Stevie was called the 7th Wonder of the World for a reason. The fact that he was blind from birth made him a musical genius. I played Ribbons In The Sky at my wedding. It is a great Stevie Wonder song.
This has to be one of the most joyous songs ever written and recorded. And that slide whistle at the end of the second verse always brings a huge smile to my face.
Definitely on the "music to smile by" list. One song doesn't have anything to do with the other (beyond that they're both on my good mood music list), but also try Van Morrison, "Jackie Wilson said".
Stevie Wonder: * My Cherie Amore/ * Living For The City/ * Superstitions/ * Isn't She lovely. /*Signed, Sealed and Delivered/ * Part-time Lover........and many more. Referencing several jazz artists in this recording, check out: Louis Armstrong : *What A Wonderful World ( video live) Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald: * Summertime Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby: *Now you Has Jazz ( video from the movie, High Society) Duke Ellington was a jazz musician ( piano) and had his own band. This is probably Stevie's best album. Every song is a hit! I like how you take the time at the beginning of each reaction to get some info on the artist and song. It's refreshing to know you're not going in completely uninformed.👍
In 1961 when Stevie Wonder was 11 years old Berry Gordy sign him to Motown Tamla Records and they changed his name to Little Stevie Wonder. His first hit with Motown was Fingertips. The first time he met Smokey Robinson, Smokey introduced himself and welcomed Stevie to Motown. He said to Stevie I hear you're a good singer and Stevie Wonder told him "yeah I'm better than you" in all seriousness. What would you expect from an 11 year old, right? Smokey Robinson just kind of laughed it off realizing that he was a young boy and young people speak their mind. He was probably right though. At that age already he could play several instruments and he had a set of pipes. He was Motown's Golden Boy for many decades
I remember putting this album on, sitting on the floor, reading the lyrics that were inside the cover, and listening to the whole thing at once in amazement.
Must do, Higher Ground I wish Living for the City( extended version) Stevie has such an extensive catalogue. One of the most iconic performers, songwriters, musicians, humanitarian, of my generation, before and after
I remember when Songs In The Key of Life received multiple Grammy, including album of the year. It is one of the best albums ever. Stevie Wonder never disappoints. He has been performing since he was 11 years old. He really is a national treasure. Thanks for your great reaction. 👏👏🇨🇦
Stevie has more soul in his little finger than other artists. If you notice almost no one covers Stevies songs because you can't improve on perfection!
Little Stevie Wonder started young and had his first #1 hit at 12 years old called "Fingertips". It has a Part 1 and Part 2. Both can be found here on TH-cam. Stevie Wonder is a multi-instrumentalist who writes and produces songs for himself and others. He plays the piano, synthesizer, chromatic harmonica, congas, drums, bongos, organ, melodica and Clavinet. He mastered the keyboard, bass, drums and harmonica before he was a teenager. I have been a fan since the 60's!
Music about loving music. This might be my favorite Stevie song. Another of my favorites is "Living For The City". If you do it, you have to do the longer album version. It's so much better than the radio edit.
At the time of this release, synthesizers were being invented & newly used in music, SW was a big part of that. A major music critic complained about the new 'fake electronic trumpets' at the start of this song, ruining a perfectly good song. SW replied: the dozen trumpeters that spent months getting the opening 'just right', have invited the music critic to their baseball game. I'm pretty sure it was baseball. I know they all had bats.
Sir Duke - Isn't that song lovely? You should also check out Stevie Wonder's song "Isn't She Lovely?" - which I think is about a newborn daughter - maybe his own or something like that. Very cheerful and rolling song.
Wonderful video for one of my favorite songs! Can’t not smile while listening 😀Perhaps check out some Louie Armstrong, Glen Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and amazing Ella Fitzgerald! All fantastic icons of music honored by Stevie. Keep the music playing!
