I agree! Thanks to both of you for reacting to I WISH from a brilliant songwriter and artist. Even those who cover his songs get bathed in his genius. Speaking of which, do you know what I wish? I wish you would react to the energetic and rockin' cover of Stevie Wonder's song HIGHER GROUND, as performed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think you would both really enjoy it. When you do it, please react to their official music video. So fun! Btw-the bass is killin' it in that song!

Not only did "Wild Wild West" sample this, but Stevie's in the video with Will! For my money, the five albums Stevie recorded between Music of My Mind and this Songs in the Key of Life are up there with the greatest continuous musical output of any artist ever. This, along with "Superstition", are my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. The instrumentation is bonkers, the story is so relatable, and it's just plain fun to jam to. What more can you want? And yes, Will Smith did sample this song for "Wild Wild West", which was featured in the movie of the same name that starred him. It also sampled "Wild Wild West", the 1988 rap song by Kool Moe Dee. If I had to nominate your next Stevie song, I would recommend one of his minor hits in the 80s, "Go Home". It's been one of my dark horse favorites that I always seem to return to when I'm in a Stevie mood.

Stevie won best album 1972 to 1974. He did not release an album in 1975 because he was still working on Songs in the Key of Life. That year Paul Simon won best album for Still Crazy After All these Years. It's a great album! Paul's acceptance speech was: "I'd like to thank Stevie Wonder for not coming out with an album this year." Need I say more?!

My dad bought this 8 track Songs in the Key of Life when I was 11. Even though I was still a kid I Wish was my favorite song on this track. We listened to it when we were in the car. I loved the horn section in this song. The entire album was fire.

"Songs in the Key of Life" is Stevie Wonders' magnum opus. He released many great songs before and after this album but this is Stevie at his very best. This was the soundtrack of my high school years. Singles from this album were still being released two years after it's initial release. The artists referenced in "Sir Duke" are musical giants that greatly influenced Mr. Wonder. Plus it's just a great song to sing and dance to 🎶🎶😊😊

Me too. Ever since I was 5 years old. I'm 55. Thanks to being the youngest of 5 and 8-17 years behind them. This is my favourite Stevie Wonder song. I'm a sax player and musician. I have this CD in my car and tribute albums of over musicians performing their interpretations of his work. This album is a masterpiece. I was fortunate to meet him while at university and attend his concerts later that day. It ranks as the only concert I left early. I sadly had to leave because I had an exam at 8AM and a concert that began at 8PM was still going at 3AM! It was epic! He had a full band with horns, background singers, percussionists, and dancers, especially for the song "As" which was the last song I saw. I had front row seats for it. This was when "Part Time Lover" and "Overjoyed" were popular. There was no internet, of course, so I camped out for 16 hours for tickets.

This is one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs although there are so many. But I must say, my absolute favorite, Boogie On Reggae Woman, is an early hit of his, from the early 1970s, and it has the distinction of being the very first use of a keyboard driven bass part using a slider wheel / joystick (adapted from an RC radio controller!).
Make sure there is a cut that is slightly longer by about 40 seconds I think, because the other one is the radio cut and you miss out on some of the best jamming and going off at the end!
