Also, Hank often feels jealousy, disappointment _and_ pride for Bobby but he at least has enough self-awareness to realize when he's hurting his son and make it right (the episode with the ventriloquist's dummy springs immediately to mind). Peggy comes in, tells him off, he dies, then Peggy lies to Hank that Cotton said he loved him. We end on a bittersweet lie. • @LOSTLEAD8R
      @LOSTLEAD8R ปีที่แล้ว +100

      Not really? Cotton is a complex character, and in this video he explains that he doesn't want anyone to mourn him by "burning all his bridges". People say this is a return of Cotton being a selfish ass, but in reality Cotton knows he fucked up. Cotton knows he has done awful things, and for the most part should be forgotten. He knows he fucked up Hank, and he wants Hank to finally admit that he's awful because he knows he's been. Peggy being at least moderately good at emotional intelligence gives both what Cotton and Hank want. Hank wants something that just isn't there, while Cotton knows he deserves to be called out. Like honestly this is one of the best episodes of King of the Hill because it understands its characters so well.

    • @mistermeow527

      @@LOSTLEAD8R Dang, I never thought of it like that but you've put it perfectly. I'd always been annoyed that in this episode Cotton as a character ended back where he first started rather than the growth he had in prior episodes but that's sort of the point isn't it? Cotton could've set things right in at least some modicum of a way but that would mean he'd be thought of differently and more positively for actions he himself knows he absolutely does not deserve. Like when he takes blame for the Church fire in Bobby's place he's not upset for taking the blame he's being given, he's genuinely upset that he's being forgiven for it and everyone fawning over him.

    I can sympathize with that. I had a laptop that I used the crap out of for years. One day she gave me the dreaded blue screen. At first I thought I might've had a virus so I took her to Best Buy and the Geek Squad guy told me a chip had gone bad and Dell didn't make that chip anymore. I kept the hard drive so I didn't lose any schoolwork.
    When my abusive drunk of a father's heart gave up on him in the middle of the night, my response was indifference when the cops told my mom that they found him.
    I still miss him a little, I know it wasn't his fault. He was sick and didn't get help. I sort of wish he didn't quit the Army before he completed basic training. I feel like he would learn that he could go to others when he needed help. He also would've made a good paratrooper, he was certainly brave enough and he almost never quit.

    Nobody giving Peggy credit for straight up saying to Cotton what Hank should have. She didn't air her problems with Cotton because she deemed Hank more important. She defended Hank to the bitter end with Cotton and still put Hank first. Peggy does many bad things, but she loves who she loves and refuses to see harm befall them.

    Can someone please upload the best clip of this episode.
    Lucky and Luanne want to watch Bobby for a few days while Hank is struggling with the situation. They don’t know what to tell Bobby so lucky goes, “I got this baby girl”
    He goes to Bobby and says “Bobby, there’s a crazy man going around killing kids in your neighborhood and if you stay here you’ll be in grave danger”
    He looks back and winks at Luanne and Bobby looks terrified.
    That shit was hilarious someone post that clip
