It's nice that they actually put a prayer on the menu. Nice variety on the buffet for breakfast. The desserts looked more like something you would see on a lunch or dinner buffet. Not that we would ever complain about dessert. The fruit slush looked interesting. It looked very refreshing! Glad y'all enjoyed it. Looks like a great area to spend some time.

Being a Southern girl, we did not have mush. We had grits, which I did not like as a kid! As a sidenote: Grits means "Girls Raised In The South". Y'all do good eating at buffets. I need to be rolled out after a buffet. In fact, I feel the same way after watching your reviews.
WOW!!! Not the biggest selection but some mighty fine new offerings to try. The size of this eatery is bigger than life. I bet they could seat some small towns in there.
They have a banquet hall in the basement. My husband's company used it for their Christmas party for years. Over 500 employees and spouses. The restaurant did a fantastic job every time.
That buffet looks really good. We’ve been to the Der Dutchman in Plain City but not Walnut Creek. Will definitely give Walnut Creek a try! Thanks for sharing!
Loved the way you could choose the buffet or from the menu for those of us who don't eat much. I thought the mush was interesting because I have never had that. In Amish country, their buildings are so close to the road. And they hang beautiful hanging baskets for everyone to enjoy. Bobbie always compliments the staff for their wonderful service. And the beautiful landscape outside. Just a great video package of everything. Oh I love the menu shots. I can pick would I would like. Often see it on your plates, too! Really enjoyed the video! Not everyone will get a buffet plus people like to see the all they offer. The houses are close the roads most of the time and this is just a place to come and relax. I've been to the locations in Middlebury, IN and Sarasota, FL. The menus are similar except they have head cheese in Middlebury. I can also vouch for their Strawberry Whipped Cream pie. It was the most delicious pie I've ever tasted. I hope you both have a wonderful 4th and eat lots of good food.

cornmeal mush and scrapple are similar, except scrapple has meat...I learned to make both because you can't get them where I live. YUM!!!(I am originally from Delaware, now in Nevada) Thank you for sharing😋

I love Der Dutchman’s buffet . Just seeing all of your yummy choices made me hungry . It’s 15 minutes from home but we don’t go there very often . Definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the area
We stopped in to the one outside Columbus Ohio , when close we will stop at any Amish/Dutch Restaurant as you can not go wrong ! Thanks for the video , on the bucket list !
My grandpa would make something similar to mush. He would cook oatmeal the night before and spread it out into a pan and refrigerate it over night. In the morning he would cut it up into squares fry it in the frying pan until crispy then would spread butter over it and put some syrup. I loved it, so yummy.
The food here looked great! The maple donut looked delicious and the pineapple/banana/orange/sierra mist slush sounded amazing. We used to visit the Der Dutchman in Waynesville, Ohio but the restaurant caught on fire and they never re-opened their doors. We've never tried breakfast at the Der Dutchman but remember their great food and apple butter. You guys always deliver excellent videos!
Appreciate you guys. This restaurant is part of a group here one being in Berlin the Farmstead, Dutch Valley is in Sugarcreek and this one in Walnut Creek. The other one is in Florida. They are so popular here in Holmes County. The slush was amazing and we hope to get it again. We will have a lunch/dinner review from the Farmstead this week also. Love homemade apple butter also but the peanut butter here is like fudge. 😎😎
My wife and I were there last week and two weeks before that. We only live an hour away, so it's really easy to make a quick run. You can't beat the bread pudding. Don't bother watching your carbs when you visit this area, just enjoy yourself.
I grew up going here with with my family in the 70s 80s. Oh man the fhe food was always phenomenal. There's no cooking like Amish cooking in the USA. Best food there is. Brings back such great memories.
I would definitely have the breakfast casserole and the hashbrowns on my plate. They both looked great and there is no such thing as too many potatoes. Ha.
It all looked good, but that mush with butter, yum and the slush sounds so good and refreshing. I can't believe for all of that they only charge $11.99 a person, out here in California you'd be looking at $20 - $24 a person. Holmes County is definitely on my wish list, I hope one day I can get there. Thanks for sharing your morning with us.
I ate breakfast there Tuesday. Had the 2 eggs over easy, 2 pancakes and bacon with homemade white toast. Was a very nice meal. That frozen treat sounds interesting. The views of the valley were beautiful from their parking lot.
We have der dutchman and yoders restaurant in the Pinecraft section of Sarasota, Florida. Its an Amish village for snow birds! Sarasota- The Air Conditioned City!! Siesta Key Beach is here- 1bof the top 10 beaches in the WORLD! 😊

I get the angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert with dinner all the time. That breakfast thing looked like a little version of that. So good.

I'm Chinese and what we have instead of grits is jook. It's kinda like over cooked rice, looks like a combo of grits and oatmeal. It's a popular breakfast item for Chinese.
My mother served fried cornmeal mush for lunch about twice every winter. How a Jewish girl from upstate New York knew about this dish is unknown to me.
I’m in Az now but lived not very far from the restaurant. It and the country side around it are fabulous. Don’t forget their Bakery before leave, try the cinnamon rolls they’re awesome! Enjoy.

You just go into the phone settings in the camera and pick the hyperlapse function. It takes around every 20 seconds and makes it one second. You saw around 3 miles or so in 12 seconds. We love using this function on the drives like the Lancaster Drive Thru we just did. Also the slow mo looks great also on water. Check them out in the camera setting of your phone. TCB⚡️⚡️

Everything was fresh Frank. Bobbie loves mush it is cornmeal. I don't eat it but she gets it everytime at these buffets. She grew up on it. 😎😎

My neck of the woods. I grew up in Sugarcreek. Worked at Dutch valley - the sister restaurant- for a few years also. My dad grew up maybe 1/4 mile from der Dutchman
The fried mush has always been my favorite since I was a little girl! :)
And the fruit slush. That must be an ohio or Amish country thing. My family made that for family or graduation parties ;).

I get the angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert with dinner all the time. That breakfast thing looked like a little version of that. So good.

I'm Chinese and what we have instead of grits is jook. It's kinda like over cooked rice, looks like a combo of grits and oatmeal. It's a popular breakfast item for Chinese.

My mother served fried cornmeal mush for lunch about twice every winter. How a Jewish girl from upstate New York knew about this dish is unknown to me.

You just go into the phone settings in the camera and pick the hyperlapse function. It takes around every 20 seconds and makes it one second. You saw around 3 miles or so in 12 seconds. We love using this function on the drives like the Lancaster Drive Thru we just did. Also the slow mo looks great also on water. Check them out in the camera setting of your phone. TCB⚡️⚡️

Mush is just cooked cornmeal. You let it set overnight and it will get firm. And then you fry it, put lots of butter on it 😎😎

I haven't had mush in a long time. I have grits regularly. Unfortunately, I can't find yellow grits in my area. I have yellow cornmeal. I should just make some mush.
