It’s June 24th 1996 and you have a decision to make, do you watch WCW Nitro or do you switch to the WWF channel? WCW Monday Nitro is live this week from Flair Country, Charlotte NC while WWF Raw comes live from Green Bay, WC. It’s the night after King of the Ring, and after Steve Austin gave his famous “Austin 3:16” speech, Stone Cold finds himself in the main event this week for the first time ever. The final match on Raw this week features Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Undertaker, two men who would remain loyal to the WWF throughout this whole Monday Night War.
Over on WCW Nitro, things are seriously heating up in regards to the Outsiders invasion. Team WCW is now set in stone; Lex Luger, Sting and Randy Savage will defend WCW at Bash at the Beach against Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and a mystery third partner. WCW is on edge this week, everyone is waiting for Hall and Nash to show up, but we’d have to wait until the Nitro finale before seeing The Outsiders. Nitro is headlined with a triangle tag match; The Steiner Brothers vs Sting & Luger vs Harlem Heat.

In my opinion the quality of RAW improves considerably when Bret Hart comes back and the Bret vs Austin feud begins
You hit the nail on the head. Before that, they were wasting Austin in the lower midcard. The feud with Bret helped catapult him into superstardom and brought so much entertainment value to the WWF.

I really liked KOTR 1996. The Austin vs Mero, Mankind vs Undertaker, and Bulldog vs Michaels were really great matches. Plus it took place the day I was born so I’m a bit biased.

I remember marking out HUGE when Ahmed won the IC title. It really looked like he was getting the World title push, and this was part of it. So saddening that he got so many injuries. They did a great job hiding his weaknesses, he seemed LIKE THE REAL DEAL to me as a kid!
Lots of injuries.... but not to his thighs.
He was my favorite as a little kid... but then again so was savio Vega(and every other face mid-card) so maybe I'm just a dumb mark

only now i realized why i love reliving the war so much. the whole channel is great, mr bios, but in rtw your wonderful personality shines through and i can't get enough of it! long live Glacier!
3:16 and NWO within one month of each other. You couldn't make this stuff up. Looking back at it now it seems so unbelievable. This what makes Reliving the War such as a special series as are watching the puzzle being constructed piece by piece, move by move. And of course July is Glacier month.
By the way Wrestling Bios you should have set the 3:16 time slot for when you were talking Steve Austin's big moment.

Marty Jannetty really did himself no favours by his lack of evolution. He wore the Rockers gear way passed it's sell day. The only really gimmick update he did, was becoming a goof.

I've been waiting for this one!!! I was at this Nitro show in Charlotte, NC. I was 10 at the time. When the NWO came through the crowd at the end, my step-dad and I were sitting near that entrance way to the left side of the camera. I just remember being shocked at how big they were compared to everybody else in the crowd. There was noticeably no Ric Flair match in Charlotte. I can't remember if it was after this taping or the next one I attended but after the taping. Flair and Savage had a dark match which is without a doubt the greatest match I've seen in person.
