@@MusicChannel-rf5zz I have two SD-1’s and I use them every week. From podcasts to vocal recordings to even as a snare mic at church. Now with this modeling software coming out soon I’ll definitely be using them for more things in the future
Do you use fetheads/mic lifter or any preamp to boost the sd-1 thinking of buying those..i have a Zoom L8 Livetrak Mixer/Interface.

Good video. Something easy to confuse is what is off axis? With the mic at, say, 45-degrees from your mouth, this is still “on axis” (i.e. 0 degrees). That is, if the capsule is pointed toward your mouth it’s on axis. It the mic is rotated about its own cylindrical axis such that the capsule is rotated away from your mouth, even it the capsule is directly in front of you, only then is it “off axis”.
Will I get the same quality on the SD 1 using the same mic emulations?
The following question arises: what happens with the coloration that the pre applies to the signal? The modeling is supposedly designed for the clean response of the microphone. This makes me doubt the accuracy of emulations using an external pre or a unison pre, for example.
I use the hemisphere on all my mics to get whatever sound I’m looking for it’s great going to test out the sc1 and see if it like it dropping content on it soon

@theheatstudio question i thougjt bought getting sphere but in europe its 1500 € right now^^....i mainly use my earthworks for vocals and love it.
Does this smaler version sounds as great as sphere if use it mainly for vocals and am fine with the smaller amount of mic models...coz i love the 8 choseb ones but wouldnt buy the mic if it sounds not rhat good then the sphere

That’s a great question, this microphone has the same emulations as the sphere but with a lot less features and models, I haven’t done a full comparison, but I’m planning to do one soon and post a video about it so I can’t tell you exactly how similar or different they sound but I can tell you that if you’re recording vocals mostly and don’t need multiple polar patterns or stereo recordings then the SC-1 is perfect
This should be a huge upgrade from the mic that comes with the Volt 276 package, My Sc-1 just arrived.

Does the hemisphere plugin go in the UAD console unison slot? I really want to use this through console for zero latency but all the demos seem to focus on using it in a DAW. Thanks!
Yes, you can do both. Just make sure to use the UAD monitor option in console so the mic model doesn’t get printed onto the track (unless you want that)

Well it really depends on what kind of music/instruments you will be recording, if you are recording more than just vocals, I would suggest the Sphere

¿Para usar el Software "Hemisphere" es necesario tener una interfaz UA?¿o funciona con cualquier interfaz?
En mi caso tengo una interfaz Arturia Aduiofuse Studio, y este micrófono me viene muy bien como sustituto de un Shure Sm7b, y con el modelado de micrófonos me aportaría una gran versatilidad.

Hola! Para usar el software Hemisphere no necesitas una interface UA, lo puedes utilizar en cualquier programa de grabación y con cualquier interface. Saludos!
Saludos bro. Tengo una pregunta? Compre este mismo mic, pero cuando bajo el app no me deja abrir el plugin para cambiar para los otros mics. Tengo que usar este mic con una tarjeta de UA?
Hola, puedes usar el plugin en tu programa de grabación sin tener una interface Apollo. Estás usando el plugin Hemisphere? Asegúrate de escoger el micrófono correcto que estás utilizando.
Hola! Crees que este mic junto a la Audient ID4 MK2 sea un buen combo?
El micrófono puede ser usado con cualquier interface así que si ya la tienes entonces buenisimo, pero si estás buscando una interface nueva obviamente te recomiendo una UA!

Which one is better the SD-1 or SC-1 for vocals
Technically, the correct answer here is SC-1 but if you have an untreated room and need more isolation I would choose the SD-1 so there is no right or wrong

On Stage DS7425 great little mic stand, I've had mine for many years.
Considering that the plugin must be placed on the Apollo console first I would lose Unisson.