Hands down my favorite song from Stevie because it it so upbeat and oh so true. Music is the soul of the universe and I listen to it every day because it makes me so happy.
GREAT song!!! Always one of my favorites by Stevie. FYI - it's the Count Basie (pronounced Bay-see) Orchestra that's known as 'the greatest band in the land.' With good reason, too. If you ever allow yourself the pleasure of jazz music, it's a group you'll love. To ease you into it, I'd say listen to Frank Sinatra sing Fly Me To The Moon backed by the Basie band. The song is from one of the best LPs in music history - It Might As Well Be Swing - a 1964 studio album by Frank Sinatra, accompanied by Count Basie and his orchestra. The recording of Fly Me to the Moon which appears on this album has become one of Sinatra's most popular. You'll LOVE the song, & as well as the entire LP. I do hope you'll give yourself that chance!!!
He's definitely a world treasure, for me, right up there with Van Morrison and U2. So glad you're following up with him, he has tons of great great music!
Thanks so much, Salvo -- Stevie is such a genius... I love this, and it's in my "top three" for sure.. they others (if you care to know) are "I wish" and "Superstition".... appreciate your reactions...
We call so many artists geniuses but the term really applies to Stevie - he ruled the 70s and has a fantastic legacy . His slow songs are also beautiful
LOVE this song and the best memory of it was when three of us went to Nag's Head, NC to go surfing and one guy, Buddy, caught a fair ride and he sang "You can feel it all O-o-over!!!" We just lost our minds laughing and this has always been a wonderfully joyous piece that paid homage to the greats that came before Stevie Wonder. EXCELLENT!!!
Memories of driving around during high school listening to this on the 8-track in my car, The shear variety of styles in this amazing album is something to further explore with future reactions!
I was a senior in high school when this came out - it was (and IS) such a happy happy song!! It has that really cool back in the day (as in the 20's, 30's and 40's) dance club sound. Yet, it STILL sounds so fresh and fun!! You can't help but smile when you hear this song.
I learned this on the trumpet in jazz band in high school. And later it became popular for marching bands to play at halftime during football games. But once you learn that riff it is so so so satisfying to just let it rip. So fun. Check out one of his earlier hits that was on the radio constantly when I was in grade school and I loved it from the first time I ever heard it, Boogie on Reggae Woman. It's so funky and also really quirky at the same time and it's just so much fun.
There was so much excitement about this album coming out and how great it would be. We had so many great albums in the seventies. This is definitely near or at the top. You’ve played songs from several of these albums.
He had a run of four albums in the ;70s, from Talking Book to Songs in the Key of Life, that is one of the most amazing streaks in pop music. Any one of those albums would be a crowning achievement in music, he had four in a row.
I remember watching the Grammy awards back in the mid 70’s when Paul Simon won album of the year. He began his acceptance speech by thanking Stevie Wonder for not releasing an album that year.
I was 15 when a buddy called to say he'd gotten this album (LP, of course--double set!). Rode my bike straight to his house and we listened to it in his basement, three or four times straight through, his mom yelling down the stairs for us to turn it down throughout.
This is one of my favourite tunes, I spin that vinyl single a lot. There is a superb live version with the amazing musicians doin their best for Stevie. Also the message is so needed again now.
I remember buying “Songs in the Key of Life” in an M Street record store in Georgetown when it was first released. One of the all-time greatest albums.
Count Basie is pronounced Bay-cee. He was a legendary bandleader. I met him and his orchestra's world-renowned crooner Joe Williams at a road concert in 1961 or '62. You should listen to their rendition of "Every Day I Have the Blues".
Stevie was called the 7th Wonder of the World for a reason. The fact that he was blind from birth made him a musical genius. I played Ribbons In The Sky at my wedding. It is a great Stevie Wonder song.

