Thank you! I got one of these and could not figure out how to use. Pull the cap off! I kept turning and turning, nothing worked. It makes perfect sense now! ❤
I love the sound it makes when it release the drill but there is no getting around the fact that you can more clearly see the drill for precision placing with the old basic wax pen.
I ordered my first 2 paintings with the new tools. Since I saw you showing it. I love the concept. Only I find the pen very slippery, especially summer ( sweaty hands) so I dropped the pen a few times, which meant that the diamond also fell everywhere. Maybe a squishy or a bit other material is a few lines to hold the pen better. I noticed the plastic bags are really hard to open, without scissors I could not open it. Otherwise it’s great. I am in Germany and may not know exactly the correct word. Also thank you for your code, that way I got a new mini dazzle and beautiful painting together, no postage charges. ❤thank you
If you have more than one pen maybe test one with that kitchen or bathroom rubber mats that prevent stuff from sliding all over the drawers. I cut them up into slices and tape or glue them to the pen. I'm klutzy and have arthritis so it helps so I don't grip so tightly. I also use the mats for many things like opening jars or placing my coffee cup or tray on so if I bump the table it doesn't go flying! Drills on the other hand are a whole nother can of worms 😂

I just bought the new sparkly metal tipped putty refillable pick up pen from DAC and I love it. It’s get to have this tutorial on how to refill it. Thank you for sharing 💕
Thank you for the demonstration! I love the new diamond painting pens. I was recently diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, and with the old pens, it was very hard to grasp, comfortable even with the squishy gripper, much less work on a painting kit for a few hours.
I have arthritis (but not the rheumatoid) it's not CT but if I do too much or it's winter (even in Florida) I find I'm whipping out the Voltaren cream 🤢 I've found if I wrap my pen in the rubbery slip mats for kitchen drawers. Just cut to size and either tape or rubber band it into plastic. Or glue if it works really well. Of course I'd never glue it to a $30+ pen but then I don't buy them either way.
Hey Katie nice demo on the new pen. I had very similar experience as you did. The past weekend has been a bit warmer and my hands were warm when testing and I just found the putty coming out was extra sticky and stringy. I rarely use the tools in the kits as I have my favorite pens and waxed. I’m glad to hear the heart wax may not be gone for good as that is my staple for my metal multiplacer but may give it more of a try for my single placing. Thanks for sharing.
I've been using pick me up pens for years and I have to say I LOVE this new pen. It's a lot better than the Silhouette pens because of the hole on the end for a multi placer. Also, I have no issues with the putty getting stuck on the canvas or drills. I found that less is better. I twist the bare minimum out. Anyway I absolutely love this pen and will be collecting so I can have different multi placers available on the ends and ready to swap out when needed.
Thank you for this! I've been diamond painting for a while, and could not for the life of me figure out how to reload the pen. I still like my pink wax and metal tips better, but I have found that the putty is great for the AB drills (at least for how I do diamond art). So, I have found a happy place for using both products 💖
This is great. Currently doing my first project with this pen. Pros - great for this confetti heavy piece because I am doing more single placing than my usual style. I’m spending way less time tweaking putty. The pen is comfortable in my hand. Con - putty sticking to the canvas. Ugh. Con - Having to use tweezers or old style pen for tweaking position of drills. Pro - overall, speeds up single placing for me. Con - slows me down because I’m more of a multi placer. I haven’t had to refill the pen yet, so I found that part of your tutorial really helpful. When the time comes, I’ll know what I’m getting in to. Overall, I really like the concept, and it’s working better for me as I learn its quirks. The biggest issue is I’m swapping pens all the time when I need to fix something. Thanks for the tutorial.
I usually work with 2-3 pens out when I'm working 1 for holding my favorite placers a bent single and a 6. 2nd pen with straighteners on both ends (so no matter how I pick it up it's the same, flipping gets rough with Arthritis) 3rd for AB's or a lot of confetti (usually a 2-3 placer does the job).
Thanks for this tutorial Katie! Just received a new kit today, with the upgraden toolkit. I am willing to try this, though I am not a real putty fan. So, this was very helpful to me! Love from the Netherlands, Willeke
Hello Katie. Thanks so much for this video. I haven't used the new pen yet but I have been hoping to see a video from you showing how to reload the pen. So, thank you.