I noticed that most of the gear reviewers (surely paid ad by UA/Sweetwater/GuitarCenter) show the mic with drums or guitars, but nobody on vocals, while singing. Is anything to worry about? Or does UA has anything to hide? Cuz surely there's a policy before making a review, what to say/show and what not.
Influencers choose what they want to record or show, UA doesn't demand anything so it's up to them. Most people choose drums or guitars because it's easier to show the difference between models since drums have a full frequency range plus you would have to either be a singer or hire someone else to sing in order to produce a video which makes things harder.
My hearing must be bad. I couldn’t hear a difference between any of the models.

It’s quite subtle in my opinion. Especially compared to the difference in models with the sphere. BUT, it’s a different build/ price point. Sounds good overall for the price
You said it best, the difference is subtle, Sphere mics are still UA's flagship when it comes to modeling. The differences are more noticeable when recording drums so I'm thinking of making a video soon. Stay tuned!
@@jmclane27 The microphone quality should not make a difference to how much impact the emulation makes as long as it's clean and full range.
@@henrikpetersson3463 as a sphere owner myself, I respectfully disagree. The cage on each of their mics is different which can lead to different resonance results. I’ve done the comparisons.
Additionally, the other mics are dual capsules, which allows them to model front and back.
So for certain recordings I actually have used different polar patterns to get more or less room feel, depending on the desired taste.
I haven’t used this mic yet, and it sounds good…but without the same components…there scientifically not going to be the same. And I’m not saying better or worse if you notice, just saying different my friend

Two completely different microphones with different features. You shouldn’t worry about what’s better or worse because everything is completely subjective, you should be looking into what suits your needs for your studio
I appreciate your answer but it is very generic... I am asking from the perspective of sound quality. I dont have much knowledge about microphones but I would like to invest into something that is really really sounding good for the long term.. I'm looking for mic that has a very clear and warm sound.. to be good for rapping and singing styles of music... Would you be able to advise me on that, I would really appreciate your help @@theheatstudio 🙏
Will hemisphere work on other mics too?
No, it is designed only for the standard mics from UA

Can I use hardware preamp and compressor with sc-1?
Yes absolutely, it’s a regular condenser microphone. Just keep in mind that in order to get the most accurate modeling with the hemisphere software you should use the cleanest preamp and no compression but don’t stop that from trying it out!

@@manykzdj792 that’s amazing gear, the Sphere gives you a huge variety of mics but if you want to use that vocal chain then a regular condenser mic will be better. I would recommend the Bock 187 as a great vocal mic

If you had to give one CON about the SC-1 what would it be? As of right now the CON for me would be my wife getting really pissed at me for spending $650CAD before taxes on a microphone haha Looking for any reason to delay me from going out and buying it right now lol
Also, if you had one microphone to choose in this price range, best bang for your buck (from UAD or other brand) what would you choose? I feel like this is a great option since you you get Hemisphere.
That's a really hard question lol. The only con I can think of is not having a pad so I can record loud sources but I used if for overheads and it sounded fantastic so not really needed. I don't think there's anything else in this price range with the amount of features so best bang for your buck for sure!

I liked the functionality of the Townsend better. UA did cut down on this as they took over this design. What a shame.

?? From the moment you use le SC-1 (through the Volt) there is a 1 sec "shhh" each time you stop talking... very strange, what is it please ?
That's actually my breathing lol, this mic is very sensitive so it picks up everything.
You were fiddling around with all the rotary dials too much to hear the Actual tone differences between the mic emulations . Makes it so confusing uneccessarily .
I'll keep that in mind for the next one!

These are the mics from the sphere. Not sure what you mean
This is the lesser, lesser version of the original Townsend L22. You have the The Dlx and Lx which sound different despite having the same components using the same modeling technology and the SC - 1 is just a cheaper version of that which I don’t think any of the emulations with the SC-1 sound like the actual microphone it’s trying to emulate unlike the Dlx and Lx version. This is a gimmick for new engineers and artist thinking they’re even getting close to having these actual microphones in the locker.
And to rephrase what I said in my 1st comment :
The sc-1 sounds tiny on every emulation
Nun of those mics in real life sound tiny….stick to the tried and true Slate modeling mic or the Dlx and lx version for the truest sound for what your going for.
Quite simply these mic emulations don’t work and aren’t worth the time or money
