  • 😴Ayurvedic Evening Routine to Build and Increase Ojas 💪
Building Ojas is at the center of Ayurvedic practices as it creates a strong foundation of strength and peace within a person. Having strong Ojas will help you be better able to handle the waves of life. You can work to increase your Ojas through your Ayurvedic evening routine.
Your Ayurvedic evening routine does not have to match mine exactly. This is just an offering to inspire you to personally craft your own Ayurvedic evening routine to help YOU build and increase your Ojas for ultimate vitality!
    1. Eat dinner 3 hours before bedtime, or whenever sundown is. Aligning yourself with the circadian rhythm is best. As nature changes throughout the year, we should adjust ourselves and our practices too.
    2. Go for a walk or practice light movement. I always love to get outside after I eat to gently move my body and take in the last little bits of sunlight. Even if I’m in the mountains or snow, I always try to connect with nature one last time before going to bed. Fresh air is the best medicine.
    3. Make tea and dim the lights. Start to tell your body you’re winding down by slowing down your movements and reducing your light exposure. Consider switching to candlelight if you can’t dim your lights manually.

I always opt for golden milk or sleepy-time tea, whichever one I’m feeling more. Both are settling for my digestive system and cue my body that sleep is coming.
Ashwagandha is one of the best Ayurvedic herbs to assist with sleep. It is also one of the most revered Ayurvedic herbs as daily intake has the ability to improve the body’s stress response, which is so crucial in our modern world. Ashwagandha can also help improve mood and concentration. It’s known to bestow stamina and vitality for a powerful life. This herb is most beneficial for Vata dosha but can benefit all doshas as a supportive herb.
    4. Take a warm bath + practice pranayama. Milk bathing is an Ayurvedic ritual that cleanses the body and nourishes the skin. Having a warm bath before bed helps me wind down my quickening mind and hydrate and cleanse my skin. I use coconut milk bath powder for extra nourishment.
While you’re in the bath, it’s also a great time to practice deep breathing pranayama. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and focus on breathing in and out through your belly. Feel the belly rise for 5 seconds, and then fall for 5 seconds.
For the smoothest skin, TRY Paavani’s COCONUT MILK BATH blend and SAVE 10% with code CLARE10
    5. Read or stretch. Get your eyes away from any screen and tune into your body through light stretching, or reach for a book that brings you pleasure.
Lights out and go to bed by 10p.

Hey! I personally love them, but better for the morning. From an Ayurvedic perspective, I would be weary only if one has a severe vata imbalance, as it could only make those symptoms worse since you would be adding cold to cold.
But if one is overall balanced, ice baths can add value. Compliment with Abhyanga and digestive tea. 😃

    Namaste Clare!
    Nice vid and good tips.
Assuming there is not time for everything, which do you consider to be the most important tip to build Ojas?

Helpful but my days can be long getting back from work. I’m lucky if I’m home by 6pm