Thank you for the demonstration. I was looking forward to trying this pen but it came broken. Guess I’ll have to wait until I buy another kit. Though, I’ve been looking at other type of pens.
I love these new pens. It picks up ABs really well. They are much better than the old glitter straight line pens. Feels good in the hand. Thanks for the review.
I actually had the plastic single placer tube actually snap down the side when using it. So far I only really use it for AB drills and even then not too thrilled (just not a putty fan).
As well as the light pad being helpful, I have found s pair of magnifiying (reading) glasses help wiih eyestrain and a good day light Ott lite. My favorite is the floor lamp model, but I have two desktop models and another by my sewing machine. they give off a shadowless light that is like daylight.. bought them for my embroidery projects and even had one shining over my stove! Absolutley no light there and a very dark corner. But those things seemed to have helped me greatly.
Love, love, love this pen!! I'm in the middle of doing a different picture and when I rec'd the new kit I noticed the new pen so I opened the kit and am using it to finish my other picture. I have been using a modified "Pick-me-up" pen that you twist to release more putty but I modified it with adding a metal tip to the end cause their top is to big. You couldn't get into those small spaces. But I loved it cause you didn't have to stop and reload the putty (pink stuff) but the putty in that tool stuck to the AB diamonds and leave residue behind, so I would have to use a tweezers to place those. So the big test with the new pen was: Will the tip fit into a single space that's surrounded by diamonds...✔️ It does! And will it pick up AB diamonds without leaving a bunch of putty stuck to it....✔️yes it does! The only thing I would change is getting a metal tip for more length and strength. PS Love the new tray too.
Yea I have tried the new diamond art putty pen. It took a little time getting used to it, but you are correct in terms of using the pen straight up rather than slanted to the side. It does last longer than the wax. I like it so far. But I do miss the metal tips in order to straighten my drills.
I just keep one of the old barrels with the largest straighteners on both sides so no matter how I pick it up it's on the correct side. Kinda like I do when my pencil erasers are gone or bad, I keep a regular eraser close.
Its really easy to remove the whole putty. You just need to twist the tweezers inside the tip and it will start to stick onto tweezers and you can remove all putty completely clean out of the tip. Do't need to soak or extra tools for it. I did the post about the exchange on the DAC Vip group and as mentioned there already, this pen with wax instead putty works just perfect for AB's :)
I love that DAC is introducing fresh ideas! For me, the pen is not the right fit because I prefer angled tips, but this is definitely the rolls royce of toolkit standard pens.
I always keep a regular old barrel pen with straighteners on both ends to straighten as you go. But multiplacing just takes practice that's all. I only use a 6 placer since I can't imagine, what, a 12 or 13 placer! 😂 What a mess I'd be🙄 I also find running them back and forth while they are still within the line area helps make the line straighter.
I got blue wax in the first one I got the putty does eventually come out completely. I have some metal resin stir sticks one has a scoop looking end and it worked much better to remove the putty. I am keeping one with wax for abs and fairy dust ones but till I get my other multiplacers for my metal tipped premium twist and pick pen im using the wax filled one right now to multiplace.
Super helpful! I am really wondering about using Pure Bliss putty in there. If you've tried another brand putty in it would love to hear how that turned out!
i would like the sigle twisting placer to be metalic cuz every time after some twists for fresh putty it breaks from the presure that the pushed putty gives on the plastic
Thank you for this!! I just got mine yesterday and I kept twisting but nothing came out - until I saw your video! I think DAC needs to include better directions on how to use the pen - all it says is twist.
Will the stainless steel work in the new twist & pick applicator that comes in the new tool kit or is there a specific steel multiplacer I need to get?
Hi Katie thanks for your review unfortunately I'm not a fan of this pen or their putty. I could not go back to a plastic pen/plastic tips. I think it's great they upgraded the pen though😊
Yeah, I don't use the cover minders and now with the perforated top sheet not needed. And well washi tape is a preference kinda thing since stickiness is varied.
It only comes with a kit. It's an upgrade though like the trays. Still working on working the kinks out. The new tray is awesome, lid and all. And they're both free with the kits. I just ordered 3, the two larger kits have the larger tray and the smaller kit tray is smaller. Beats $15-20 on their pens and spacers.
