I went to Lancaster, PENNSYLVANIA twice. Both times that I went there, i automatically felt in love with that part of the country that we are living in. I would love to live there not in the winter time. I would love to keep on going back to Lancaster, PENNSYLVANIA and the states of West Virginia AND Kentucky. I love to travel.
Geoff Outdoors I grew up not far from you. My grandfather was from Larue and that’s where the family farm was. That’s over in Hardin county. We were surrounded by the Amish there And I will never forget the clickity clack of the horse and buggies on the road. Many of my best childhood memories are on that farm. What a wonderful life that was!!!

Have stayed in Charm at a beautiful B+B many times. I loved every day of it, I usually spent 7 days with most of them on the porch over looking the fields with horses and foals running and playing, most restful vacations ever.💕

Yoder’s kitchen is where we eat a lot of times.. But we eat at some others places to. We eat at a little restaurant by Klims, Not sure if i spelled that right. But that is a neat place to go and see.
lived around here all my life. im not amish but i interact with them all the time. Friendliest people and have helped me when i was stranded out in the lake, when my motor wasnt working.
I am of amish descent my great grandfather cleared his land early in the eighteen hundreds I've been a delivery man in this area for well over a decade. Your video has reminded me that I have been blessed to have been born within ten miles of Charm.we have our challenges..a very good video.
Bob Hostetler my great grandfather settled his farm in The larue area about the same time as yours did. He came from Germany and was the only English farm in Hardin county county for a long time. All of the other farms in the area were Amish farms. It was truly a blessing to have grown up amongst these wonderful, hardworking folks

I've stayed in Berlin. My parents both grew up in Millersburg, so I have lots of family living there. I personally loved eating at the Der Dutchman out in Walnut Creek.
We live 20 min from there, I guess when you live some Where you don't think to visit like a tourist. Yaggis cheese is better. And Dutch valley and der Dutchman (same chain) are both amazing places to eat. Enjoy Ohio.
I'd stock up on #1 stove oil and non electrical goods. I prefer smoked cheeses fresh baked cherry pies. Having horse doctor skills would alleviate fears during birthing time..*
My mother and father grew up in Holmes County. My father grew up in Mt. Hope and my mother grew up a few miles south of Mt. Hope, near Berlin. My father's father owned Keim lumber co. in Mt Hope way back in the day. When I was 6 years old we moved to the Ashland community and I left the Amish when I was 19.

Where in Maine are you from? My family is from (Dad) Portland area and (mom) Aroostook County (Oakfield). And I was raised very near to Holmes County (Ashland County which has a smaller Amish community). Have gone to that area many times. Always loved shopping in Berlin and Sugar Creek.
We reside in Union, Me. Not far from Rockland! We loved Holmes co. and we’ve only been there this once! Thankfully, we recorded this trip, for we truly love it there!
Shianne looks like she escaped from an Amish or Mennonite community just recently: long hair, modestly dressed, no make-up ... Those houses in Berlin do not look *that* Swiss to me but I can imagine they resemble 18th century farmhouses. That cheese factory was so clean ... and the wooden decoration on the walls

+Michele-Mike Bradley lol so we parked our RV in Indiana. We drove our 4 cylinder to Maine and the Ohio Amish stop was on our way. It's a lot cheaper to do the round trip from Indiana to Maine and back in the 4 cylinder lol
The only difference from the Amish and where I live is they got more red/white barns and horse drawn carriages. Speed limits greatly reduced. I'm just fine with that.
Great question! My guess would be the cheese shops you saw in our video are not owned by the Amish.. some Amish may work in them but I doubt very seriously they are owned by them. I also believe many Amish differentiate between home and work rules..

I thought Amish people aren't cool with being photographed. I swear I was told it was disrespectful and due to religious reasons about modesty. I'm in Ohio and have always been told that 🤷♀️
So that’s true, we try to be respectful and as long as we are distant it doesn’t seem to be a big deal, We would never take photos or video of them up close unless we had specific permission. We love the Amish and respect them and the life they choose to lead!
Ohio has the largest amish puppy mills.most having 100 plus breeder dogs,this is the amish make their living,as a daughter of an large animal vet Ive never seen such animal abuse as with the amish.

Their Bibles are in old German and very few can read them so few question what they are told. They don't allow Bible study and when folks do study the English Bible they really get their eyes opened about salvation. I have heard that more leave their church because of that instead of no cars, the way they live and etc. I'm just passing on what I have read and been told. I have always admired them also and enjoyed visiting their areas of the country anyway because of the strong feelings of peace we feel. Emry Thompson they do battery powered lights on them front an rear as well as big triangular reflectors so if you are paying attention to the road and not your phone then you won’t have any problems at all seeing the buggies

We even went barefoot in the barnyard with the cows. It’s a wonderful feeling in the summertime, ya just need to let those ten little piggies breath some Brother!!
