Awesome. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I didn't hang outside with the installers and missed some of the more technical pieces. We had a great installer though. I've learned not to rely on the Google Speed Test for speeds, only for connectivity. I've isolated the studio to their router and run everything else with the Google Wi-Fi mesh. We've been very pleased so far. Look forward to watching your journey as I'm sure to learn more and get some tips.
Excellent video! Since 2017, I've had fiber to my new home and am glad to see that others ate finally get fiber. Even 1G is amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience
Cool! I’m on 1gig fiber with PON like that from my small local provider here. Now they are offering 10gig over same fiber and I’m just waiting for a new PON. Supposedly price will be the same for the 10gig, but I have to pay $$ for the PON. I’ve been slowly upgrading equipment for years to be ready for going over 1gig. My firewall still probably won’t be able to route the full 10gig though. I also remember T1 being a life goal haha :-)
Right on! I've also been looking at some of these funky sfp+ modules that actually embed some of the ONT functionality if I can get one of those to work that would definitely clean up my setup a bit. This M500 with OPNSense can route greater than 1gbps but I am not sure how it will hold up if I turn more bells and whistles on. 😀Thanks for watching!
good gracious LOL I have 1 gig fiber just got it a few days ago and can't really see much difference from my 30 mb I had. Im sure it has to do a lot with what you're doing. I have 10 gig networking inside and of course moving large files fly across networking. I use sfp+ routers and sfp+ in my computers and nas and one 10 gig ethernet on my Mac Studio.

Right on and thanks for watching. Honestly 1g is probably plenty and I'll find myself switching back... Maybe. 😄

That's what I'm really looking forward to on the backside of the firewall. Upgrading my main desktop and nas to 10g.
you can get upto 25gbps (last checked) on 1 fiber with a bidi sfp28 transceiver.
For sure! At work I've used those and the 40 and 100g(qsfp28) ones.
What a world we're in now, coming from experiencing the original WWW over a modem
💯. It's wild to think about how quickly things have progressed although they may have seemed slow in the moment.