Hi all! Thanks to Katie, I bought some putty from Randa’s and I love it. My question is, I feel like it doesn’t grab as strong after a while in a session. How often do you have to change the putty to make it work? I did an hour of diamond painting the other day and I had to keep reshaping it in my multiplayer as it took the shape of the drills after a while. Is that normal? This is my first time with putty, curious how long it lasts with multiplacing and how often you need to switch it out. Thank you!
Yeah, I feel that. I love the putty but it does gunk up fast and (I think) dry out between sessions. I do think it’s okay for it to take the drill shape, I mean you’re poking the drills. I take my tweezers and pull the putty around in the multiplacer. I think I’ve completely removed it only like three times in the 5ish months I’ve had it. Still think I would’ve been able to get a little more stick out it by roughing it up, but sometimes I just want fresh putty😅
@Poodlepaws44 I tried both types of DAC multiplacers (standard and twist on) on the new putty pen. Neither worked for me. The standard was too small. It might work with washi tape around the multiplacer (I didn't try it). The twist on was too big and the putty pen isn't threaded.
i want one .. new to it but i know i need that. I should have watch you tube or something before i ran out and got the very many diamond art paints that i got but in the future I'll know where to buy thanks
I've only seen or heard with kits. But considering their pens are $20 it's not with it. I ordered 3 last week and even the smaller one came with the pen but the tray is the smaller size too.
I have not been successful with the new preloaded pen. No matter how hard I turn it, I cannot get it to push out putty. I have tried turning it until my thumb and index finger are sore. At this point I would say it needs to go back to R&D for more work. I even tried letting it sit in very hot water to see it it would work when softened. I appreciate the video showing how it SHOULD work. But I'm not sure we should have to watch a video to see how to use a pen. If it is new, then more instructions should have been included with the kit or a link to the video. It made a first project with my granddaughter way more frustrating than it should have been.
I am currently using the pen and I like it. My minor irritation is with the stopper on the tray. You have to align it a certain way to fit. In a segment where you switch many colors, it is annoying.
I do think the putty is a little too sticky. Especially when I have to refresh it. I've lost some drills to it. It does last forever though, so I don't have the problem very much.
i keep having issues where the putty leaves super tiny spots on the drills and then its nearly impossible to get off. i wipe it or try to use wax or putty to lift it. it just smears/gets sticky and then dulls the shine. so im scared to use it lol and its why im here. but i see she didnt have any of that issue 😭😖
I think the new pen is a great idea but DAC should maybe develop a stainless steel version of it (for sale) with interchangeable designs of the pens. They would no doubt last a lifetime and cut down on excess plastic waste of the plastic pens 😊
I wish DAC allowed a no kit option. I don't want to deal with this putty. I don't want to have to touch and mess with shoving the putty in. I hate the waste of just throwing new items away! This has actually had me canceling an order a few days ago.
Or ask on your favorite DP channel is interested in taking or buying them from you. A lot of TH-camrs mail out special "Thank you" or "Friend mail" maybe they'll take them off your hands? I hate just pitching things into the landfills willynilly. The water bottles drive me nuts!
I tried it but the tips are too big and the pen isn't threaded. Maybe if you can can someone to thread the pen it would work. I can't do it cause my hands are too weak to do it.
Warm up your putty? Since cold and heat seem to affect putty's texture? Just thinking of something others have said about putty in general. I have some but rarely use it.
I've been doing diamond art projects for quite awhile....I have to say I HATE that pen. All the work to load more and twist more, and am I out or not.etc...not for me. I hope they come out with metal tips!°°
I've never had any luck with the AB's whether it be wax, putty or dots. I'm a heavy placer and not even the sharp tweezers, which they also removed. I found a decent pair of angled tweezers work best for me.
You don't NEED it. People were just complaining that they removed it entirely so they throw in one heart now instead of the plastic heart that had 3 pcs in it.
i was confused about this pen. I just put it aside. Thanks for the clarification. Your videos are so helpful
Thank you for this! I had no idea how this pen worked and the instructions were lacking!
I love using this pen. It’s light and picks diamonds perfectly.
Thank you for this review! You are always so thorough with your reviews and they are very helpful!!

