    Hello friends!
    Welcome to a tutorial video of how I use washi tape to section off my diamond painting kits. I also briefly touch on using release paper for a similar purpose. Hopefully this gives you a better sense for how and why I like to use washi tape the way that I do! Just as a reminder: the washi tape goes on the plastic cover, not on the canvas/glue itself!

    I love sectioning off with my washi tape, but I also keep the replacement sheets handy so that I can place one down on my section about half way. That gives me a place to lay my hand on to work on the section without getting my hand all sticky and getting cat hair on that area.

      That’s a smart idea!! I think I will try that I sweat 😓 and even the section that is done I still stick to it !!! 😊😊

    • @Doveofserenity
      @Doveofserenity 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cathykearns5489 If the section is done, then you are probably sticking to the edge of the painting. Put some washi tape around the edge of painting also.

    I just ordered my first painting and had no idea why they included a washi tape with the kit or why the painters would cut the plastic off since most of what I watch are asmrs so thank you so much for this explanation! Really can’t wait to get mine and start❤️

    Sectioning my canvas always helps me, too. And I don’t feel as overwhelmed by the big ones. Scotch brand Washi works really well also. But when I do use the other brands that tend to peel up, I just rub a small dab of glue stick on the corners and it works perfectly. It’s not permanent either, but it helps keep the washi down for however long I need it.

    I section my canvas with simply gilded as well. No need to buy other brands when I got tons of it here. I don’t measure though. I just find the middle and start to tape vertically and horizontally from that center then go out from there on both rows and columns. Just making sure they are straight following the grid lines

    Doing my first diamond painting kit. Small inexpensive from the Dollar Tree. As you put your boarder on, you covered the color chart. Do better kits come with labels when... is the word kitting your project. Perhaps that's explained in another video. Thank you this was interesting I like idea of that relief paper. Even to put down randomly so you have a place to rest your hand.

    “If you aren’t as *detailed* as me…..”.
    Bahahahahahaha!! OMG I laughed so hard when I read that. Hubby asked why and when I told him I loved your terminology for a trait we both so clearly share, he said “You mean instead of Type A, OCD, bug-nuts like you are?” That’s what 39 years of marriage does romantic words! 🤪🤪🤪

    Thanks for sharing. I like your channel. Unfortunately I don’t section because I like to do by color!! I might do like the red maybe of a certain area,then fill in other colors. But it was interesting to see how to section it. I’m also hoping to save the cover sheets to reuse. My very first painting I cut sections off of the cover and it was a mess. I guess most people like sectioning it seems, but I haven’t adapted to that yet!L. Just thought I’d share😊

    Thank you so much. This has been helpful! I found out about washi tape on TikTok! I’ve only just started doing diamond art and I love it! How do you cut the plastic off as don’t want to ruin the picture? Thank you!

    I kinda wish I had watched this video before I did my Lion Cub from DAC, I used the washi tape on a small part of the canvas, didn't realize it should only be on the plastic. I had release papers down but had wanted to align the grid better since the ones I have are not all the same size since they were apparently cut by hand. When I went to peel it off, I was afraid I wouldn't get it off, it came off but I did notice the tape's residue. After that little incident, I've basically ignored the tape.

    I am recently getting back into diamond painting after almost a year, and found you on TH-cam. You advice on sectioning off my canvas was very helpful Thanks so much. Also would you recommend a magnifying lens? I already have a light board .

    I love sectioning off my painting with washi tape. I like to section the whole canvas at once. I usually section them off my 4x4 squares. I used to section it by how many days I wanted to work on it. I tried using release papers, but I did not like that the relase papers don't stick well after you start working on a section.

      Sectioning it off by days you want to work on it is a great idea! And I completely agree about the release paper. It basically doesn't want to stick at all for me once there are drills on.

    Those pens are currently on sale right now. I bought a blue ($4.95) and a white ($4.50). I got a few cover minders too ($2.50 each). Thanks for the advise. :)

    Was totally looking for a how to washi video and in a WIP session you mentioned this recording which was perfect for what I needed. Totally made sense once I watched you do it. And will try on my next project. I just ordered a variety of fun washi.
    Unrelated, Are you really In placentia? I used to live in Fullerton and am now down by Oceanside. I love Cali but miss the fall so #drillsandchills2021 is helping me fill in my missed autumn fun.

    I love this tutorial, I have never thought to use washi tape (sort of a newbie here.) So thank you!!! Also, do you usually start at top or bottom of the canvas, and do you have a recommendation? (You may have a video on that already, lol, I’m just now scrolling though. 😀)

    • @DiamondsandWashi
      @DiamondsandWashi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely use it! Sometimes I just use it on the borders, and then use cheaper washi tape on the plastic since that just gets thrown away.
