One of the most important and historic nights of the Monday Night War gets covered this week in Reliving The War. Scott Hall, aka Razor Ramon, shows up on WCW Nitro and he promises a takeover of World Championship Wrestling. For many people, this was the true beginning of the WWF vs WCW Monday Night ratings battle that would continue for years. Today's WWE girls and boys truly benefited from what went down on Monday Nitro back on May 27th 1996, as did the whole wrestling business (for a while at least). Scott Hall had given up his WWF membership card in reality, but in Kayfabe, Scott Hall portrayed a WWF invader.
The WWF had a few issues with their In Your House: Beware of Dog pay per view. The lights in the arena got switched off due to a power outage, and also, the pay per view feed got cut off. On this week's episode of Raw, Vince McMahon promises to make things right with "Beware of Dog 2", the pay per view would air the night after Monday Night Raw. This week of episode features King of the Ring qualifying matches including Ahmed Johnson, Vader, The Ultimate Warrior and Goldust.
While the WWF environment stayed the same really, WCW began to truly turn up the heat this week on Reliving The War. Not only did Scott Hall show up, but WCW went to a full 2 hour broadcast, meaning the company were packing more action into their weekly television show. It would only get better from here, we aren't quite at the era of weekly cruiserweight action and nWo Hogan, Hall and Nash running the place... but we're very close!

Like a week or two ago when he said "Goldust touched the Little Phenom" that cracked me up.
From this point for the next 5 years or so the wrestling business has never been so good before or since. Spent many Monday night's in college having watching Nitro and Raw with friends. I graduated high school 3 days prior to these shows. The moment Hall showed up on Nitro was such a huge moment.

Yeah, I was just entering High School by the time this era started happening - so I was at the perfect age for this era.
I managed to get my grandfather into wrestling for the first time since the 50/60’s too - and we would always talk about last nights match and theory’s every Tuesday at dinner.
So many memories. Especially this point and time with the PlayStation and N64.
Only thing I would take back...was the clothing style back then, haha.
But apparently mom jeans are making a comeback - even though they’ll forever be cringe to me, haha!
@@NightOfTheLiving8bit No doubt great times. My grandfather is actually who got me into liking wrestling in the early 80s, he'd take me and my cousins to shows quite a bit and we'd get together to watch ppvs later in 80s. High school and college was the perfect age for the Monday Night War era.
@@NightOfTheLiving8bit my grandad used to watch WCW Worldwide on Friday nights on Channel 4 and we'd talk about it the next week. they didn't have satellite TV though and only had 5 channels (this is the UK) so couldn't watch Nitro. his favourite wrestler was Meng

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Scott Hall walking on Nitro on that day I saw the episode. That famous line where he said "You people, you know who I am, but you don't know why I'm here?" I actually thought he was not gonna speak in character when I saw him come that night.
It's not an understatement to say this night was a line in the sand of professional wrestling history.

I loved wrestling as a young kid, Hulk and Bret Hart.. I watched from age 4-7 (early 90s).
I was too didn't have access to wrestling from age 8-15 but dipped in when possible at friends houses and played the video games and acted it out on the streets still etc.
I started watching again in 2000, and missed most of the war. Despite that, it is my fave time in wrestling, I love watching and reading about it.
I am a huge nWo, Kliq & Austin mark, and this content is absolute gold.

@broootal I think you need your eyes checked mate 44k (Current viewership a week later of the last episode) isn't 700k (The lowest AEW gets) or even a million (The lowest RAW still gets which is still the highest for the USA network) it's nearly like just calling something unwatchable garbage when in reality it just doesn't suit your tastes is just downright wrong

RIP Kevin Green. I remember him not only like one of the great NFL player, but from WCW as well.
Some can also call this the true beginning of WWE's attitude era. That was WWE's response to nWo.
So, haven't finished watching the full video but, with how you're handling the unopposed hour of Nitro, I like it and, is probably the fairest way of scoring it. Giving a point on if you would've actually stayed with Nitro. I like it.

I waited months for this episode to drop to begin binge-watching the series thus far. Was not disappointed; good coverage, tight editing, smart calls on format changes. A definitive look at the MNW for sure.

I wish i watched more of WCW back in 96-98
I was lucky, we got it on basic cable here in the UK while WWF was on premium so I watched an absolute ton of it at the time and preferred it while still loving WWF too. The presentations were so very different and unique to each other back then, always loved that WCW was a touch more sport based.

I remember this show like it's the back of my hand. I couldn't even tell you what went on in WWF at the time because I was so fixed to Nitro. I was always a huge wrestling fan no matter what the promotion. I loved ECW , WWF, WCW and all the rest of the territories. But when Scott Hall appeared on this show followed by Kevin Nash the following week we, were in for a real treat for a while. It caused the WWF to change and pick up their game. Great work on the wrestling bios man, keep up the good work! I love reliving the war and the rest of your bios! Great job dude

Great work, as always! This is the inflection point in wrestling that helped things move away from the silly story lines to a grittier WCW and eventually a grittier WWF.