I love the concept.

So I followed this tutorial and how did you twist the pen to get to the putty out at 1:44 mine is tight and no matter how hard I twist it won’t budge
Thank You Katie for the demo. I was totally surprised that the putty was in it! Im anxious to try it.
I just learned today that the old DAC steel multiplacers fits the new twist and click pen perfectlyy! No washi needed !!!
Thank you for this! I've been diamond painting for a while, and could not for the life of me figure out how to reload the pen. Du könntest statt eines mehrfach setzter, einen Korrektur einzel setzter hinten auf setzen, dann musst du nicht den stift wechseln.

You are always so helpful. I cant wait to try a new kit
I hope one day someone comes out with a multiplacer that has this sort of auto fill.
Awesome update my friend thank you for sharing with us
Thank you for this. I got my first kit a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out how to use the pen so I just stuck with the usual stick pen.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I was totally lost. Instead of pulling the top off, I was twisting😬😍
perfect timing because I JUST unboxed my recent purchase which has the new pen 🥰
Hi Katie, I have ordered two new kits, so I will let you know how I like the pen. Which looks like an Epi pen to me.
I actually got a diamond art kit that came with that new one and i need help figuring out how to remove the wax so this video helps me out alot
I actually had the plastic single placer tube actually snap down the side when using it. So far I only really use it for AB drills and even then not too thrilled (just not a putty fan).
Thank you for this video. I just bought Mr. Whiskers and this pen came with the kit, and yeah, I was very confused about how it works.
Love, love, love this pen!! I'm in the middle of doing a different picture and when I rec'd the new kit I noticed the new pen so I opened the kit and am using it to finish my other picture.

Thank you for this demo and tutorial. Very helpfull
Got my first DAC project yesterday, and today TH-cam offers me this video... Thank you for doing this, it's made the process much clearer.
Thanks for the demo Katie! Very thorough review! 💜🩷
It’s looks great, thanks for reviewing it 😊
This video was so helpful! I was so confused when i received mine. I was like what is this thing? Lol.
I’m looking forward to getting the kit with this in it
Yea I have tried the new diamond art putty pen. It took a little time getting used to it, but you are correct in terms of using the pen straight up rather than slanted to the side. It does last longer than the wax. I like it so far. But I do miss the metal tips in order to straighten my drills.

@@celine_poike I did actually
@@belara2218 Oh no, I must have missed it :(
@@celine_poike just sort by new posts and scroll bit down, im sure you will find xD
I love that DAC is introducing fresh ideas! For me, the pen is not the right fit because I prefer angled tips, but this is definitely the rolls royce of toolkit standard pens.
You could put it on the opposite side. I too found i prefer the angled single placer!
Hey Katie! Loved the video!
I love the new pen! I am mainly a single place and have just started to dabble in multiplacing. The most trouble I have are with round drills 😢
I always keep a regular old barrel pen with straighteners on both ends to straighten as you go. But multiplacing just takes practice that's all. I only use a 6 placer since I can't imagine, what, a 12 or 13 placer! 😂 What a mess I'd be🙄

Love the new pen. Works great with ab’s
I bought the twist and pick metal tip, I love it
Great minds think alike! I was wondering what would happen if I take the DAC putty put and put Randa's putty in it.
Super helpful! I am really wondering about using Pure Bliss putty in there. If you've tried another brand putty in it would love to hear how that turned out!
You could always try if you already have one try it. What is the worst that could happen?
Just got mine and was wondering what to do with it 😀 My first DAC order.
Great tips. Thank you!😊
i would like the sigle twisting placer to be metalic cuz every time after some twists for fresh putty it breaks from the presure that the pushed putty gives on the plastic
Thank you for this!! I just got mine yesterday and I kept twisting but nothing came out - until I saw your video! I think DAC needs to include better directions on how to use the pen - all it says is twist.
👍 danke für das zeigen, wie man den stift nach füllt.
Thank you for this video🥰🥰😊
I just started diamond painting and this is the only pen I've used. I'm looking for one that's more "sturdy" but still has the twist putty releaser?
I buy my pens from Temu. $20-60 is just too much for my comfort level. But I have like every color of the rainbow for my moods 😂
Great tutorial and demo ..tfs
Just got the metal tip today
Will the stainless steel work in the new twist & pick applicator that comes in the new tool kit or is there a specific steel multiplacer I need to get?
Getting ready to use the new Diamond Art Club, having hard time getting the putty to come out
Well she said the putty gets too soft and stringy in the hot weather. Do you live where cold weather may affect it?
Thank you ❤
Could you use the putty to load the multi placer as well?
I was wondering that too
Yes! That’s how I’ve used it.
I use blue tac in my multi placers
Hi Katie thanks for your review unfortunately I'm not a fan of this pen or their putty. I could not go back to a plastic pen/plastic tips. I think it's great they upgraded the pen though😊
You could always donate them to someone who would like to try them. Sorry I'm just a stickler for the garbage tossed these days. No offense ☮️
Opening the new kit is exciting. I noticed they aren’t giving a coverminder or washi tape 🙂↔️
Yeah, I don't use the cover minders and now with the perforated top sheet not needed. And well washi tape is a preference kinda thing since stickiness is varied.

