS genius... I appreciate your reaction and look forward to more!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I love his piano work in that song.

One of my favourites from Stevie! 😎🔥💃
And yes, this was sampled in Wild Wild West.
Stevie is a Songwriter, in the same prolific greatness as other smerican songwriters such as jj cale.
Check out "Higher Ground ".❤❤
Jam🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Higher Ground

Fantastic Stevie! The whole album is great!
"You nasty boy" by janet Jackson is the song from the hook in this. Check it out . Good stuff
Stevie is up there among the greats
Cracking me up there at the end, bro. Lol. 😂
That bass is actually a Moog Synth
I remember when I first got this album I played it all day. Literally.
You have to just listen to some of Stevie's songs. The music doesn't want to be second to the lyrics.
RIBBONS IN THE SKY-STEVIE WONDER❤️🩹
Not knowing Stevie Wonder‘s music and being somebody who listens to music. It would be like not knowing the alphabet.

Such a great song, performance, recording 💙
He is an absolute American treasure. Please listen to his early stuff like “My Cherie Amore” or “If you really love me”. ❤

You could easily have all Stevie 24 - 7. It would take months.
God's work, true.
There is no comparison to old Elvis, don't know how you got there.
Absolutely love Bob Marley and the Wailers, from the early stuff all the way to Uprising, his last studio album before he died
And I bet you would absolutely dig the hard driving funk tracks from Al Green's breakout early seventies album, Gets Next to You. It's so incredible.

That dancing comment made my day!
Songs in the Key of Life is a must own. And that horn riff at the end of I Wish is just as nasty as the bass line
I had this album in 76. Sir Duke is my favorite
Pure uncut Funk 🤘🏾
Such a great album. When it came out, the whole neighborhood was playing it. Whatever the music they would usually be listening to. Try "As," "Pastime Paradise"
HERE.
I had this album in 8 track (yes, I'm old), vinyl and CD. Got to be in top 5 double albums of all time.

My vocalist is Alanis Morissette! Mary Jane, Thank You, Perfect, All I Really Want, Uninvited.......
You can hear the late great Minnie Ripperton on one of the tracks on the album.
Biz!
oooooh... still the best!
Yeah Wild Wild West sampled this song! He has so many classics that inspired our generation’s greats
🔥
The Wild West sampled from this song. Check out this whole album!
I think Wild Wild West sampled this

Stevie is a bad man! But you tripping all over yourself at the end was funny as hell.
What? Whoever claimed MJ didn’t have a great voice didn’t know WHAT they were talking about!!
Yep, surprising. Most only know him for his fame as a basketball player.
😂@@commentatron
That and superstition are his best two songs!
Composer!

Check out SIR DUKE, SUPERSTITIOUS ,and SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED. His biggest hits.
Keep in mind, not only is he playing keyboard, but on many songs he is doing everything, bass, drums, keys, ....
