Agreed. As much as I can agree that in the context of all of his work, Songs In The Key Of Life is Stevie’s finest work. Having said that, I think Innervisions might just be my personal favorite of his.
Great reaction to an amazing album! I loved the look on your face when you slowly realized that you were listening to the source material for Coolio's "Gangster's Paradise". The ironic thing about Coolio's song is that he got really mad at Weird Al for releasing his parody of the song (Amish Paradise) when Coolio's song was a blatant ripoff of Steve's song.
Note that there is an additional mini disc where we find the titles "Saturn", "Ebony Eyes", "All day sucker" and the jazzy instrumental "Easy Goin" Mama" which completes this gigantic double album, 'one of the greatest of them all. And to think he'll be 50 in 2 years The production is so crazy, the influence so huge (most rappers will sample him all the time in the 90s) And Stevie n. He was only 26 years old. A living legend of music, one of the last. Let's salute him for everything he brought.

What is not to love about this album? Talking Book and Innervision's are also incredible. For the truly adventurous there's also The Secret Life Of Plants. Cheers!

yo, have listened to some Soul, but not a lot of it though lol. I'll recommend some stuff though because Soul is awesome, I'm more on the modern stuff though, Yola's Stand For Myself is so good one of the best Country Soul albums and possibly one of two of my favorite modern Soul albums (which ARE my fav soul albums), the other one is Amy Winehouse's Back to Black which is so pretty, I watched her documentary just earlier this year and made me appreciate it even more than I already did, and I really did. For some oldies Etta James" At Last! is s'wonderful and Nina Simone's Pastel Blues as well. For a guaranteed good smooth soul experience just listen to any Sade album, she's the best.
All brilliant albums! I would also say "Mama's Gun" by Erykah Badu, "I Never Loved A Man" by Aretha Franklin, "Pieces of A Man" by Gil Scott Heron, and for a modern album I'd go with Lianne La Havas self-titled album which is GORGEOUS!

Sir Duke was the closer on side one, a prime spot for a single from any album. I guess you're using a "track list", which ìs NOT how albums were experienced, pre CD.
Yea that would make more sense. To be fair, half these tracks would work just as well as closers or openers to the albums given their unique grand sense of style that feels so encapsulating.

Exactly...Saturn is a nice cut...Ebony Eyes is great....All Day Sucker is my CUT....and Easy Going Evening (My mama's call) is excellent.

Innervisions and Talking Book are both masterful. Stevie's 5 album run in the 70s is legendary.