hi, i am new at this art, and would love to find this pen. i cant seem to find it on the Diamond Art website. Can you help me?
I believe it only comes with a kit. They are upgrading their toolkits. New trays are beautiful!
DAC's new pens reminds me of ivy's dazzlers pen.
thank you
I'm looking for the automatic kind ??
Try pink wax throw in the pen try ou😢 16:33
Is this pen in every set or only in de diamond dazzles?
In all kits now.
Would the multiplacer end of these pens fit the thin metal multiplacers DAC makes?
@Poodlepaws44 I tried both types of DAC multiplacers (standard and twist on) on the new putty pen. Neither worked for me. The standard was too small. It might work with washi tape around the multiplacer (I didn't try it). The twist on was too big and the putty pen isn't threaded.
i want one .. new to it but i know i need that. I should have watch you tube or something before i ran out and got the very many diamond art paints that i got but in the future I'll know where to buy thanks
Could it be use for special drills like ABs???

Can I order the new pen alone or does it only come in the kit? ❤
Great idea but just not as fun as collecting some of the beautiful pens being made! I’m also a heavy presser so not sure these will work for me.
What is the difference in wax and putty
Mine showed up with the side cracked 😢
Where can I find it. I didn’t see it on their app.
Only in kits, upgrading the toolkits that come with kits. Beats paying $20 and the new trays are awesome too.
This has actually had me canceling an order a few days ago.
you could always join a de-stash group and give away with the price of shipping, or bring to a local school or art center
Or ask on your favorite DP channel is interested in taking or buying them from you. A lot of TH-camrs mail out special "Thank you" or "Friend mail" maybe they'll take them off your hands? I hate just pitching things into the landfills willynilly. The water bottles drive me nuts!
My putty won’t come out of the top. I keep twisting it but the putty just won’t come out of the tip. Help😂
Can you give me a link to the pen I can't find it
Only comes in kits, an upgrade they've done and working out the kinks. The new trays I love come in 2 sizes with lids now.
❤❤❤
Hello! Would these new pens take the twist in tips from DAC as well?
I tried it but the tips are too big and the pen isn't threaded. Maybe if you can can someone to thread the pen it would work. I can't do it cause my hands are too weak to do it.
I can’t get any wax to come out, idk what I’m doing wrong
Warm up your putty? Since cold and heat seem to affect putty's texture? Just thinking of something others have said about putty in general. I have some but rarely use it.
is anyone having issues with putty sticking to the diamonds and it being hard to get off
Great review, but I have to say that it's great pen but the plastic tip will not hold up if u r heavy handed
I've been doing diamond art projects for quite awhile....I have to say I HATE that pen. All the work to load more and twist more, and am I out or not.etc...not for me. I hope they come out with metal tips!°°

Can you fill with a DIFFERENT putty?
You could try. Wouldn't hurt?
So the pen comes with putty in it?!?! Also the putty sticks to the AB's and dulls the drills-it's hard to get it off.
I've never had any luck with the AB's whether it be wax, putty or dots. I'm a heavy placer and not even the sharp tweezers, which they also removed. I found a decent pair of angled tweezers work best for me.
That seems like a lot of work.
Preferences I suppose. She said it lasted for a while.
So you still need regular wax.
You don't NEED it. People were just complaining that they removed it entirely so they throw in one heart now instead of the plastic heart that had 3 pcs in it.