Completely agree! Well said. ♡
Definitely on the "music to smile by" list. One song doesn't have anything to do with the other (beyond that they're both on my good mood music list), but also try Van Morrison, "Jackie Wilson said".
"This should be the theme song to life." A+ comment.

"Isnt She Lovely" wriiten by Stevie celebrating the birth of his daughter. Fabulous❤🎼
My husband was a morning man on a local radio station. He played that the morning our daughter was born. It’s a glorious tune ❤
The theme song for life? That's because it's a song in the key of life.
I truly didn’t put two and two together lol
Songs in the key of late 20th century life says it all just pure Stevie Wonder Brillance I was there to live it and hear it I was sweet 16 😊
Stevie always brings the genius to his music with ease because it just flows through his veins. A true master.
SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED is another awesome hit like this, from Little Stevie Wonder.
Can NEVER go wrong with Stevie! That whole album is 🔥

At my house we call this “The Birthday Song”. On someone’s bday, we put it on and the whole family dances. Brings joy each time!
The whole album is fantastic. Stevie Wonder is one of God's gifts to humanity. Thanks for your reaction.
Must do,
Higher Ground
I wish
Living for the City( extended version)
Stevie has such an extensive catalogue. One of the most iconic performers, songwriters, musicians, humanitarian, of my generation, before and after
Sir Duke is pure joy.
Every college marching band in the country was playing this in 1977. Football Saturday theme song!
I remember when Songs In The Key of Life received multiple Grammy, including album of the year. It is one of the best albums ever. Stevie Wonder never disappoints. He has been performing since he was 11 years old. He really is a national treasure. Thanks for your great reaction. 👏👏🇨🇦
“This should be the theme song to life” -SalvoG
Do you realize this song was on the album titled “Songs in the Key of Life”?
"Master Blaster" is another great one by Stevie. But my favorite is "That Girl" 💃
You must listen to the Entire album.
It is one of the greatest albums of All Time.
"Should be"? This _is_ the theme song to life, as far as I'm concerned. So much fun to see you discovering it.
An American musical icon singing about other American musical icons! What a joyful tribute.
This song feels like the first time every time
Incredible piece of songwriting
One of Stevie’s most critically acclaimed song and album.
Yes that's right. Stevie is one of the greatest and most inventive singer and musician of all times. A master and a genius!
Stevie has more soul in his little finger than other artists. If you notice almost no one covers Stevies songs because you can't improve on perfection!
Agreed. In fact, it's almost impossible to cover a Stevie song because they are so deceptively difficult to sing without sounding like an idiot.
Little Stevie Wonder started young and had his first #1 hit at 12 years old called "Fingertips". It has a Part 1 and Part 2. Both can be found here on TH-cam. Music is a world within itself,
With a language we all understand.
Stevie's tribute to the musical greats.
SalvoG, your joy in music is infectious. Thank you for all you share. ♡
I agree. He has great reactions!
Music about loving music. This might be my favorite Stevie song. Another of my favorites is "Living For The City". If you do it, you have to do the longer album version. It's so much better than the radio edit.
The radio edit of "Living For The City" turns it into a completely different song that has the opposite effect. It's the worst radio edit ever done!
Love this!! It never fails to bring a smile & joy to my heart. Stevie started out as a child prodigy at age 13. "Superstition" is another good one.
Ribbon in the sky… absolutely beautiful.
More Stevie! More Stevie!!
Stevie is in a league of his own. Never a bad song.
If you enjoyed the horn section you need to hear Paul Simon " Late in the Evening"
This album is just pure genius
That brass🎺 is unmatched!
As soon as I saw what song this was, I knew you were going to be in for such a joyous ride. This is one of the most perfect songs ever performed.
Glad you decided to revisit Stevie again, he’s made so much great music.
'Theme Song to Life' Perfect description. In the right key for sure. Now we need some Ella and Duke on your channel.
you should give this whole album a listen through.
it'll really show you what an amazing craftsmen he is.

