Pretty much did exactly this in Dynasty Warriors 8. Once Xiapi got flooded and morale was 25% blue/75% red I just said fuck it and raced straight over to Liu Bei and Cao Cao's base and killed everything in the vicinity.

That's so accurate guys. We were playing co-op and Lu bu was burning all red. 50 lv Lu bu. I can't describe the war to you. You gotta play. We were fighting with Lu bu at least one hour. All nations were attacking Lu bu and still he last that long. This guy is the best fighter in that universe.

Apparently in the original story he was able to fight off Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liu Bei all three at the same time and survive. Since those three were already famous generals of many great feats, it's only natural to assume Lu Bu was beyond greatness. It's just amplified slightly in every retell ever since :P