I think you’d like Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie. Classic track
Sir Duke - Isn't that song lovely? You should also check out Stevie Wonder's song "Isn't She Lovely?" - which I think is about a newborn daughter - maybe his own or something like that. Very cheerful and rolling song.
His firstborn daughter. He has 9 kids.
All his albums from the early mid-70s are the best, at least, to me! He also had some absolutely wonderful songs in the '60s, as well.❤🎉❤
Give "Isn't she lovely" (a song about Stevie's first born child) a listen! A WONDERFUL song plus a TERRIFIC album!
I have had this song in life’s rotation since I was 9 :)
"This should be the theme song to life". Truer words were never spoken about Stevie Wonder.
That's why the album is called Songs in the Key of Life. 🙂
Any cut of that album is THE BEST
Give the Brothers Johnson a listen. Strawberry Letter 23. Stomp, I’ll be good to you, get the funk out ma face.
Wow! That's a blast from the past. I haven't heard Strawberry Letter 23 since my teens.
One of the greatest albums in the history of albums.
He is a once in a lifetime talent and a musical genius. This is also probably one of the top five albums of all time in my opinion
Count Basie-pronounced BASE-EEE. This song is epic good.
Hands down my favorite song from Stevie because it it so upbeat and oh so true.
Music is the soul of the universe and I listen to it every day because it makes me so happy.

I was 6 years old when this came out and I would lose my mind everytime it came on the radio. I had the 45 lol..... my all time fave song ❤
Stevie is pure joy.
Its Stevie. Heard this in the appliance store made them put it on to test out a stereo. With Bose 901 speakers. 1975
Ooh, I hope you make it to Signed, Sealed, Delivered - it’s so good!
Thanks so much, Salvo -- Stevie is such a genius... I love this, and it's in my "top three" for sure.. they others (if you care to know) are "I wish" and "Superstition".... appreciate your reactions...
The whole album is pure joy, especially "As" (my favourite Stevie Wonder song).
I was thinking "that's my 2nd favorite".
The most unique voice in music. One of my fav songs.
We call so many artists geniuses but the term really applies to Stevie - he ruled the 70s and has a fantastic legacy . His slow songs are also beautiful
Great album by a tremendous talent. Stevie truly is a Wonder.
You said it pure joy love you

One of the coolest bass parts ever!
I was 9 years old when this was a hit. Great memories of the times.
Check out Stevie's and Paul McCartney's duo effort called "Ebony and Ivory". Great message for these times.
What a magnificent time to be alive we had the BEST music ❤
It was fun watching you enjoy this song. It's like watching a friend hear it for the first time. The whole album is amazing.

We played this in pep band in high school (graduated '79). So fun!!
He wrote "Isn't She Lovely" about his daughter, who ironically has never seen. It's a beautiful song.
Sax, my favorite instrument!
I know you enjoy the Eurythmucs, Stevie plays harmonica on their song There must be am angel. It's Ear Candy. I think you will love it!
One of the all time greatest albums.
Stevie Wonder- AS - Live in Studio - 1976 should be your next Stevie reaction!
I wish he would do a full album reaction like he did in the beginning of his channel. It would be well worth it.
I learned this on the trumpet in jazz band in high school. And later it became popular for marching bands to play at halftime during football games. But once you learn that riff it is so so so satisfying to just let it rip. So fun.

Have I told you how much I enjoy your reactions?! NO?! I love your channel, and the joy you get in listening to the best in music.

Sooooooo happy! It's hard to pick a favorite Stevie Wonder song but this has always been mine. Thank you for this!
If you're diving in, you need to start where it began, in 1963, when Stevie was 13. "Fingertips"! He's a musical genius.
I was 15 when a buddy called to say he'd gotten this album (LP, of course--double set!). Rode my bike straight to his house and we listened to it in his basement, three or four times straight through, his mom yelling down the stairs for us to turn it down throughout.
Please do a deeper Dive into his album Songs in the Key of Life. The album is a MASTERPIECE!!!!!! You might want to start with Isn't She Lovely.
Little Stevie Wonder
Knew you would love this. You should use this as a list of people you need to listen to.
Was a trumpet player back in the day. This song is such a fun song to play!! 🎺
I had fun seeing your reaction SalvoG❤ Thank you!! Love Stevie Wonder, all his music is wonderful, he’s just talent 👏🏻🎼❤️
Some pretty special, distinctive voices in there! ❤
This is one of my favourite tunes, I spin that vinyl single a lot. There is a superb live version with the amazing musicians doin their best for Stevie. Also the message is so needed again now.

Joy is synonymous with Stevie.
Why isn't today's music this good? 😢
It still is, it's just not commercially viable, you have to seek it out.
